Just wanted to add to this. Sony was supposed to release a chip that would ensure backwards compatibility. And they didn't. And they won't release it any time soon.

She's not European, though. 18's PS3 would have the Emotion Engine in it and the backwards compatibility would work.

o.0

The Emotion Engine was taken out of the PS3, according to Sony, to enhance the performance of its "next-gen" specs.

I keep hearing about these "bugs" in the PS3...same with the PS2, but I've never had a problem with either, and I had my PS2 since the year it came out. Sad

I've never had problems with my PS2. Seriously, not a single one.

I haven't heard of any consistent bugs with PS3s, either.

Ps3 - Kirano - 03-03-2007

I'll wait till christmas, when the price drops.

Ps3 - Raditzu - 03-03-2007

Why are people expecting a price drop?

Ps3 - Vegeta - 03-03-2007

Haha, the price won't drop.

The Playstation 2 was a downright remarkable system. A little dated compared to GameCube and Xbox, perhaps, and the online system wasn't top-notch, but then, it was free.

I imagine the Playstation 3 is a very solid system, technically. The screens I've seen for FFXIII (and other games, but most importantly this game) are phenomenal. It's simply unreal. The Playstation 3 has had a very mediocre start, but with the upcoming games to be released, I think Sony will certainly stay afloat. I certainly plan to eventually add a PS3 to my collection.

Nonetheless, I am rather wary. As I said, despite promise on the horizon, the PS3 has had a rather rough start, and I want to make absolutely certain it will make itself worth $600. Until then, I will be buying a Wii and a 360, in that order.

On a further note, I've never, ever had issues with my slim PS2. Never. It tends to get a little hot every once in awhile, but it's never burst into flames or anything.

Yeah, I meant add to the argument and stuff, not to the original answer... >.>

It will, eventually. I can't imagine it staying that price, at 08.

Ps3 - Vegeta - 03-03-2007

I don't think the PS3 had a rough start at all. They sold/shipped a million units by the start of 07, how's that rough? They got a lot of bad press but most of it was stupid people, and not Sony or the system's fault.

Right now I'm in the process of buying a shitload of games for my ps2, only for the simple fact that I have the cash for a ps3... but I refuse to pay 600 bucks for a damn game system which doesn't even come with a free game lol.

That just seems absurd to me.

Aw come on, you got to admit the really absurd thing is the fact when the ps2 came out it came with two free games, the racoon bandit thingie and a racing game, at least the one I got.

But like I said that's just me, if I were 18 I'd go with the ps2, there's more than enough awesome games that's out for it...once more though that's just me. BTW if the price doesn't drop I'll just buy a 360 or even a wii.

While the PS3 is certainly not fatally wounded, as some extremists have suggested, the Playstation 3's launch did not quite match up to expectations. I'm not necessarily faulting Sony themselves for this. A combination of bad press and a high price brought about a somewhat disappointing start.

Again, though, I hardly think the PS3 is going down the shitter.

Ps3 - Vegeta - 03-04-2007

Were you alive for the 360 launch?

Ps3 - Sammah - 03-04-2007

Word.

Ps3 - Tenshinhan - 03-06-2007

I have a ps3...

There's is absolutly nothing wrong with it, it's actually pretty damn sweet.

The only downside I saw was the systems updates, which I don't actually know how long they take, because I fell asleep. And you do need to do them in order to play online...

But when you are online it's awsome.

If you have the money... I fully recomend it!

*thumbs up*

((Yes I am actually still here))

Ps3 - Dehan - 03-06-2007

So the new ps3 already comes with the online hookup? No need to buy an adapter adapter right?

Ps3 - Vegeta - 03-06-2007

Both models come with an ethernet port, and the 60gb model comes with built in 802.11g.

Online play is free.

As for system updates, I've never had to update more than 1 version at time since I've had my PS3 since launch but usually it never takes more than 5-10 minutes. Depending on your internet connection, of course.

Ps3 - Dehan - 03-06-2007

But for the ps2 don't you have to buy an seperate thing to play online? Or am I just retarded...feel free to leave my second question unanswered.

Ps3 - Vegeta - 03-06-2007

Yeah.

I really love playing Resistance:FoM online. It's always fun.
