Alcohol, cigarettes, vices - Psyren - 07-11-2011 I used to drink Captain Morgan at my buddies houses during lan partys. I honestly loved it ,it was the first liquor I had ever drank. I used to chase it with Jose Quervo (sp?) (Didnt drink much only had about 2 shots of each). I prfer beer honestly over hard liqours. My favorite has always been Corona with a littel bit of lime or a few dash's of salt. As far as cigarettes, Cant stand um. Only smoked Cigars. Eh im a major light weight lol Alcohol, cigarettes, vices - Sigfried Hunin - 07-12-2011 Vad Wrote:A white russian, Sigfriend? Really? So. Fucking. Good. PS: You can totally smoke once and a while and not suffer any ill effects. Smoking a few times a year, even like once or twice a month really doesn't have a negative effect on ya... Also, amphetamines are the way to go Rose. Alcohol, cigarettes, vices - Rem-13 - 07-12-2011 When did it start being cool to smoke again? For most of my teenage years it was always a dirtball thing smoking, but now I hear my 16 year old pseudo-hipster nephew is doing it with his friends and its baffling. Don't get me wrong, he can do what he likes. I'm not judging in a moral sense, but more in the way one judges another in their taste for food. Fir srs question, what does one get out of cigarettes besides the addiction? I can only assume that's why so so many WWII soldiers smoked. Alcohol, cigarettes, vices - Tyr - 07-12-2011 Rem-13 Wrote:When did it start being cool to smoke again? That's at least what I was told by the doctor and two smokers. I saw this "in action" personally by watching my grandma who has smoked all her life just going straight cold turkey because she didn't get a kick out of it anymore anyway. My mom unfortunately goes back to it, but she's incredibly polite and goes everything out of her way not to let the smoke harm anyone but herself. Alcohol, cigarettes, vices - Jonathan Meer - 07-12-2011 It is soothing and mind-clearing. Makes you more alert, but relaxed. Alcohol, cigarettes, vices - Jarka - 07-12-2011 Not being snarky, but are you sure that's not a correlation, while the relaxation is actually caused by the slow, controlled breating performed while inhaling a cigarette? I find it hard to believe that a stimulant alone would calm a person. While this probably doesn't relate to Nicotine and Cigarettes it's important to note. While this probably doesn't relate to Nicotine and Cigarettes it's important to note. I'm well aware of that, but the overwhelming majority of cigarette smokers seem to say it relaxes them. I'm making a broad leap of logic, but if the chemical and hormonal brain composition of smokers could be assumed to be an accurate representation of the general population, the overwhelming majority of cigarette smokers should be affected by the nicotine as a stimulant. Just saying, that relaxed mood is probably 50% placebo, 50% meditative breathing. Alcohol, cigarettes, vices - Jonathan Meer - 07-13-2011 *shrug*? Alcohol, cigarettes, vices - Sophia - 07-13-2011 I think Jarka's point is largely that if you can achieve the same results without cigarettes, then there's no reason to smoke them. I think, though, that the biggest point is being overlooked here: Smoking is cool, and everyone knows it. Alcohol, cigarettes, vices - Jonathan Meer - 07-13-2011 If I could get anything resembling the same effect without smoking, I would. EDIT: It's been about four weeks since my last cigarette, and three weeks since my last pipe bowl. For perspective. Alcohol, cigarettes, vices - Vad - 07-13-2011 I enjoy the taste more than anything... Alcohol, cigarettes, vices - Sigfried Hunin - 07-13-2011 Nicotine has been proven over and over again as a stimulant. The relaxation may be due to the breathing. It's probably a combo of holding your breath. So Jarka, yeah, I mean, there are some breathing effects, and f COURSE there's a placebo, but you can get like, ALL FUCKED UP on nicotine. I know this because I once went to a hookah bar and had to finish the fuckin bowl cause DAMNED if I'm gonna pay for it and not smoke it... I was sick to my gut and shaky as fuck, got that weird trackign thing with my eyes. Was crazy. Also, it has like, positive effects in small doses. Like being more alert and relaxed.
