Dragonball Complaints - Super Buu - 10-25-2006

Artificial 17 was the one made by Myuu and Gero in Hell, and he was all android. That could explain why Super 17 was more metallic, or you could just say GT is non-canon. I'm pretty sure that it was explained that 17 and 18 specifically were normal humans made into androids/cyborgs. And I agreed with you on the others, that's why I said they were all 'real' androids (ie robots). >_>

Dragonball Complaints - Super Buu - 10-25-2006

According to 17/18's Wikipedia, it mentions it in the manga:
Quote:He is referred to in the original Japanese as an artificial human (Jinzoningen), which is translated as 'cyborg'/'android'/'robot'; he is not a robot nor an android, and it is implied in the manga he and his sister were originally runaway humans heavily fitted with cybernetics. As such, he is, in English, correctly a cyborg. Trunks also confirms this by using the word cyborg in the original version of the anime when describing to Goku about what the pair are that will ruin the future.

Also:

Quote:When Cell is defeated, Kuririn wishes for 18 to be turned into a full human. The Dragon is not able to do this, however, because she is not entirely mechanical, so Kuririn then wishes the bomb that is embedded within both 17 and 18 (which has near cataclysmic destructive power) to be removed as a compromise. Kuririn pursues 18 and him and 18 eventually have a child together, a daughter named Marron, a fact which confuses some fans, espousing the misconception she is an android.

I think the thing about 'it is implied in the manga he and his sister were originally runaway humans heavily fitted with cybernetics' clinches it, though I haven't read the manga myself that's always what I've heard. So it's not just about the translation. Wink

Gero's being weaker might have simply been to do with resources. I'm sure generators that provide unlimited power don't come cheap/easy. Tongue Like you said, he might have thought he didn't need more power. We'll probably never know, because Toriyama never explained it.

For a genius, he was pretty bad at math.

Not true. When Goku powered up, he had the heart virus. He probally calulated his current powerlevel, which was mosty certainly weaker than he was, but allowed his creation to [try to] destroy Goku. He probally wanted to see an android kill Goku, as it was his dream to fullfill. Too bad. Had he attacked him instead, he may have killed Goku and had plenty of energy to kill Vegeta and the rest of the gang. But, if that were to happen, then there would be no more DBZ.

Also when exactly did that happen? I don't seem to recall it.

After Cell dies by Gohan and they're on the Kami lookout with the dragonballs and they make their wishes where Krillin wishes for the bombs to be removed from the Androids and that 17 and 18 can live happily together as a couple but 18 pops out from hiding and says that they're siblings and runs off.

It's in this episode here.

My complaints:

1.) Gokua didn't have a role outside the movie.
2.) Janemba didn't have a role outside the movie.
3.) Tapion didn't have a role outside the movie.
4.) Tien was left behind, PL wise.
5.) Trunks didn't kill Perfect Cell.
6.) Gohan became a bitch after beating Cell.
7.) Goku was a naive idiot.
8.) Vegeta got too emotional at times.
9.) Yamcha stayed in the series as long as he did.
10.) They made Trunks seem like a homosexual.
11.) Future Gohan didn't get more of a role.
12.) GT. Yes, in its entirity.

If Trunks killed Perfect Cell I would have smashed my head into the television and then cry, not because of the immense pain of the shards imbedded in my brain, but because it would make all the built up foreshadowing to Gohan's potential implode all at once, thus causing my brain cells to shoot themselves in the face at the same time.

XD.

The exponentially increasing powerlevels. That was a recipe for disaster.

IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAAAAANDDD!

If Dragonball was done the way we wanted we would end up complaining about something else about it then. Nothing can be perfect.

Absolutely one hundred and fifty five percent correct!

EDIT: Btw the nine thousand thing made me lose brain cells....O_o

DBZ should have ended after either Frieza was killed, or Vegeta sacrificed himself to kill Buu. Namely because after the death of Frieza, Super Saiyans started popping up every which way, and lesser character disappeared completely. If the show had ended after Vegeta died, then that would have been for the best, because that was the last bit of any useful character development that occurred in the show. It should not have gone any further. GT, the instant I watched part of it, made me regret ever having like DBZ, because it ruined it so horribly.

You guys are so ridiculously dramatic. While I agree that the lesser characters became totally useless farther into DBZ, that doesn't mean entire seasons were nothing but crap. Honestly, you guys are totally making me over use the word purist today.

In my opinion, they were. DBZ was a good show, and innovational up until the end of the Frieza Saga. At that point, what made DBZ entertaining to me as a little kid vanished. Sure, watching people with spiky gold hair shoot light that explodes like a nuclear bomb was interesting at first, but even as a little kid, when I can predict what's going to happen in a show, that's no good. I got bored with it, and didn't watch but a few episodes of the Cell Saga, and a couple in the Buu Saga.

It's the same principle that I apply to any of these show or movie-based video games. "If the game were based on something else, would I still buy it?" If I can't say yes, then it's not worth it, and you're just buying it because of the fact it's that show or movie. In the case of the DBZ show, watching those later episodes to me, was kinda like that. If it was a completely different show, and I saw those episodes, would I continue to watch it? Nope. So, I stopped.

Purist? Depends on your definition. I like things that are good. I won't say that past the Frieza Saga was "crap," but DBZ was at its high point at the end of the Frieza Saga. Past that point, it slowly declined.

Dragonball Complaints - Ruhiel - 10-26-2006

No, forget it. I'm not about to attempt to defend my own damn opinion over the internet about something that doesn't matter.

Point being, my opinion: Cell and Buu Sagas were unnecessary. The show was supposed to end with the Frieza Saga. The other two sagas weren't horrible, but they were nowhere near as good as the first two.
