Again, however, if you truly want to spread your creative wings, then go write a novel. I don't see a reason why the Staff should weaken the gameplay of the site simply so you (and maybe some other members, though I don't see any others speaking up) can do whatever you please. It doesn't work that way. The system's current setting is necessary. Lowering it any further would cause problems.
I don't see how it would. Outline the tech itself (Pyrokinesis, for example - put the limitations on it, what you can and can't do), how much effort is required to get it, and then let people train for it however they want. That simple.

What kind of chaos would occur if you did that? Just curious.

Reijin, I would quote myself again but that would get us nowhere. =( You didn't answer my question.

I'm not bothering with this debate anymore. This is exactly how every single one of your topics turns out, Greg, and I see absolutely no reason putting forth reasons that are simply going to be ignored time and time again. You've said your piece. We've said why we won't accept it.

And that's that.

Then I'm not really sure what to say, other than

"These are not the answers you are looking for..."

One thing I've noticed in these conversations with you, Greg, is that we'll give reasons for why we do a certain thing, yet you stubbornly push your position in spite of all the reasons, either ignoring them completely, or passing them aside as if they're rubbish.

I'm going to have to completely agree with Krillin, SB. We have no way to respond when we've given reasons for every single question/comment you've put forth. All we can do is quote what we've already said or begin ignoring the topic.

What question do you have that you don't think has been answered?

The only person who is limiting your creativity is you. Want to learn a technique in a unqiue manner? PM a staff member if they'll make sure you're within the rules of the RPG. It wouldn't be the first time. We can't write the rules for every tiny little exception but we do make them once in a blue moon.

And just so you know, you're not being constructive, you're being nit-picky.

dbl post warning!!

Okay, just so you know, most of these definition of people and places is per request. People want to know what they're dealing with. The who, what, where, why. People post in the Q/S/U and ask us to define these things. A lot of these are just the compendium of all our answered questions. You want less definition but in my experience you're the in the minority. If you want a technique to appear different, or learn it somehow other than we've defined or ANYTHING all you have to do is ask. We honestly make a lot of special rules for people to account in their creativity.

I don't know, I feel like you're attacking us because we're just trying to please the majority and make things managable for us instead of making sure everyone can do anything they want.

We don't have the man-power to make this a completely free-form epic RPG like you'd like... but I'm sorry, this is how we can run it and how we have run it for years.

edit: We do things case-by-case. Start a case and we'll work it out with you.
