WallE or Wanted? - Reijin - 06-27-2008

Not really that interested in seeing the Hulk. Just because I've enjoyed movies that fall into the category of superhero movies does not necessarily mean that I am apeshit for the entire category itself. I also have not seen Electra, Punisher, barely watched Daredevil, didn't mind the two Fantastic Four movies, etc.

That said, I watched Wall-E, and it was made of adorable, cute, and awesome. It was quite enjoyable. I'm going to go see Wanted on Monday.

I also now cannot wait to see Bolt. That gerbil/hamster is awesome. So me.

Just a heads up Reijin, if you have ever enjoyed a superhero movie, I'm fairly certain you'll enjoy Hulk. It was one of the better movies I've seen.

Yeah, I'm not saying I won't see it, but with all the movies that are coming out soon and those already out, I can only afford to have to cherry pick which ones I can make right now. Time costs, mainly. I also have a wife to take into account when choosing (she enjoyed Iron Man though enough to watch it twice.)

WallE or Wanted? - Hellfighter 17 - 06-27-2008

I've never enjoyed a movie enough to watch it twice unless it came on the TV.

At least Wanted is only getting luke-warm reviews.

I'm just pissed because it's based off an extraordinary story, yet they remove all the shit that made it great in the first place. It was made 3 years ago for Christ's sake, it's not like it needs to be modernized... I don't get it. It's an insult to Frank Millar to just go "ok, were gonna do a movie about your greatest work, but we're gonna fix it so brainless teens will spend their money to see a loser adolescent protagonist and a chick with big tits".

I'm not arguing that you need to keep things original, but call it something else. It's nothing like the comic, it doesn't need to be named after it. =/

(I guess I'm just a hippie when it comes to the relationship between art and money)

WallE or Wanted? - Reijin - 06-27-2008

I think people like that though are the ones that are still bitching that "Iron Man didn't blatantly show Tony Stark to be an alcoholic, wtf, they butchered him". When. It. Clearly. Did.

WallE or Wanted? - Bojack - 06-27-2008

Nah, those are like REALLY bad examples of fanboyism. If they had like, made Tony Stark a sex therapist instead of an arms dealer, then we'd have the same kind of problem. Even if the movie was still awesome, wtf, he's not a sex therapist.

WallE or Wanted? - Burter - 06-27-2008

It was a good movie. That's all I'm saying. If you forget the fact that it's based off of a comic book, and just see it as a straight up action flick, then it's a good movie.

You guys liked Jumper, right?

You do realize that the entire Paladin angle is in no way affiliated with the books and was made completely for the movie and its franchise right?

Did this in any way ruin the movie for anyone or did it give it plot?

I loved it.

FREUD: That is homoeroticism at its very best. I want in.

WallE or Wanted? - Reijin - 07-01-2008

Ok, I loved it. Not much more to say than that. My friend tried to warn me before "its alright, but lots of inconsistencies" but I didn't really notice anything.

Yeah, not much of a fan of the Jumper movie. However, I really enjoyed the concept Jumper was based off of. So when I heard it had a book, I picked that up. I have to say that I prefer the source material over the movie. It explores a lot of real issues, like domestic abuse and the like. The movie sort of glossed all this over for the conflict with the Paladins. Now I wouldn't have minded the shit with the Paladins had they not been so lax on developing the bad guys motives more other then 'fuck, we don't want you to have this because god says so.'

EDIT: To be fair tho', I'm not sure a lot of what was in the book would transition well into the big screen.

WallE or Wanted? - Hellfighter 17 - 07-02-2008

Wanted is hopefully a sign that Hollywood will start making awesome actions movies frequently again. Like I told my friends after we watched it, 'It's like they mixed concentrated awesomeness with win.'

EDIT: Also, I finally saw Jumper the other day, and it was horrid. I think the concept is pretty awesome, and might work in the book, but it would probably take more ideas than what they showed.

WallE or Wanted? - Zangya - 07-04-2008

Saw Get Smart today. Good movie. I loved it, laughed out loud. Steve Carell is a comedic genius, Anne Hathaway was funny, the Rock was good, Alan Arkin plays a good clumsy old man, and what can I say -- Masi Oka was in it. Masi Oka = Hiro Nakamura = win
