I haven't played World at War (I kinda hate world war settings anyway), but I will vouch for CoD4's awesomeness. The whole levelling and perks thing made it the first online FPS I played for more than a week. Plus, prestige mode gives hardcore obsessives something to keep them occupied long-term without having to screw over casual gamers with a system where they'll never reach the top level (looking at you, every MMO).

In relation to the above, I hate how developers artificially increase the longevity of their games by spacing out abilities over gigantic experience gaps. It's basically pandering to people who have nothing better to do and will pay the subscription just to occupy themselves, in return for everyone else's fun.

Yea, World at War is a bit different, but it's awesome. I'm not too familiar with CoD:4, but my biggest qualm with World at War is juggern00bs. People who just excessively use the juggernaut perk because they suck so bad that there only chance is to get in a direct stand still fire fight and win because they have extra health. And everytime snipe i'm just sitting there like "money, kill." and hit them square in the chest, and the little health sign shows up and i scream "damned juggern00bs!" and shoot them again.

Pretty much every perk in CoD4 has been panned as 'gay' at some point. Juggernaut's just as valid a strategy as any other, not like you can't use it too if it's that cheap =o
I think most people bitch about juggernaut because it negates their stopping power. Ironically juggernaut is probably as popular as it is because of the number of snipers who use stopping power for one-hit kills.

Martyrdom is gay. It makes no sense that someone should be given the advantage of a dropped grenade with a 2.5 second fuse on death. That's idiotic. If I'm holed up somewhere, and kill a charging Rambo-fag, and he dies at just the right distance from me, it's impossible for me to get away in time. That's dumb.

Martyrdom is by far the most bitched-about perk. I knew as soon as I read about it, I was going to keep the ability on permanently. Mainly because my strategy in most games, CoD4 included, involves running in and just doing as much damage as I can before I die. I'd rather be a rambo-fag than a camper-fag.
I won't deny that it's a completely skill-less perk though.

I never use Martyrdom. My third slot is almost always Steady Aim (or, if I can't get it, Dead Silence).
You have to give Infinity Ward this; they did a great job of balancing the perks, so that the same set-up isn't always used.

All I'm going to say about Krillin's posts: WoW is not the only game people can get passionate about and bitch about despite thoroughly enjoying it. (example)
Oh, and I tend to be more of a Camper myself. I love to snipe. I absolutely can not fucking stand those people that insist that playing well involves running as fast as you can to whatever the game's version of a minigun/chaingun is and then running up to the opponent and hopping up and down like a seizuring Jack Russel Terrier hoping to god that your spray of bullets completely makes up for the lack of ability to aim. Its even more retarded when you see two people doing it, where they keep jumping through each other or something and half the time you know their camera is probably staring at the floor or ceiling, then the sniper headshots them both.
I don't chill in the same spot the entire game, I mean its pretty obvious once you pop some people a few times where the hell you are sniping from. I'm mobile about it, but I still like my range. My game play involves me doing the same thing I'd do if I was fishing (in Central Park, NY): sipping lattes and halfway taking a nap as I wait for some random fish to tug on my line - or get knifed.
