HEY - Mowgli - 01-15-2008 Paragus: -_- You don't listen to rap. Shut up, Kenny. About Will Smith: What about Ali? Bad Boys I and II? Those two weren't bad, in my opinion at least. HEY - Jeice - 01-15-2008 To be completely honest, he's up there on my favorite actors list. I think he does do a pretty great job in the majority of his movies, Pursuit of Happiness, Bad Boys I and II, Ali, I am Legend, even his old work like MIB wasn't bad and you know you've watched them all and watched them all more then once. HEY - Spencinator - 01-15-2008 Bra Wrote:Yeah. He rocked in it. But, as someone whose name escapes me at the moment said, in all his other roles, he's The Fresh Prince of Independence Day, or The Fresh Prince of the Wild Wild West, etc. I'unno, I think there are some other roles he proved to have good character variation in, such as Hitch and the Pursuit of Happyness. I'll certainly agree that he seems to recycle his rolls from time to time, but I don't think that makes him a bad actor. A little uncreative, maybe, but certainly not untalented. HEY - Bojack - 01-15-2008 You just have to give it time. At first he was (going to be) a scholarship student at MIT, then he gave that up to be a rapper (which, regardless of what people say, he succeeded as), then he stopped that for a tv show (in my opinion, one of the better sitcoms ever), and now he's given that up to do movies (and currently rawking your bawzerz I might add). Will Smith is pretty much the personification of how much human beings can accomplish. That said, I agree his acting was very much 'same-ish' at first, but now he's totally breaking free of that. IMO, Ali wasn't that great of a role... it was a good movie but it was still like I was watching Will Smith. Pursuit of Happyness is a COMPLETELY different story. I was watching a poor man persist through a broken underrung of the American economic system, not 'that guy Will Smith was playing'. And I Am Legend is an extension of that same shit. Don't be hatin'. =o HEY - Spencinator - 01-15-2008 Bojack Wrote:You just have to give it time. Bojack, gtf on AIM man. I want to talk to you about Hancock. D= HEY - Kirano - 01-15-2008 My favourite actors: Al Pacino and Samuel L Jackson. Enough said. Favourite actress: Jodie Foster. She may not be a babe, but damn can she act. HEY - Aero - 01-15-2008 He was good in the Pursuit of Happiness too. >.> HEY - Bojack - 01-15-2008 Kirano Wrote:My favourite actors: Al Pacino and Samuel L Jackson. Enough said. Jackson fails. He gets good roles and, consequently, is hailed as this great actor. He talks shit like nobody else and can play the best angry black man ever, but other than that he's ew. Coach Carter was cool, but he had to be one of the weaker components of the film. Black Snake Moan was pretty good too, and he played a cool role in that one. Actually, I guess he's not bad, just overrated. i.e. him being in the same tier of acting ability as Al Pacino; wtf. I used to like Nicholos Cage and Russel Crowe but idk about them anymore. Spence wtf is a Hancock? If it's anything like it sounds then no. HEY - Mowgli - 01-15-2008 It's Will Smith's newest movie. No, it's not what it sounds like. lol HEY - Kirano - 01-15-2008 I always knew you were tastless Bojack. To say he fails is to say he isn't a good actor, which means you're nuts. Samuel L. Jackson also played Mr. Freeze in The Incredibles and Mace Windu in SW: II,III. Also, he played a good role in Pulp Fiction. He's awesome. HEY - Bojack - 01-16-2008 He was amazing in Pulp Fiction. And pretty cool in Unbreakable. But he aint 'da man' or anything like that. HEY - Mowgli - 01-16-2008 Wasn't he actually in a movie called "The Man"? HEY - Aero - 01-16-2008 xD I think so. And even if he wasn't, he was Shaft. Which, in other words, means he's the man. HEY - Bojack - 01-16-2008 I think so. Always 'the man', or 'bad motha' this, 'hollin and cussin mamma jamma' that. And then he tries a serious role about a rational, regular human being (Coach Carter) and he FAILED. All his speeches sucked. The Rock was a better 'coach' in Gridiron Gang, Billy Bob Thornton was fantastic in Friday Night Lights, everyone knows Denzel was amazing in Remember The Titans, Pacino in Every Given Sunday... even Gene Hackman played a better coach in THE COMEDY THAT FAILED The Replacements, which starred Keanu fuckin' Reaves. BELIEVE IT ![]() PS: That reminds me. Afro Samurai? SUCKED PSS: But I can respect you having him as a favorite actor. He's just not one of mine, the reasons being above. HEY - Bra - 01-16-2008 I think it's funny. I was like, "Smith rocked in I Am Legend" and everyone still uses that as an example, even though I agreed entirely. Also, I never saw Pursuit of Happiness, and I'm sure he probably did a good job. If you look back, though, you'll never read anything I wrote that says Smith sucks. I actually think he's pretty darn good. I just took a dig because of the same-ness of most of his comedy/action roles. I didn't say I didn't like Independence Day. I just said he wasn't a groundbreaking actor in it. Rest assured, I don't mind him as an actor. HEY - Jeice - 01-16-2008 Things are going crazy in my "whats up how's it going thread". Anyway, to carry on, I just watched Raging Bull for the first time and I have to say De Niro is hands down my favorite actor. My carrying on was switching actors to De Niro to argue over .I cant name a movie where he gave a bad performance, even in his more recent roles he's still doing a great job. HEY - Spencinator - 01-16-2008 Mowgli Wrote:It's Will Smith's newest movie. No, it's not what it sounds like. lol Yeah, it's about a alcoholic superhero named Hancock who is despised by society as a public menace. =D HEY - Bojack - 01-16-2008 Spencinator Wrote:Yeah, it's about a alcoholic superhero named Hancock who is despised by society as a public menace. =D OMG, I must see this. pics or it didnt happen btw @Jeice: Have you seen all the Scorcese movies? My favorite was Taxi Driver (DENIRO!), but it might be The Departed after seeing it. No DeNiro in The Departed but it was pretty amazing. He was great in Goodfellas and Casino, but I think Pesci was the real star of those films. And watch The Good Sheppard. DeNiro has a small role, but Pesci has an amazing cameo scene. HEY - Jeice - 01-16-2008 Yeah, I've seen most Scorcese movies and the majority if not all are amazing lol. See my problem with Pesci is that he has the same role in pretty much every movie, I mean analyze his character from Good Fellas, Casino, Raging Bull, hell even Home Alone, and he plays pretty much the same guy. Dont get me wrong, he's a great actor, but the variety of his work is limited. |
