He got exponentially better in the Cell Saga. And then fighting Dabura and the whole mystic thing only made him more awesome.
Gohan's fight with Super Buu is probably my favorite in the series.
But during the first couple sagas, yeah, he was pretty annoying.

What was good about his fight with Dabura? He could not even tranform into a ssj2 anymore and looked like a moron in front of his dad. Goku was embarrassed and Vegeta was disgusted.

But yeah, it looked very pretty, I found it boring though, felt like 30 minutes worth of what would have been considered filler in the series, most of which atleast.

I felt this was pretty much the direct OPPOSITE of filler. How many episodes are you introduced to a new villain, their backstory, AND see their demise in the same episode?
I liked it. Not enough former villains though.
