Freakin....god...damn...idiots - Deo - 06-18-2007

There's this girl that continuously insists that the Dragonball Z movies are part of Akira's canon for dragonball Z and says that when I say they're not canon, it's just my opinion.

Can someone give me a quote, or a link, or SOMETHING to prove that they're not and get her to stop talking?

Shut up, hoe.

I tried that D: It didn't work.

Freakin....god...damn...idiots - Captain Silver - 06-18-2007

talk French. 9 times out of 10 they will block you.

Freakin....god...damn...idiots - Deo - 06-18-2007

This is on DA. Some random girl was like 'omg, you copied my character. they're both saiyans and have the same colored hair and tails and are girls and have eyes the same and both have their hair up'

...I was just like....woman....get your ass back in the kitchen and make me a sandwich.

But she didn't listen D:

Freakin....god...damn...idiots - Mowgli - 06-18-2007

Because you didn't tell her what kind of sandwich, obviously...

Tell her that due to the fact episodes were made in adjacense to Toriyama`s manga volume publishings (which were slow), the anime creators were often forced to implement fillers in order to "fill" the time beetween publishings. Allthough these could be as small as a prolonged attack, they could have been as large as a story of it`s own a.k.a movie.

In conclusion, since these stories were made to entertain the viewers while Toriyama worked on the main storyline, they are not a part of the DBZ canon and even sometimes cause plot holes.

Freakin....god...damn...idiots - Deo - 06-18-2007

I'll try that. >_>;

Freakin....god...damn...idiots - Deo - 06-18-2007

BAH! She's asking me to give her an external link to prove my point now and to freakin' DEFINE the meaning of canon.

Freakin....god...damn...idiots - Violet - 06-18-2007

Tell her to stuf? Go get some fresh air before she dies of lack of oxygen? =\ I mean, seriously, if she wants to get technical about it, she's copying off Toriyama's original idea of saiyans, so who exactly is in the wrong here?

Freakin....god...damn...idiots - Mowgli - 06-18-2007

Oh snap!!

Freakin....god...damn...idiots - Nori - 06-18-2007

Show her the wikipedia article on the movies. It usually points out why the aren't canon.

Freakin....god...damn...idiots - Downy Peach - 06-18-2007

Generally, people who are that bothered about arguing a point will go and fossil up information themselves rather then asking other people to do it for them, except either when they're lazy or they know that they are infact going to be proven wrong. Since it's a girl, it's probably the latter.

Yes! ns, Vi.

Aaaaaaanyway, does it really matter? Why do you consider the movies to not be canon? I would say they are definitely canon, they just don't follow the storyline of the main series.

I tried finding a good definition of canon, but I couldn't find one that really supports either side of this argument. The only one I found that even seemed to apply at all was this:

"the works of an author that have been accepted as authentic"

That's one to live by.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Ball_Z#Filler

Paste her that. It basiclly says the same thing I did. If she isn`t pleased by the fact it is Wikipedia (some have a tendency to reject Wikipedia), then tell her to check the refferences and sources at the bottom of the page.

EDIT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filler_%28media%29

That is good too. Tell her to read the Anime bit.

EDIT2: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_%28fiction%29

And another.

Freakin....god...damn...idiots - Raditzu - 06-18-2007

Or don't ever use wikipedia as a credible source in an argument.

God I hate wikipedia.

Freakin....god...damn...idiots - Nori - 06-18-2007

I always use it as a credible source. Everything on Wikipedia is backed up by sources. It's just easier to find on Wikipedia then on other sites.
