about reset history of the rpg - Alura - 08-04-2005 Yea, that's kinda the whole point of building particular stats. Like, Krillin said, all I see is someone who doesn't want to be weak so he wants everyone to drop all the things they've earned so he can have an easier time about reset history of the rpg - Alura - 08-04-2005 Yea, but you're bitching about us not having a reset. about reset history of the rpg - Sage - 08-04-2005 CJ, I realize you think you'll never catch up, but check this out: When I started, I was like, ~30th place on the ki list. Over 20 people could statistically wipe the floor with me, 'kay? Now, in less than a year, I went all the way from the bottom of the list to 10th place on the list, literally shooting through the ranks and somehow acheiving SSJ while I was at it. Continuing down the road, I climbed all the way up to 7th for a while, before continually dropping off while I trained my mentals. Right now I'm in 12th, which is still pretty lofty. What I'm saying is, if you're dedicated and you exhibit good roleplaying, you will become one of the power players in about a year. (Yes, this RP is more long-term than what you're probably used to) None of that is bragging, in any way. It's just I know myself better than I know anyone else, so using me as an example is pretty easy, no? Not to mention that a lot of players have worked AGES for things they've acheived. Raditzu's been here forever and an age, and only recently did he get SSJ2. He's used it once thus far. Fact is, you do stand a chance to beat someone as strong/stronger than me. Yes, your odds are slim, and yes, you probably won't win if you fight conventionally. You'd have to come up with a way around your ki limitations. Good example? Try finding the fight between Android 16 and Goku Jr/Minoshia. 16 was 20 times stronger than either of his opponents, and was still killed because of some very wise choices (and a bit of a lucky break) made by his opposition. about reset history of the rpg - Tamsin - 08-04-2005 Yeah. With lots of skill, some power and a bit of luck, you can beat anyone. about reset history of the rpg - Jonathan Meer - 08-04-2005 Quote:Originally posted by Cell Jr You weren't going to quit the debate, you were going to restart it in a different forum. about reset history of the rpg - Sage - 08-04-2005 The long-term is why this RPG survived. If some chump could sign up and be an SSJ3 in a month, we'd have another SSJ5's SUPER GOTENKS AN TRUNKS FUTUR RPG OF DesTRucTion. And it would die in less than half a year. You keep crashing back into this "unrealistic if weaker" crap. Listen, statistics are only half the battle. If you face off against someone stronger than you, you have to play to their weaknesses. Do they have a short temper? If so, piss them off until they're blinded by rage. Are they kind of dumb? Play tricks or use over-complicated strategy to confuse them. If they're slow, use a lot of zanzokens. See what I'm getting at? Yes, if you run up and punch Kami in the face, you'd be hard pressed to beat him just by fighting straight up. You'd have to use everything at your disposal, even cheap shots like jamming your thumbs into his eyes or whatever. It's just like the current Majin Buu vs Koola. If Buu decides to be stupid about it and just fight Koola head-on, he's dead. He's gonna have to play up his limitations, just like you'd have to play off the limitations of a stronger opponent. It's not that incredibly difficult. Although stats do - and should - matter, they're not the only determining factor. about reset history of the rpg - Sage - 08-04-2005 No; I'm not angry, but you should try to back up your points instead of re-stating them after they'd just been shot down. ![]() If I came across as demeaning then I'm sorry. Feel free to continue your discussion, I never meant to make you feel out of place. I won't turn this into a flame war. about reset history of the rpg - Kaden - 08-04-2005 I wanted to bring up a point that no one has yet to bring up (probably because none of the real old timers are in this discussion). If you want a serious point of reference, CJ, look at your starting stats. Go ahead. Now, you started with all of your physical stats at 240, and a base ki of just under one million. When I started, I had physical stats of 3. Yeah, that's right. The number between 2 and 4. Using the Guru Upgrade, spars, saga rewards, tournament prizes, dragonball wishes, and trips to the Room Of Spirit And Time, I've gotten my stats where they are today. Is it fair to me that I keep them? You bet Reijin's sweet ass it is. Is it fair to the new members? Hell no. Now, let's move on to the point of realism. Before continuing, I'd like to point out that everyone has the power to FLY AROUND AT WILL AND FIRE BEAMS OF ENERGY FROM THEIR HANDS. With said, lets move on. This is a Dragonball Z RPG. Now, if you've watched the show, you understand that, for example, Krillin is weaker than Goku. End of story. Full stop. Krillin will always be weaker than Goku, and that's just kind of given. People accept that and move on to enjoy the rest of the show. Would it make sense to have an episode of DBZ where suddenly Krilling was beating the shit out Kid Buu and Goku was getting his ass pounded by Icarus? No, not really. But wait, you say, this an RPG, not the show. And right you are. The staff are fully aware of the plight of the "weak" and have been very sensetive to it. We've gone out of our way to create quests, items, events, so and so forth, to give the weaker character something to do and a way to bolster their stats. We've even had several events where we threw stats out the window and said the only thing that matters is RolePlaying. We're not cold, heartless bastards who enjoy flaunting our made up power over the other people with less made up power. You also have to understand that most of the staff have heard this argument over and over. about reset history of the rpg - Kaden - 08-04-2005 Quote:Originally posted by Krillin Holy shit I pwned that thread. Go me. about reset history of the rpg - Hellfighter 17 - 08-04-2005 \skips d00d, after like ten months I became the fifth strongest. Case closed. *doesn't need big post* about reset history of the rpg - Alura - 08-04-2005 It's awesome how I'm stronger then HF17 even though he has RAGE =D about reset history of the rpg - Hellfighter 17 - 08-04-2005 Update my Bio Armour and we'll see about that. about reset history of the rpg - Kaden - 08-05-2005 I had been watching that thread for a while before I locked it. I was waiting for Reijin to put in his two cents before I punchinated that thread. about reset history of the rpg - Abel - 08-05-2005 Meh, I think we all know the conclusion of this thread but I want to post =( So anyway, I first joined a little over a year ago, look at the ki list, now. Yeah, top 20, and KK. As soon as I joined I wrote a personal storyline and went through it all, putting all my effort into it. And I was recognized for the effort I put into it, and was rewarded. I have done multiple quests now, participated in sagas, and am one of the strongest compared to others. But that's not all. For MANY weeks, I didn't train my physical stats because I trained mentals. I raised my Int to 200 and my Det to 500. Raising your Det is a smart move because you will get more TP to train with and if you are getting 25 TP weeklym you can be on top in a little under a year. about reset history of the rpg - Sage - 08-05-2005 Quote:Originally posted by Burter It's awesome how I'm faster than HF17 even after he uses RAGE. O.o about reset history of the rpg - Kaden - 08-05-2005 It's awesome how I'm really fast. =D about reset history of the rpg - Rem-13 - 08-05-2005 Its awesome how I ... um... I got nothing. about reset history of the rpg - Hellfighter 17 - 08-05-2005 Quote:Originally posted by BraIt's not awesome how my own team members are picking on me. ;_; about reset history of the rpg - Kaden - 08-05-2005 The reason was actually to give determination some purpose. For non-transformers, there's not a huge reason to train you determination, while those with transformations only need as much as their transformation requires. By giving a TP bonus based on determination, it gives the statistic further meaning and value. about reset history of the rpg - Kaden - 08-05-2005 Quote:Originally posted by Tien |
