Questions - Orion - 11-08-2009 1. Do our characters have maps or any knowledge of the lay of the land? 2. In regards to dusting. It says that we have to reach a bunker every 4 OOC days and our collars will be reset. So for instance, if I were to enter a bunker on the first day, I wouldn't require to enter another bunker for nearly 7 OOC days? Or is it 4 OOC days from when your collar is reset? Questions - Celena - 11-09-2009 You said CA wouldnt' play any part in DA, but after reading the fight section of the rules, you say the outcome of fights will be determined by a player's writing quality and strengh. What exactly do you mean by 'strength'?" You also said, "closer fights will result in non-kills, but if there’s a larger difference in strength and writing skill, fights will result in a kill. All death is fake death." Again, what do you mean by 'strength'? Questions - DA 2009 - 11-09-2009 Orion Wrote:1. Do our characters have maps or any knowledge of the lay of the land? 1.) No, they don't have a map or knowledge of the lay of the land. 2.) Basically, how it works is this. Each collar is synchronized to the same clock, so each detonation timer goes off at the same time. The bunkers temporarily disable the signal, and at a designated time, the signal reactivates. So you have to visit a bunker at least once every four days. Using an example, the first detonation is set for Wednesday at 11:59 PM. Whether you entered a bunker on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, the next time the collar goes off will be four days from Wednesday, which will be Sunday. Entering a bunker works only once every 24-hour period, so you could, if you were so inclined, visit a bunker every single day. The idea is to try and time it so you don't get stuck in a Combat Day that overlaps with a detonation without having visited one. Does that make sense? What exactly do you mean by 'strength'?" Strength is in regards to Point Value. Strength is normally measured by Combat Ability, but it is replaced by Point Values in this DA. I tried to word it so I didn't use terminology from later sections so it could be understood sequentially. Questions - Kaden - 11-09-2009 Just so I'm 100% clear, our characters do not have access to Techniques and Custom Techs that require PP? Even just for RPing? Questions - Kaden - 11-09-2009 How much freedom to we have in our RPing? Is the "island" completely devoid of all life except for the players? Questions - Orion - 11-09-2009 DA 2009 Wrote:Does that make sense? It does, thanks. Questions - Shou - 11-09-2009 Can fights occur outside of combat days? Sorry if you answered this somewhere, I'm looking. Questions - Tamsin - 11-09-2009 Is the city in the City Sector actually Roman in nature, like on the map? Or is it a modern city? Questions - DA 2009 - 11-09-2009 Kaden Wrote:Just so I'm 100% clear, our characters do not have access to Techniques and Custom Techs that require PP? Even just for RPing? Correct. The program will not allow you to access those techniques. You can try, but you'd fail. The characters are also not aware they are in a program, nor should they have any reason to suspect. Kaden Wrote:How much freedom to we have in our RPing? You can role-play other people or animals or whatever you'd like. They'd all be artificial, of course, but again, it will seem like it's real to the players. Shou Wrote:Can fights occur outside of combat days? Sorry if you answered this somewhere, I'm looking. If you want to get into an altercation with somebody, be my guest. It doesn't, however, affect anything. You can't kill or eliminate anybody, nor can you earn or lose points, outside of a Combat Day. Tamsin Wrote:Is the city in the City Sector actually Roman in nature, like on the map? Or is it a modern city? It is whatever you want it to be. The map is just a symbolic representation. The Sectors are big enough that there can be room for multiple interpretations. Questions - Kaden - 11-09-2009 What's the verdict on group movement? Can one person add in movement for a group of people that are RPing together, or does each person have to RP and include their movement separately? Questions - Ashe - 11-09-2009 Hey, oops, I included a map since I missed that part. I assumed it wasn't in the rules portion and thus ok. I'll not bring up the map again after that, but what about information regarding what the contest is about? I included that in my post as well so that our characters would understand WHY they needed to get to bunkers and such (and what the map thing was there for too). Questions - Rem-13 - 11-09-2009 So one person can see the city as 'Rome' and another as 'New York'? Questions - Vad - 11-10-2009 If we drop out or lose do we get free transportation to a planet of our choosing? Or are we shipped back to the place we came from? I have this itch. An itch to massacre South City. Questions - DA 2009 - 11-10-2009 Kaden Wrote:What's the verdict on group movement? That includes bunkers as well. Ashe Wrote:Hey, oops, I included a map since I missed that part. I assumed it wasn't in the rules portion and thus ok. My bad. Answer is here. Rem-13 Wrote:So one person can see the city as 'Rome' and another as 'New York'? Sophia suggested that it be portrayed as a modern city by everyone for a sense of consistency. However, if you'd like to do something different than that, you can role-play a different section of the Sector as looking like Rome. It is a very large area, so it's plausible for one corner to look like Rome, another to look like New York, etcetera. I think what you're asking though is if the Sector looks different to each beholder. That would be a little more tricky, but if you can pull it off, more power to you. Vad Wrote:If we drop out or lose do we get free transportation to a planet of our choosing? Or are we shipped back to the place we came from? I don't see why not. Questions - Sage - 11-10-2009 So... if we get dusted. Is that a real death? I think I may be unclear on that. Questions - DA 2009 - 11-10-2009 Sage Wrote:So... if we get dusted. Is that a real death? I think I may be unclear on that. It was originally, but it's not anymore. Although, y'know, if people want to die, I can totally make it happen. I have teh powah. Quote:Every 4 OOC days, the timed explosives are programmed to remotely detonate, “dusting” (disintegrating) the player. If a player’s collar is detonated, they are automatically eliminated and ejected from the game, as well as taking a -8 deduction from their final Point Value. Questions - Sage - 11-10-2009 Yeah, I'm cool with not real death-ing it up. Questions - Alexander Trafford - 11-10-2009 I have a question about the strength points. So, basically your average prelimary RP score, or your first RP score in the game if you did not RP, acts as your starting amount of strength points. Now, i'm under the impression that only Combat days impact this strength level, with a +2/+4 or -2/-4. If so, then the RP's we make outside of combat days serve only as our own amusement? And to survive in terms of dusting related deaths? Or do our non-combat day RPs have some impact on our survival in this game? The RP Score acts like a "boost" to your Point Value. Quote:RP SCORE While it may not sound like a lot, a few extra points to your Point Value may make a difference in your fight. It may save you from losing or being eliminated, or it may help you win or give you the edge you needed to make a kill. Role-plays serve the functions of movement, bunker entrance, RP Score, and help me judge fights. Judging is two-fold: Point Value + RP Score, and role-play quality in a comparative sense to who you are fighting. |
