The Like/Hate Thread - Vad - 04-21-2009 Technology will eventually fix problems like this. IMO. The Like/Hate Thread - Jack - 04-21-2009 It would be a fantastic thing to create a human brain replica. Whoever does that would win like, a bajillion Nobels. The Like/Hate Thread - Celena - 04-21-2009 I like the fact that I went to watch a WWE show for the first time. The Like/Hate Thread - Kazuya - 04-21-2009 No shit, lol. Their great grandchildren for many generations would be still recieving them on the inventor's behalf. anyways. Quote:I hope your demons are on their way out... You can't expect to say such things about one of God's precious little children and then go unpunished, so I would repent if I were you... or you're in for it. You people posting vile things on the internet about my daughter, you are IN for it. There is a place for people with such hatred and perversion in their hearts, and believe me, it's not a place where you want to go. But that is where you are heading. In a nutshell, Jesus is your only hope. Or you're in for a good long (and well-deserved) burning. pulled from that website. See, I know everyone's entitled to their opinion, but this is the type of shit I hate. When you threaten someone like that just because they don't believe in your God. To me, that's being severely hypocritical. However, moving on to the actual baby, I don't think I could go through with a pregnancy knowing my child had such a severe birth defect. That's not to say that I wouldn't have a child who had a birth defect, but this is a case that aborting would be for the mercy of that child. Who knows what kind of pain it experiences? What parent would want their child to be in pain and not be able to do a thing about it? And then, to have it live and not be able to actually consciously experience it? Mental retardation is one thing, just because the lights don't appear to be on, doesn't mean someone's not in there, but Jeez, this child doesn't even have a brain to think with! Its all motor skill. That is a horrendous life, indeed. I don't quite know Reb's stance on this, but that's how I feel. If my child was so defected that it wouldn't otherwise be able to live a normal life, or be able to have some kind of conscious thought, then I would just try over again. I don't like to see babies suffer, much less how that child will suffer as it grows. This is perhaps the only case I really advocate for abortion. The Like/Hate Thread - Sage - 04-21-2009 Vad Wrote:Technology will eventually fix problems like this. IMO. How optimistic. The Like/Hate Thread - Sigfried Hunin - 04-22-2009 Eh, they're on the level of synthesizing the neurological systems of really, really simple bugs right now. We'll be there in like, 100-150 years. The Like/Hate Thread - Saz - 04-22-2009 Vad Wrote:Technology will eventually fix problems like this. IMO. Modern Technology is the reason this poor girl is alive in the first place. In times gone by, this woman would have had her baby, it would have died within hours, and the the circle of life would go on. The Like/Hate Thread - Sigfried Hunin - 04-22-2009 It is also responsible for the internet. The Like/Hate Thread - Kazuya - 04-22-2009 The internet is a great and terrible thing. But it does have porn, so that's its redeeming value. The Like/Hate Thread - Dehan - 04-22-2009 My mom being in the hospital. The Like/Hate Thread - Kazuya - 04-22-2009 =( The Like/Hate Thread - Ashe - 04-22-2009 Belle Hibiki Wrote:My "what" is that it shouldn't be making any sounds. It shouldn't be sitting up. I don't think you can do things like that without a brain directing shit. I was confused as hell by this too. Explain this to me: This baby has no brain, no conscious thought, no central guidance system. Its literally a mass of organs responding entirely off genetic coding at the DNA level in a completely instinctive response pattern. Its not "alive" in the sense of sentient. Other than being organic, it is no more alive than a toaster that responds to you dropping bread into it by heating up. I don't even understand why its basic organs are functioning by this point, though I guess its similar to a coma. Being in a coma, or even being completely brain dead, equates to you lying there with your body living and breathing while you lay there, having zero actual existence. You are no longer you, instead you have been replaced with a practically inanimate mass of still reproducing organs with no purpose. So how come someone who's brain shuts down will leave them a literal meat vegetable for decades, and yet someone without a brain at all can "sit up, coo, smile, and is actually gifted to being more intelligent than most her age"? Someone is totally full of shit. The Like/Hate Thread - Waffuru - 04-22-2009 Those are all the functions of the brain stem... that's all you need to survive. It covers all the involuntary functions. There is no thought, it's pure reaction. The Like/Hate Thread - Sigfried Hunin - 04-22-2009 Eh, the majority of the sensory portions are in the cortex portion of the brain. It wouldn't be able to see, hear, feel, taste or anything like that if it had a complete lack of either of it's hemispheres. It clearly has SOME of it's cortex left or it would be literally laying perfectly still, unmoving and silent. It appears to have a lesser extent of the malformation, but it is still mentally crippled beyond the fever dreams of the most retarded of those with downs syndrome, and probably completely unable of any coherent thought. Those take place on the surface of the brain in the frontal and prefrontal lobes for the most part. It's not even technically brain dead, it's just missing massive portions of what makes it more human a d less fleshy automaton. The Like/Hate Thread - Kazuya - 04-22-2009 The chick seems like a really huge religious fanatic. There's believing in God, and then there's just taking it to an entirely new level and making it just crazy. She's jumped over the crazy fence. The Like/Hate Thread - Jack - 04-22-2009 That happens for a reason. Anyone else would have aborted that baby, even religious people I'm sure. God gave her that baby because it wouldn't have experienced love any place else. Then I remember it doesn't have a brain and I'm just like totally saddened all over again. ='( The Like/Hate Thread - Kazuya - 04-22-2009 Your sig is really hot, Jack. The Like/Hate Thread - Jack - 04-22-2009 Daneos made it. He's my bitch. The Like/Hate Thread - Shun - 04-22-2009 What sig? >.> The Like/Hate Thread - Jonathan Meer - 04-22-2009 I like staying up most of the night, writing a presentation in German about why Bayern München is the best team ever. |
