I don't know what the Royal Marines do, but I know one thing. The training the US Marines go through is ridiculous. Got to run through a few days of their training at a camp once, and oh man, they break you down, and rip your body to shreds. So, I'm going to have to side with the USMC.

But I'd actually kinda have to agree with that stereotype that all Americans are fat. We are. However, appearance-wise, the majority of us are perfectly fine. However, by world standards, we overweight. It's more of a matter of comparison. That's not saying we don't have some obese people here though.

This thread should be renamed to "who's better? The marines of your homeland, or some guys you know nothing about?"

Best of the best? - Tobias - 11-17-2005

Thread should be renamed "Pie: savior or antichrist?"

While your Royal Marines are busy eating tea and crumpets and playing polo the USMC gets to the killin'. Hoo-rah!

This sums up pretty much everything I hate about US views of other countries in one sentence. Tongue I've gotten used to it, and the knowledge that Garlic's joking around means I don't take it seriously, but the fact that many people actually think that's what the UK is like makes me a sad person Sad Bring out the BBC English stereotypes someone.

From my horribly biased view I'd have to say the US marines are less disciplined. We (or at least I) have all been regaled with stories from Iraq where US troops have been killing unarmed civilians left and right, but I have no desire to go into depth on this subject Wink I haven't been in the field of battle myself, so I can't comment first-hand on the skill of the troops. And, like all collections of people, an army is only as good as the individuals that make it up. Not ALL members of a good army are good, and vice versa.

OMFG I know you have to be joking, the U.S. Marines are the most well Disciplined fighters out there, please don't insult the honor of the United States Marine Corps without so much as having "hear say" to defend yourself. I'm highly offended since I will hopefully myself be a Marine in the not to distant future and since I have many friends and family members in the service.

If you're going to do that, your two options had better be:

1) Savior

2) I'm a discriminatory bastard who hates life, freedom, and justice

And throw in some witty crack about arabs just for good measure.

I think it all depends on what side your on. The pie nazis are not gentle, but thier rule is just.

I think that's the most sensical thing I've read in the whole thread...
Some of the other things I've read since my last post, I'm not even going to comment upon.

since we saved your sorry asses twice.

I think that was more accidental. America only entered the war because Japan bombed them, not before.

Best of the best? - Tobias - 11-17-2005

And the first time we only entered when german subs
1. angered the people due to loss of american life on foreign ship that hey were warned not to go on and
2. made it so we couldn't profit off the thing anymore.

Sorry. the US Marines are just better and I am HIGHLY biased. My daddy is a Marine, my brother is a Marine, a LOT of my closest and most dear friends are Marines, and if the military was my thing instead of teaching then I'd be in 'em too.

OORAH!

Whoah now, I know that the US Marines train in close order drill for the main purpose of discipline. It's something we work for right along side with marksmanship. So don't tell us we undisciplined. Our training is intense, Recruits die trying to earn the title of Marine. It isn't a joke, it's not a game. It's real life, and real combat situations. We practice at an early stage for what's coming up. The incidents in Iraq? If they were true, then it was the Army. Every video footage you've seen with iraqi prisoners have been with Army soldiers in it. If you didn't know that by the uniform, then there, I just told you. There's a big difference between the army and the Marines. You know, after we first went in, dominated, and got out, the army was supposed to stay in and hold down the fort. Why do you think we Marines had to go back in there? Cuz the army was fucking up, and dieing left and right. So because of them, they called back in the Marines. We are the elite fighting force for the United States. There is no other branch in any other country who trains as hard as we do, and fights as well as we do. I can choose somebody in the heart or heard from 500 yards away (5 foot ball fields) without a scope. Tell me something, who here can do that? Only reason why I can is through the Marine Corps training, and if you received it, you would be able to shoot that as well. Sure i'm biased, i'm a damn Marine, but i've seen others, and frankly, none has been through the hell that i've experienced trying to become a Marine.

Semper Fi, Do or Die.

Ranger....'nuff said. XD. I agree though...the Marines are a very well disiplined group of killing machines...but a Ranger would pwn you.

No, The Rangers are hard core by amry standards, but what you fail to realize Slug is that the Marines are the elite force of the U.S., only other exception are Navy Seals who in my book are just as well trained.

Rangers are good, very good, but talk to anyone who has fought along side an army ranger, my cousin is a Captain in the Marine Corps and just recently got back from Iraq, in his decade plus of service he has worked with rangers and has told me though they are good no boot camp is tougher then the Marines and no one is more Leathal then a Marine. Simply put Marines pwn every other branch no questions asked.

Your right, we both have our opinions and neither of us are going to win an anrguement that could go on forever, point is I think Marines are the Best, you think Rangers are, opinion is opinion anyway this is locked.
