Iron Man - Metal Teemer - 05-06-2008

So I Youtube'd the after credits part. So sweet. But they took like all of them down, because Marvel made them.

Iron Man - Bojack - 05-06-2008

Burter Wrote:Yea, he was actually based on Samuel Jackson, with permission. Which is why probably why Marvel Studios fought so hard to get him. I read somewhere he isn't a big comic book fan, but his daughter apparantly was as a kid.

He was a huge comic book fan as a child he said. His favorite was Silver Surfer if I remember correctly.

And Samuel Jackson is such a nerd. Between Afro Samurai and hosting the video game awards, he's not fooling me.

Iron Man - Burter - 05-06-2008

The only thing he admitted to in the interview I read was he was a huge Star Wars nerd, which is why he practically begged Lucas for a role

Iron Man - Bojack - 05-06-2008

Forgot he was in Star Wars. That guy does it all.

Iron Man - Burter - 05-06-2008

Quote:Sheila Roberts sat down with Samuel Jackson to talk to him about Resurrecting the champ and during that sit down she got a chance to talk to him about the new Iron Man film spin off The Shield. Here is what Sam had to say.

I’m curious if your Shield movie is 2009 or 2010?

Samuel Jackson: I have no idea. I have no idea if I’m even going to do one. I have no idea if I’m in Iron Man or not. People keep talking about it.

It’s possible that you and maybe Hilary Swank have one day parts.

I’ve heard that. I’ve heard that, yeah.

If you were hypothetically in the movie, which of course you weren’t, but if you were, what drew you to wanting to play—hypothetically—possibly playing a character like that?

Well, because I knew who Nick Fury was when I was a kid and it’s really amazing to me that he actually…he was this white guy who used to be in the Army with this group called the Howling Commandos and as I grew up, he actually grew up to be me in the comic book now. When I look at the comic book I go wow, Nick Fury looks a lot like me now. So I figure it’s got to be interesting to play a guy who used to be white who’s now black and like me.

Did you hear about how well the footage was received at Comic Con?

No, I did not.

They didn’t show hypothetically if you were in the movie but the footage that played was the talk of the entire convention.

Awesome.

It was the A+, homerun, Barry Bonds destroying it. It was amazing.

That’s great. That’s good to hear. Maybe I will let them do me in there.

Iron Man - Warako - 05-07-2008

I just want to know one thing before I go to watch it, do they ever talk about Stark's parents and the brake company and all that jazz?

Iron Man - Zangya - 05-07-2008

Android-18 Wrote:My bf explained to me that they changed the character that Samuel L Jackson will be playing from white to black, and that they pretty much designed him around Samuel L Jackson, so it made sense to cast him as that role.
Nick Fury has been through many appearances, including a balding black man.

Iron Man - Bojack - 05-07-2008

Warako Wrote:I just want to know one thing before I go to watch it, do they ever talk about Stark's parents and the brake company and all that jazz?

I wanna know that to. Do they even HINT at his alcoholism?

I've grown tired of the action blockbusters, I want character and story.

Iron Man - Raditzu - 05-07-2008

They touch upon his parents, but it's in passing.

The actual plot of the movie is entertaining, but fairly predictable ("fairly" gets upgraded to "extremely" if you've ever read a comic book or watched an anime). What really wins is Downy Jr.'s portrayal of Stark. He does such a good job of playing that character, and making him seem real. So if you want an awesome performance of an equally awesome comic book hero (alcoholic playboy genius millionaire ftw) with a bunch of explosions and shiny graphics -- which you all should -- go see Iron Man.

Iron Man - Warako - 05-07-2008

I'll be seeing it, was just curious.

I really do hope they develop the bit about his parents and his alcoholism in iron man 2, though I doubt it since that won't sell as well.

Iron Man - Reijin - 05-07-2008

I don't see why people are ignoring the fact that nearly every scene of him in the movie where he was near alcohol had him actually drinking alcohol. To me, they showed his alcoholism fairly well, given that he came up with an excuse to drink for like half the movie, including randomly breaking out a bar on a plane when he insisted people drink sake with him (Cool points with me right there, btw)

My post didn't get through the other night, I kinda said the same thing lol. I was enjoying the airplane/bar scene with the stewardesses dancing around...*sighs* wish I was an alcoholic millionaire superhero with a plane that had a cool bar on it Sad

Iron Man - Raditzu - 05-07-2008

I think that was closer to a "strip club" than a "bar."

Iron Man - Kami - 05-07-2008

I want that plane.

It made $100 mill opening weekend.

Iron Man - Bojack - 05-07-2008

zomg anuther BLOCKZ BUSTur@!!!!!!

Seriously, I will blow whoever decides to make another superhero movie in the fashion of Unbreakable.

Iron Man - Raditzu - 05-07-2008

Last time they tried to make a superhero movie that wasn't an "action summer blockbuster" we got The Incredible Hulk.

It doesn't go both ways.

Iron Man - Bojack - 05-08-2008

Needless to say the script would have to be, you know, good. And the star would have to be, you know, not Eric Bana.

And bringing up The Hulk is a low blow. =(

Speaking of The Incredible Hulk, is it true Tony Stark will make an appearance in it?

Iron Man - Saz - 05-08-2008

Why is everyone hating on The Incredible Hulk?

Have none of you guys watched Ghost Rider? Now THAT is the worst superhero movie. Period.

Iron Man - Bojack - 05-08-2008

Actually, The Punisher wins that category.

Wow, in retrospect, the hit to miss ratio of superhero movies has been ghastly.

EDIT: And I'm not hating on the Hulk scenes of The Hulk. The non Hulk scenes sucked hard though. Even still:

That has to be one of my favorite scenes of any movie ever.
