Carcinogens like cigarattes and radiation are far more likely to cause cancer than genetic predisposition. The main reason we get cancer more often now than we used to is actually remarkably simple. We get older. It gives our cells more time to make cumulative mistakes. Remember, a cancer cell is (in part) just a normal cell that forgot how to die/stop reproducing.
