Favorite Video Games - Jack - 02-23-2009 That depth to that game is disturbing, to say the least. Favorite Video Games - Kami - 02-23-2009 I got all the achievements and am the "Shit King" It is disturbing Favorite Video Games - Super Buu - 02-23-2009 If I'm the only person here to have played Alundra, I'll be sad. It's like Zelda but with harder puzzles, harder enemies, and a deeper plot. Incredible music, too. It's one of the most under-appreciated gems of all time. Favorite Video Games - Kami - 02-23-2009 I rented Alundra once. I remember liking it, but I don't think I got very far. Favorite Video Games - Pinky - 02-23-2009 Maybe Alundra was more difficult than the SNES Zelda, but if you think it's superior in any way to Wind Waker then you sir are a heretic and I shall be informing the ministry of the inquisition at once. Favorite Video Games - Sage - 02-24-2009 Wind Waker sucks. Epilepsy is better than Wind Waker. =/ Favorite Video Games - Jesper - 02-24-2009 Speaking of hating games that people generally love, I hate Chrono Trigger. Favorite Video Games - Sage - 02-24-2009 ;_; Not cool. Favorite Video Games - Jack - 02-24-2009 Sophia Wrote:Speaking of hating games that people generally love, I hate Chrono Trigger. That's going too far. YOU SIR, HAVE JUST GONE TOO FAR! Why didn't you like it? What age were you when you played it? Favorite Video Games - Sage - 02-24-2009 XD He's entitled to his opinion, Jack. Favorite Video Games - Jack - 02-24-2009 Oh, sorry. That last line was a serious question, I wasn't trying to be all "you suck!!!!". I was seriously asking, because I pretty much had no problems with Chrono Trigger. EDIT: Figured maybe he played it relatively recently and it wasn't the same as for the people who played it at a young age. Favorite Video Games - Jesper - 02-24-2009 I played it when I was 12. I played it again last month to give it another chance. I got bored both times. Favorite Video Games - Super Buu - 02-24-2009 I was one of the people who loved Wind Waker. I spent hours sailing the sea. But I was rooting for Ganondorf at the ending, since I love OOT and Hyrule so much. Favorite Video Games - Belle Hibiki - 02-24-2009 I vaguely remembering liking Alundra. I owned it. I don't think I ever beat it. It seemed weird to me at a young age. Now, I'd probably just call it "dark." Favorite Video Games - Super Buu - 02-25-2009 I rented Alundra as a kid. A lot. Then I remembered how much I loved it as a kid, found it on ebay and I realised what a legendary game it was. On the topic of "hating games most people like", I have a big bone to pick with the MGS series. I don't really hate the game, but I'm sick to death of people telling me how deep it is. You meant 'ambiguous and convoluted'. Not the same thing. Japanese writers also seem to love blatant allegory and 'symbolism'. Like naming your main villain 'Sin' and having things named the A.N.G.E.L. SYSTEM. MGS somehow manages to master both, and convince people it's smart. I have no problem with people liking it, but stop telling me the story is deep and subtle. Read any book. Shit, if you liked that you're gonna love Harry Potter. It's like people telling me Alien 3 was deep because of the bible references -- no, seriously, that happened. Things do not magically become smarter because you crowbar in lots of blatant references to other things. But the world, and Hideo Kojima, has apparently yet to realise this. Stick to scat jokes and strangling soldiers. Favorite Video Games - Sage - 02-25-2009 I'd say the plot is clever. But I'm with you. Despite being a huge MGS fan, it is not at all deep. Deeper than your typical video game, sure, but it's not like you're competing against much, usually. Hell it gets a lot of fundamental plot points wrong. XD Favorite Video Games - Jonathan Meer - 02-25-2009 Greg, His Dark Materials is a shallow trilogy that is little more than a rehashing of Biblical themes with a large amount of modern skepticism (of which we have had no lack in the last four centuries) thrown in for good measure. It's inclusion of the spiritual in its answer to the theory of everything is hardly ground-breaking. It's thematic development is sketchy at best (what the fuck is going on with Mrs. Coulter and Lord Asriel?). The entire trilogy is grossly overrated. Now, your counter-argument would be (rightly so) the claim that HDM is thoroughly deep, likely followed with some of the thick strands that Pullman has crafted, and their philosophical implications. The very best that one could do, however, is contradict and provide examples (which anyone, if they wanted to, could simply write off as someone reading too far deep into it). And that's the best I can do with MGS4 as well. That said, even I'll admit HDM > MGS4. ANYWAY. 1 ) Metal Gear Solid 4 2 ) Final Fantasy X 3 ) Super Mario World 4 ) Illusion of Gaia 5 ) Resident Evil 4 6 ) Oblivion 7 ) Super Mario Sunshine 8 ) Golden Sun 9 ) Super Smash Bros. Melee 10) Metroid Prime Favorite Video Games - Kami - 02-26-2009 Help me out here. I remember playing a game on PSX where you took control of some sort of robotic, or mechanical spider. You crawled around on all sorts of stuff, and I want to say there was some sort of evil scientist involved in the plot but it's a blurry memory. There is a Wii game coming out that made me think of it, but for the life of me I can't remember the name. What was it? Favorite Video Games - Kami - 02-26-2009 Nevermind, I found it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spider:_The_Video_Game Favorite Video Games - Jonathan Meer - 02-26-2009 Haha, that makes sense. |
