Rate the Film You Just Saw (+ chat) - Jonathan Meer - 02-20-2012 Yes, 13 angry men is a fantastic film. Rate the Film You Just Saw (+ chat) - Belle Hibiki - 02-20-2012 And by 13, I mean 12. derp. Rate the Film You Just Saw (+ chat) - Jonathan Meer - 02-20-2012 X angry men is a great film. Rate the Film You Just Saw (+ chat) - Vad - 02-21-2012 YOU'RE TEARING ME APART LISA! Rate the Film You Just Saw (+ chat) - Android 17 - 02-21-2012 This probably makes me derpy, but I finally got around to sitting down and watching 'Full Metal Jacket' over the weekend (Apocalypse Now is still in the pile). 9/10. While it's no Private Ryan, the opening act of the movie was fantastic. R. Lee Ermey carried that movie, and after he left, I felt it sort of puttered. I cared less about Joker and his pseudo-friends while they were in 'Nam. I also felt like they tried too hard to pull off a moral in the last 20 minutes of the film (although the scene with 'the Stare' was rather poignant). Rate the Film You Just Saw (+ chat) - King B - 02-21-2012 Oh my god. It's Android 17, complete with the eye avatar and errthing. MIND=BLOWN! Edit: Full Metal Jacket was a GREAT movie. Stanley Kubrick's best for sure. The boot camp scenes were pretty entertaining because of the Drill Sargent, but I honestly felt that the war scenes and shit at the end was actually really well done as well. Rate the Film You Just Saw (+ chat) - Android 17 - 02-21-2012 No denying that it was great. I guess I just had grittier anticipations/expectations (a la Platoon). My problem with most Kubrick films is that I feel like sometimes they just putter on. Like, I hate 2001, I thought the scene with all the lights and whatnot was pandering to stoned hippies rather than anything mind-blowing or otherwise enlightening. The Shining, however, I found splendid. I think it's because the pace worked so well with the whole 'guy going f**king cabin fever crazeeee." Once I finish my work load for this week, I'mma watch me some Apocalypse Now and Deer Hunter. Maybe Platoon because Jarka hasn't seen that either. |
