The Like/Hate Thread - Super Buu - 08-04-2009 The stuff like what Jack describes is what I really hate. Gross sexual misconduct can be scarring, but horrific wounds and the like are infinitely worse. The Like/Hate Thread - Pinky - 08-04-2009 If you're visiting 4chan you deserve what you get. I have an inhuman tolerance for disgusting (thx, Internet) but even I don't dare those waters. The Like/Hate Thread - Jack - 08-05-2009 It's not that bad. 80% of it is porn. And porn is awesome. The Like/Hate Thread - Rem-13 - 08-05-2009 Are we talking /b/ or 4chon as a whole? Because /b/ is just whiny teenagers trying to one up eachother. The rest of it is porn divided into specialized hobbies. Also pedophilia. The Like/Hate Thread - Kazuya - 08-05-2009 http://www.11points.com/Books/11_Things_The_Bible_Bans,_But_You_Do_Anyway lol. The Like/Hate Thread - Pinky - 08-05-2009 i do not consider goatse or 2g1c to be porn, per se. The Like/Hate Thread - Saz - 08-05-2009 Kazuya Wrote:http://www.11points.com/Books/11_Things_The_Bible_Bans,_But_You_Do_Anyway "If two men, a man and his countryman, are struggling together, and the wife of one comes near to deliver her husband from the hand of the one who is striking him, and puts out her hand and seizes his genitals, then you shall cut off her hand; you shall not show pity." Cannot believe that's in the bible. The Like/Hate Thread - Orion - 08-05-2009 I like how 8/11 of those are based from the first five chapters of the Bible, and are therefore invalid today. The Like/Hate Thread - Psyren - 08-05-2009 I was about to say the same thing orion. The Like/Hate Thread - Super Buu - 08-05-2009 He mentions that at the bottom of the article. Out of curiosity, which are the ones still technically valid? The Like/Hate Thread - Sage - 08-05-2009 Technically speaking, if I still remember right, New Testament stuff was pretty much blanket-call legit while Old Testament became tenuous at best. The Like/Hate Thread - Kole T. Merr - 08-05-2009 I actually own Civ IV, but i ever really got around to playing too much of it. I did play a lot of Civ Rev for the 360. It was definitely more simplistic, but still fun. The Like/Hate Thread - Charles 4 - 08-05-2009 Awesome! I love researching this topic. I believe that all the commandments are in full force and effect. I am still trying to research this topic completely but I am trying to verify that that the Law of God is still in effect. (not thrown out or abolished.) Here are a few quotes from the bible that say that the law is not taken away. Also, note, I am using new testament qoutes to show that much if not all that is said in the old testament is repeated in the new testament. Also I try not to include just one verse because I hate when people quote things out of context from the bible. However, sometimes if there is a lot of descriptions which muddle the topic and generally would cause people to lose interest I try to shorten it. 1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. Romans 6 14-15 14For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. 15What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Matthew 5:15-19 16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. 17Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. These are just a few of the many quotes like this. I'll be the first to admit I am still really bad at following the law, but I like researching it. I especially like Matthew 5:19. It shows that even though there are a lot of laws (759 i believe) it is the intent and faith that will also help to bring you through. For instance, the not wearing mixed fabrics, that I would deem as a least commandment. (i believe it only appears once; others like adultery have many mentions) So someone who does and teaches just those least commandments will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Anyone interested in talking about this can pm or email me, or if you want to listen to an online radio show of a guy who practices and teaches all 759 commandments go to: http://www.georgegordon.org Also if you go to that site you will need to click the archives link to look through all the shows. Disclaimer: It is best to listen to him with an open mind. Some of the things he says may seem really outrageous, but when taken into context maybe you will find that the reality you believed you knew is not the reality at all. For instance, most people are comfortable with the idea that the law has been done away with and all that is need is an apology. However, it might be the case that the law IS in effect. That's a game changer in and of itself. Anywho, hope someone found this interesting. Lol The Like/Hate Thread - Orion - 08-05-2009 Rose Wrote:He mentions that at the bottom of the article. Out of curiosity, which are the ones still technically valid? He mentions it in the sense that 'oh, Christians say they don't work anymore, but what about the gay one? Double standards har har har" which just shows that he's more out to provoke a response than anything. Just about anything from Leviticus (where he draws most of his material from) counts as much to a 21st Century Christian as the witch laws of the 17th Century from Iceland. They were laws written for a specific people at a specific time for a specific purpose. Much of Leviticus is focused upon cleanliness and avoiding certain foods that posed a risk at the time. Others, like no. 4, are misinterpreted. God didn't punish Onan because he 'spilt his seed', he was punished because he was supposed to impregnate his brother's wife when he blatantly disobeyed. That's where the Catholic belief of non-contraception seems to be cited from. Not too sure about no. 9, since that's the first time I've seen it presented in that context. No. 7 is fine, but he doesn't mention that there is one exception to allow divorce; sexual immorality. Otherwise, it is vehemently discouraged. No. 3, however, carries some weight but not just because of that verse. All throughout the Bible it is mentioned not to consort with any other spiritual beings or mediums. Did I miss anything? The Like/Hate Thread - Ashe - 08-05-2009 Working is worse than masturbating with a hand full of shattered glass over an open flame. The Like/Hate Thread - Charles 4 - 08-05-2009 Quote:Just about anything from Leviticus (where he draws most of his material from) counts as much to a 21st Century Christian as the witch laws of the 17th Century from Iceland. Hmmm, you seem to have some of the answers Orion, but I think you might be judging the law dismissively. The food and cleanliness laws for example. If those were practiced today I think people would be healthier, and that those same risky foods and practies are still hamstringing us. Many of the "unclean" foods are high risk foods when you look at health. Pork , shellfish, fat in general, blood ect. Some of these laws the U.S. as a nation still practices; such as bleeding animals before processing them into food. Also, most of the cleanliness laws are probably practiced just on principle. Like not rolling around in shit, quarantine, and not touching dead things. lol I would also think that if part of the law is in effect then the whole law would be in effect. I would think that if some of the laws are in effect, because, sin still exists. According to the Bible's definition; if there is no law there is no sin, since, sin is the transgression of the law. Anywho, I hope you don't mind discussion on this topic. I am not much one for preaching and stuff. I just like this topic.
