I dunno the fact that Roshi could crush the moon into dust within seconds during DB seems to indicate that the DBZ characters have a ridiculous amount of strength, considering Goku was literally hundreds of thousands of times stronger than that later on in the series.

Destruction in Dragonball is dictated by the need of the plot. Sure, Roshi could destroy the moon early on, but Piccolo's first full-powered devil beam merely destroyed the top of a mountain. It can be inconsistent because it's a silly manga. The writers of Superman take consistency a bit more seriously.

You can't seriously believe that, Silver Age Superman's powers were nothing but plot he was as strong or weak as the plot required.
Also for the purpose of time travel, it's a moot point. In Goku's world, traveling faster than light =! time travel. And if Goku went and fought in Superman's world Time Travel wouldn't be that much of an advantage because Goku didn't exist there before the beginning of the fight.
