Anyone else into the Xenosaga series?

I just finished the third installment (literally... the credits are rolling to my left as I type this) and wanted to see what others thoughts of it. Xenosaga 3 was, honestly, one of the best RPGs I've played. The general consensus seems to be that the first game was better, but there are a lot of things they did in the third that I thought made it a lot more enjoyable than either of the previous two.

The first one didn't come out over here, ever, which disappointed me.

I played the second for a short time, but just couldn't get into it with all the stuff I'd missed. Too much work to try and catch up on the story.

The second one was just really hard. And yeah, they didn't do enough (if any) recapping in Jenseits von Gut und Bose but they did an amazing job of it this time. In all honesty I didn't remember 90% of what had happened in the first two games and I never even finished the second one (probably got through 60% of it) but that didn't really matter.

At the beginning of the game they throw this huge "Database" at you which recaps everything that happened before and talks about everything that you should know about in detail (sometimes a bit too much detail, imo).

But yeah, if you're looking for an RPG to sink your teeth into, I highly recommend this one.

I never got around to beating the first. I own it though.

Just imagine 50 hours of being really confused. The real point of the first game is that KOS-MOS is a fuckin' badass.

So it never get around to telling you what the hell is going on?

No. Not at all. Then they threw on the second game, which was another 50 hours of having no idea what was going on. It got really old.

The third time they actually start explaining stuff. On the plus side it all makes a lot of sense once they do.

XD Yeah, second and first game were confusing. Played the second game once or twice, then quit. I'm going to play the third one though. =3

I haven't played since the first one, but I did enjoy it. I'm not a fan of playing part of a game and then taking a two year break to keep going.

I'll wait until it's almost done

Until what's almost done? The series? Xenosaga 3 is the last episode.

My two best friends both own the game and love it. I've been moreso lazy about picking it up.

Though I've heard the cut scenes are ridiculously long.

You heard right. Sometimes they kind of come out of nowhere, too. In the first game, once you finish the game's "intro" dungeon you were treated to a series of consecutive cutscenes that were over two hours in length. While that was probably the "worst" example (barring ending movies) all the games continue on in that vein.

As long as you have time to sit through them, you'll be fine. Even if you don't, everything in Xenosaga is pause-able. If you're paying attention to the story, you can kind of guess when the major cut-scenes will be coming up, too.

Oh most of the movies are quite entertaining. Just long.

Play Xenogears, it's way better and is Episode 5 :O

Also sprach Zarathustra - Burter - 04-09-2007

I'm almost done with Xeno I. I bought 2 and 3 today.

Jesus holy FUCK Albedo is a whole level of fucking crazy

Also sprach Zarathustra - Raditzu - 04-09-2007

Albedo is the best psychopath I've ever seen in a video game. Talk about a complete whack-job.

I actually never finished the second game. Its so ridiculously hard.

I'm gonna beat em all. Or so I hope. I'll have Episode 1 beaten tonight.

Yea, Albedo is gonna give me nightmares. What a fucking twisted scene

what's he saying?

Also sprach Zarathustra - Burter - 04-09-2007

I just saw that scene. I can't remember it word for word, but a lot of it was taunting her and laughing about it.

*cuts self* "HAHAHAHA I AM AWESOME"

*breaks neck* "WHAT'S THE MATTER? ARE YOU SCARED? DON'T WORRY!"

The rest is bible quotes and telling her how much humanity sucks and how he's a superior being, and continues to prove it by distorting his body in disgusting ways

I saw this title and I was like "Oh wow! Nietzsche discussion thread!"

But no.
