These are pretty cool animoose, I suppose - Anzekay - 12-02-2011 Trygelan Wrote:So, Mirai Nikki is amazing. Yuno is the stuff of nightmares though. This show makes me want to read the manga just to know what's going to happen. I've been saying since episode 1 that this show is both awesome and the stuff of nightmares. Those exact words! I ended up caving after episode 4 and read the entire manga in one sitting. It's... Quite something, I'll tell you that. Almost all of that something is fantastic. There's a lot of stuff this season that is super good, it's by far the best season I've seen for ages. If you didn't catch last season there is a half dozen or so show you really should check out as well. These are pretty cool animoose, I suppose - Anzekay - 12-02-2011 Alright, Tryg, I ended up with this list for this season. This is stuff that made it past the 3 episode trial. Guilty Crown Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon Last Exile, Fam The Silver Wing, Persona 4 the animation UN-GO Ben-To Mirai Nikki Chihayafuru Boku Ha Tomodachi Ga Sukunai Tamayura hitotose Shana 3 C3 Fate/Zero Some are going better than others, some are inconsistant (C3, Guilty Crown, Last Exile), some I have no fucking idea what is going on (Horizon) but are still good. I'm not sure what your tastes are like so some of that list may not be for you. As for last season, you absolutely have to check out: Mawaru Penguindrum (this show is ongoing and absolutely incredible) Usagi Drop Kamisama Dolls Other than that I watched Ikoku Meiro no Croisee Dantalian no Shoka No.6 (this show was pretty damn good until the last two episodes, which bombed and pissed me off so bad). The Idolmaster (ongoing, I'm way behind at like episode 8, it was okay so far but I've heard very good things about it later on) Kamisama no Memochou and the guilty enjoyment of Yuru Yuri which is like 1/3 awkward, 1/3 clever, 1/3 hilarious. These are pretty cool animoose, I suppose - John Doe - 12-02-2011 I really identify with the main character in The World God Only Knows. These are pretty cool animoose, I suppose - Medraut - 12-02-2011 Best Anime of All Time... Eureka seveN You can thank me later. These are pretty cool animoose, I suppose - John Doe - 01-09-2012 Nisemonogatari. I have the courage to watch this anime. These are pretty cool animoose, I suppose - Anzekay - 01-09-2012 I haven't seen the first season yet so I'm going to shelve that for now. I gotta say though, from first impressions of some shows this season I've been pretty surprised. I'd written off Winter 2012 for a pretty dry season, but a few shows have popped up that actually aren't too bad at all. These are pretty cool animoose, I suppose - Pinky - 01-09-2012 thor + loki: blood brothers. part 3D model animations, part 2D model animations, part hand drawn/distortions (like the animated dead space comics). norse mythology is always fun, and only a few episodes so its not a huge investment. i'm personally pleased with how it shows that animation is still a growing field, and i'm hoping to transition into it in the future These are pretty cool animoose, I suppose - Trygelan - 01-09-2012 There's not a whole lot of stuff in the winter season that I'm too excited about, at least not stuff that I can't put off to watch till later, so right now I'm starting to work my way through my massive backlog of anime that I've been meaning to watch. (Talking 2+ years of stuff to go through since I had trouble sitting down and watching much, or just really didn't get the interest to watch it during that time.) And yes Anzekay, that includes all the stuff we've talked about as well. ![]() EDIT: Instead of making a 2nd post for this... Speaking of stuff that I'm watching/recently watched, I just finally (yes finally) got around to watching Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Toradora! these last couple of days. Good stuff, though I'm glad I have a large backlog of stuff to watch or I'd be bothered by the "end of series depression" that I get after anything really good. I really shouldn't have put watching these two off for as long as I have, but well worth watching. These are pretty cool animoose, I suppose - Anzekay - 01-09-2012 ohgod Madoka. Speaking of the winter season though, I was genuinely surprised by Lagrange (the mecha one) and Symphogear. The former actually looks like it could turn out pretty compelling, and the characters are so far interesting enough (and the MC is not your typical "I don't want to pilot this mecha ohgod why do I have to?" sort of MC which is fabulous). Symphogear is, well, not what I expected AT ALL. To explain why is spoilers ![]() Kill me baby was actually kinda disapointing, since I did really enjoy the manga. But then again considering what sort of manga it is I shouldn't have been surprised that it hasn't translated over to anime too well. I was always going to watch Zero no Tsukaima Final just so that I can finish off the series. Not sure how it'll turn out. Probably just an "okay" like 90% of the first three seasons. Watching the Space Pirates one now. Doesn't seem too bad so far. There's a few others I'm going to check out that haven't had their first episode aired yet, so we'll see how they go. Overall though I am pretty surprised. I was expecting to watch 2 or 3 shows only this season, and that figure has likely doubled already. These are pretty cool animoose, I suppose - Vad - 01-09-2012 I hate that end of series depression D: These are pretty cool animoose, I suppose - John Doe - 01-09-2012 So I looked up "top anime of 2011" and I got a lot of results for Steins;Gate that tended to rank above Madoka, so I'm watching it now. Good thing I don't have anything to do, because this shit is blowing my fucking mind. These are pretty cool animoose, I suppose - Pinky - 01-10-2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ozetxduk4vs&feature=youtube_gdata_player kingdom come audiobook on youtube with comic images. a great comic series by alex ross to begin with. Good thing I don't have anything to do, because this shit is blowing my fucking mind. Steins;Gate really did win the popularity vote, but I think it terms of production and writing, Madoka trumps everything last year by a massive margin. Also, Pinky, this is about anime not western comics!
These are pretty cool animoose, I suppose - John Doe - 01-10-2012 I just finished watching it in a marathon run and I'm inclined to say Steins;Gate > Madoka. These are pretty cool animoose, I suppose - Anzekay - 01-10-2012 longer series syndrome These are pretty cool animoose, I suppose - John Doe - 01-10-2012 :O These are pretty cool animoose, I suppose - Anzekay - 01-10-2012 The joke is that people get more attached to longer series. Steins;Gate was 24, Madoka only 11. I certainly understand why Steins;Gate is so popular (and it is also very good, of course!) but Madoka still has to win out over everything for me because it was just so damn well written and produced. It's not everday you see such a flawless, emotional, deconstruction of the most unlikely genre. These are pretty cool animoose, I suppose - John Doe - 01-10-2012 I thought the joke was that you were pulling a Meer, so I responded as a Meer should. My bad for not getting the joke. :\ These are pretty cool animoose, I suppose - Anzekay - 01-10-2012 I don't know what to say to that These are pretty cool animoose, I suppose - Medraut - 01-10-2012 Hunter x Hunter is out with a remake that's actually following the manga so it's a good anime to get into and the writing is amazing imo if you're a fan of anime from Japanese writers. and Eureka seveN, anime is only 50 episodes but again I never see people talking about it but it's always in the highest ratings and wish other people liked it besides me. xD They're coming out with another series from Bones Studio, I also bought the movie but never watched out yet. xD |
