'Ey, Chrome Dome - Bra - 02-13-2006 Quote:Originally posted by Super Buu Yeah, I know. GTA 2 is generally "non-canon" in the sense that it has nothing to do with any of the other games as far as story progression goes. Therefore, GTA III isn't really a prequel to GTA 2. But I see your point. Regardless, Rockstar agrees with me. So I'm right by default, I guess. XD 'Ey, Chrome Dome - Super Buu - 02-13-2006 There's story progression between the GTA games? I always thought they were all standalone titles. Then again, I've only played VC and SA in-depth. The others I've just played a little, and GTA 3 not at all. 'Ey, Chrome Dome - Bra - 02-13-2006 Yeah. A bunch of the characters all tie in from game to game on the PS2 titles. There isn't a huge amount of "carry-over" from title to title, but, for example, one character loses his arm in VC and winds up in III with only one arm. The main villain of III shows up in SA, etc. 'Ey, Chrome Dome - Krillin - 02-13-2006 Quote:Originally posted by Jeice Seemed like seizures to me. Quote:Originally posted by Jeice =( I loved her. Why did they have to kill her? Quote:I'm a fan of Zack, as people who have talked to me on AIM can tell. He, in his short dialogue in the game and Advent Children apperances, had much more character and heart then Cloud showed in both his starring roles. Zack was cool, but he wasn't really present enough to get a good taste of his character. But then, I don't think I ever saw the optional cutscene, so meh. Quote:To me, FFX felt too much like massive backgrounds I never got to explore. FF7, being pre-rendered, rarely gave that feeling. There's also the fact FF7 was darkier, grittier and less....enchanted forest and magical castles then FFX. Which I kind of got sick of in FF9, so my feelings going into FFX were less then impressed when faced with more temples, castles and dragons. Alright. That's a difference in opinion there. I'm more of an enchanted forest, magical castle kinda guy. Realistic, technological, apocolyptic fantasy is incredibly sexy, but the religious overtones of FFX combined with the luster of Spira was too much to pass up. That, and Blitzball is the sex. Quote:Not to mention the fact that I greatly enjoyed the entire storyline itself. Not so much Cloud, but more the side storylines. Red's father, Yes. Quote:Vincent being the possible father for Sephiroth (highly unlikely, but gave to some mild wild speculation), It was Hojo and Lucrecia's child. I can't remember where in the game, but it's pretty definitive. Quote:Yuffie's town's downfall. I hated that place. Quote:Nothing much to say about Tifa and her puppy love. Just 'cuz you're a big boob guy. Quote:But really, in FFX, the only characters I really got attached to were Rikku and Wakka. And that's just because they were comic relief when people like Auron, Lulu and Yuna got too emo about the state of their world. For character attachment, Aeris takes the cake. Auron and Wakka come shortly after. I hated Yuna. Rikku was awesome too. And we can't forget Kimahri. Quote:I've got friends that have never played FF before, and introduced them to FFVII using my GH copy. They loved the game and characters, despite the lack of immaculate eyecandy. Saying that the game should die out is like saying a classic car should be put in the junk yard instead of restored or preserved for future generations. I never said it should die out. I pull out my Atari regularly and play for nostalgia's sake. Final Fantasy VII will remain playable forever, but it will have to bow out when bigger, better-looking games come out. It's just fact. The gaming world is not uniform. Quote:Sure, it may not run as smooth, and have all the new nifty features of the newer models, but it's still one powerful piece of equipment. It's still got class, great features, enjoyable plot points and story telling, as well as some of the most memorable characters to date. I mean, where did the "Big sword weilding hero" get it's footnote in history? Cloud, of course. That's not something to brag about. Quote:And ontop of that, it's still noted as one of the best RPGs to date. As seen in my copy of Gamepro. I think that speaks for itself, but there will always be naysayers and nit pickers that love future copies even more then the old skool. There's no skool like old skool, dude. I've never cared what other people say about video games. Illusion of Gaia remains one of my favorite SNES games of all time, but I never ever hear of people touting it around. Quote:Aside from possibly FFXII, which looks to blow the classic turned based action of all previous offline FF games out of the water. Omg, I can't wait. Realistic, medieval fantasy. There's few games I'd pay fifty bucks for, and that will be one of them. Quote:Oh, that part. Yeah, I got that part, but I didn't think you were that kind of gamer to state something so blatently arrogant, as you put it. Personally, I just didn't get into it as much as others did. I've been persecuted and verbally chastised for years becasue of it, but I'm not about to take your opinions personally after lasting this long. =P Rest assured, then, that I won't persecute you. I might chastise you, but I mean it in jest. Quote:Although I do admit, Shadow was pretty badass, Edge > Shadow. Kain > All others. Who's Edge? Kain? Older Final Fantasys, I guess? I haven't played anything before six. Quote:Originally posted by Bra *nods* The Teletubbies had more personality than he did. 'Ey, Chrome Dome - Hellfighter 17 - 02-13-2006 Quote:Originally posted by BraYea, I noticed that a lot with VC to SA. 'Ey, Chrome Dome - Super Buu - 02-13-2006 Quote:Originally posted by Krillin Oh god I'm not alone I was dumbstruck when they killed Aeris.
'Ey, Chrome Dome - Bra - 02-13-2006 How could you possibly get attached to Aeris? Seriously, I never figured that out. She was, like, the crappiest fighter ever, and she dies way early in the game. How do you even have time to get attached to her? I actually found her really annoying. =( 'Ey, Chrome Dome - Super Buu - 02-13-2006 When FF7 came out I was like, 8 or something like that. So yeah, I pretty much just went for the chick that was healing me. |
