2007 RP Awards DISCUSSION - Aqua - 01-21-2008

So let me get this straight... people want to win an award but no one wants to take the time to nominate other worth while work/ people? This had 10x as much attention last year! I know there was more to choose from but a lot of it comes down to down right laziness >.<

If there's no interest, then fine... I guess. But this is a pretty cool event for larger communities like this one and it takes some freaking INTERACTION. Stop waiting for other people to do stuff for you, and HELP. It seriously takes 15 minutes max. I've seen dozens of you floating around this site waiting for activity to land in your lap. Activity breeds activity, so do your part and be active ooc and ic. The site isn't going to spontaneously combust into a frenzy of activity for you. Everyone has to take the initiative to actively participate in board-wide events. Things are slowly starting to pick back up, and I'd really like to see these awards go off well because I think that if we put sufficient effort into this, these awards become a source of pride and encourage even greater effort and activity IC.

I know that, in the back of my mind, I was contemplating the potential for an award nomination as I typed several of own threads. If you could care less about rewards, fine, but this is still a writing community and award programs like this encourage people to read other works and recognize the effort others have put in.

So, PLEASE, help me out and take 15 minutes from your busy board lurking, to put up some nominations.

2007 RP Awards DISCUSSION - Bujin - 01-21-2008

You're not going to get any nominations with that attitude.

But fine, I'll look into it since you asked, like, five times. xD

2007 RP Awards DISCUSSION - Aqua - 01-21-2008

Thank you, and the attitude stems from over two weeks of waiting for people to participate.

2007 RP Awards DISCUSSION - Aero - 01-21-2008

I would vote and all, but the thing is, '07 was slow.

2007 RP Awards DISCUSSION - Aqua - 01-21-2008

Then there should be less material for you to have to sift through.

2007 RP Awards DISCUSSION - Aero - 01-22-2008

That's like giving out the NFL MVP award during a strike year.

2007 RP Awards DISCUSSION - Aqua - 01-22-2008

There was some quality work put out by many of us. If you don't agree, then you don't have to nominate anyone. But I'm very proud of the work that I have done in the past year, as I'm sure many of the people who mustered the time of day to keep this board alive are. Quality work was put out, so to say nominating people for that work is like nominating scrub players in an NFL strike is arrogant and a douchebag statement. The people who RPed this past year are some of the same people who were nominated for (and even earned) RPing awards last year.

2007 RP Awards DISCUSSION - Aero - 01-22-2008

What I'm saying is that nominating people for awards during a year of writing turmoil isn't worth nominating. Not because they're 'scrubs', but because the quality and quantity of the work in 07 wasn't as stern as previous years.

2007 RP Awards DISCUSSION - Kirano - 01-22-2008

Gokua has a point. 07 on chubbs was the equivalent to the depression period in America. Chubbs hit an all time low after the turnover conspiricy. I'm hoping things become positive this year.

2007 RP Awards DISCUSSION - Aqua - 01-22-2008

I joined Aug '06 and was nominated for nearly every category last year. I've posted twice as much in '07. My point is that not every RPer sat on their ass and did nothing in '07, and not every RPer posted less. Some of us were relatively active throughout. All that aside, the best of '07 is exactly that, the best of '07. All side notes and addendums taken into consideration. Again, if you're going to whine about that fact that most of the board was doing nothing for most of the year, then just don't nominate anyone.

You know what... fuck it. I'm sorry I tried to spur some interest and activity. We can all just go back to sitting around and waiting for something to do to fall from the sky. I love how when someone takes the initiative to do something fun, everyone has to shit on it. All this required was for a few of you to take 15 minutes from your busy day of lurking around the board (and I've watched at least a dozen of you float around this board for a few days now for hours at a time without posting a thing, so don't give me "I'm soooo busy" bull shit) to graze through a few quality threads and post some names and links. Seriously, my nominations took me 15 minutes to prepare. For all the time some of you take up squabbling over stupid shit, you could have done this three times over by now even if every single day was packed for you.

Point blank, if you can make the time to nominate the BEST OF 07, then please do. If you think it's stupid because most people were too lazy to post this past year, than don't. This isn't the best RPers of all time awards, this is the best of 07. Whatever limited activity there may have been in 07, there was activity and there is material to choose from. Of that material, I thought it would be neat to see what people thought was the best. Guess that was too much to ask. Christ.

I don't really agree at all. Look at DA for an example of some epic RPing all around.

Not all of 07 was awful. It was really only the latter half of the year that things really started to slow down. And then that was all people could think about, and then everyone decided to attach a stigma to everything that was written.

If you don't agree, go prove me wrong, but there is enough very good writing out there to have several solid candidates for each category.

2007 RP Awards DISCUSSION - Kirano - 01-23-2008

Of course, DA is always the highlight of the year. It's like the wrestlemania of wrestling, the biggest spectical. Epic RP'ing is always the showcase of an event of such great porportion. I was just saying 07 wasn't as great as 06. I always feel each new year in chubbs the meter should be raised, not generally in terms of the quality in RP's, but in entertainment and participation. Of course, it's no excuse for not wanting to nominate this year. I actually realise that the reluctance to nominate is down to peoples decrease in morale and nothig else.

2007 RP Awards DISCUSSION - Aqua - 01-23-2008

I think it has to do with the same reason activity went down: laziness.

2007 RP Awards DISCUSSION - Nappa - 01-23-2008

If you still want nominations posted, I can get around to doing some tonight.

2007 RP Awards DISCUSSION - Aqua - 01-23-2008

That would be awesome, thanks.

2007 RP Awards DISCUSSION - Nappa - 01-23-2008

No problem.

2007 RP Awards DISCUSSION - Aqua - 01-26-2008

So I guess this isn't going to happen... that's too bad...

2007 RP Awards DISCUSSION - Retane - 01-27-2008

I never saw a nomination thread... or I"m blind?

2007 RP Awards DISCUSSION - Bujin - 01-27-2008

Both, I'd wager.

2007 RP Awards DISCUSSION - Amadeus - 01-27-2008

Aqua, why are you getting so frustrated over this? Yes, it`s too bad people didn`t send more nominations. But since the situation is as such, just take into account the nominations you have and declare the winners. Hopefully, it will be better next year but this year thats all you can preety much do.

I personally didn`t send any nominations beacuse I`m not that well connected with the entire RP scene. I`m really not in a position to nominate people for the awards.
