Role-play Suggestion - Druss - 09-23-2008 That actually sounds like a good idea, that would be fun i think. Role-play Suggestion - Bojack - 09-23-2008 I think the sagas are (becoming?) too linear. If I'm not mistaken, sagas are written with a clear way of how it should end, some exceptions accounted for at the end of the saga, of course. I'd love to see a saga where characters are just given a setting and a circumstance from the get go, and the story develops on it's own. We should be thinking Spore, not Warcraft 3. Alternamorphs, not Goosebumps. Christ, those were so awesome. Etc. Role-play Suggestion - Druss - 09-23-2008 Warcraft 3 was a good game, i still play that online every now and again... Anyways back on topic :gtongue:. I like your idea on characters given a setting and circumstance but even then i think it would become PC v PC all over again. Role-play Suggestion - Super Buu - 09-23-2008 Raditzu Wrote:Not a bad idea, but I'm worried about 1) figuring out how to do that with the CP and 2) staff actually doing it.I'm worried about 1, but not 2. I mean, if staff can take the time to update training, reading a new post and then clicking 'okay' to approve it shouldn't be too much hassle. Either way it's a good idea and I'm not too bothered about the specifics. I'm pretty sure there's a way to do it though, ask Waff or Violet. Role-play Suggestion - Orion - 09-23-2008 Bojack Wrote:I'd love to see a saga where characters are just given a setting and a circumstance from the get go, and the story develops on it's own. I would too, but I guarantee people will start complaining, "oh, this is a shit situation. What am I supposed to write here? I've got no ideas; tell me what to do!" I can recall similar statements when I ran Prophecy's Child. Zangya Wrote:But story where players can make choices. Calculating Catastrophe was great, but what if Raditzu had suddenly decided to side with the Construct? If his roleplaying remainded stellar, would the Construct win? Or would this end up being another 'good guys win all' story? I was actually going to do that with PCIII. There was a good chance that the bad guy was going to win; too bad the saga never really happened. Role-play Suggestion - Bujin - 09-23-2008 I personally have no problem with linear sagas. It's pretty annoying when you have a set idea for a saga you're running, and someone does something that makes you go "That's not really what I intended for this to be at all!" That said, it's fine to leave the ending open - after all, it's no fun when you know which side will win, but if you leave it too open-ended or too like a "sandbox" design, the story will go off into too many tangents and get a tad ridiculous. That's what I think, anyway. Role-play Suggestion - Zangya - 09-23-2008 What I mean is a "Heroes" type thing. Many people, many stories, but they all eventually intertwine into the bigger story. Role-play Suggestion - Bojack - 09-23-2008 That's what I'm thinking. If Group A fails to blow up Crossbones base, and they end up launching that nuke warhead, then it becomes an obstacle for Group B to overcome. Or something. That's just on a trivial level, but I just wanted to give an example. And when I say groups, I mean that something like 20 on 1 doesnt sound practical. Parties of like 3-5 characters faced with respective problems and developing their own storyline sounds cool. Role-play Suggestion - Orion - 09-23-2008 Bojack Wrote:That's what I'm thinking. Bojack gets lots of cool points for the underlined part. Basically, I agree with above. One of my biggest deterrents while in CC (apart from sheer bone laziness) was the fact that most of the groups were decided and were interacting, and I couldn't see an in anywhere for me. Role-play Suggestion - Kirano - 09-23-2008 When you're active, there's always an IN. When I was automatically grouped with Burter, Rad, 18 and Bra I thought the same exact thing. 18 had Rad, Burter had Bra. I felt like the outcast, but I managed to worm my way in and managed to form a solid relationship with Bra. The question should be, what can I do actively to get in? Besides, randomly grouping people gives a chance to form new relationships. I find the same old Rad teams with 18, boring. Left up to people you'd basically get that. Boring. Role-play Suggestion - Super Buu - 09-23-2008 I also agree with that (though it would be a good idea to have more 'random' groups in sagas just so the same groups don't always happen). When I was in the Vegeta-Sei Rebellion, I knew nobody and my character was one of the only non-saiyans. Then I met up with Bra and got an 'in'. Or maybe Jason is just more receptive to new characters than the rest of you bastards =P Role-play Suggestion - Belle Hibiki - 09-24-2008 Super Buu Wrote:I also agree with that (though it would be a good idea to have more 'random' groups in sagas just so the same groups don't always happen). Role-play Suggestion - Minoshia - 09-24-2008 I like the ranks idea, partially because its a good idea and partially because Kirano shot it down. Just anything besides a power level rank or like a rank you can simply train for, plug away ten posts and you have it. Something similar to what Burter used to do for like Day 1 only in DA06, where he had the player's popularity amongst fans - and it was based on how much the public would like the character. For instance, we could do like a recognition meter or something - the public in the universe would know who Raditzu was more than Druss. I keep getting the very well hidden semi-rank system they used in Fable, where say Raditzu would be famous and lean mostly towards good, and combine that with his style and he'd be like a legendary good brawler of something. And have different levels for each, ranging from like unknown to legendary and demonic and angelic and anything from tactician to brawler to idk... I don't know where i'm going with this, but i like it. and so should you! Role-play Suggestion - Waffuru - 09-24-2008 Super Buu Wrote:I'm worried about 1, but not 2. I'll approve posts as I get them. Role-play Suggestion - Druss - 09-24-2008 Minoshia Wrote:I like the ranks idea, partially because its a good idea and partially because Kirano shot it down. I think i like that idea aswell, the only problem with that is how people could judge where everyone stands...Like i know i would be the lowest rank but i mean people who have beenhere for a while would it be judged on amount of posts or would it be staff decision what everyone rank would be? Role-play Suggestion - Minoshia - 09-25-2008 Then i was also thinking, like penalties to people who go inactive. We'll keep using Rad as an example because it's easy... he was legendary in my previous example because you'd assume a good majority of the public would recognize him. But since he's been inactive lately maybe take a step back or something. Or have a whole different rank system for people who go inacting like missing, and forgotten or something. Role-play Suggestion - Belle Hibiki - 09-25-2008 I'd like to see more interaction between players between sagas, as I believe was already mentioned. Not sure how you would implement that, though. An idea I had rattling around in my brain was some sort of randomized encounters. Perhaps weekly two players are randomly chosen to do some RPing together. This can end up being AU, not-counting, or if the players like it, eventually incorporated IC. But it could get people at least interacting with players they ordinarily would not be. Role-play Suggestion - Violet - 09-25-2008 Belle Hibiki Wrote:I'd like to see more interaction between players between sagas, as I believe was already mentioned. Not sure how you would implement that, though. That's actually along the lines of an idea I had, in the process of developing it before I present it to the rest of the staff. If you want, I'd love to hear more over AIM or something if you want to help me on it. Role-play Suggestion - Belle Hibiki - 09-25-2008 Sure, toss it my way. |
