As usual, though, it's not really worth the risk to try and lynch someone on Day 1. We still run too great a risk of killing someone that would be beneficial to us, especially in a John Doe game. With his distaste for the sheriff, I assume we're working with multiple roles that gather less information instead of one that gathers lots.

I doubt there are many roles, I'd even go so far as to say their are a few without any roles other than being a townsperson.
