The Like/Hate Thread - Belle Hibiki - 01-14-2011 Leo Wrote:Also calling me an idiot is uncalled for as I have done no personal attacks against you bar the statement that you yourself stated. If you can't take commenting on something as basic as your own statements, you should stay clear of public forums. What, you mean how you twisted and misinterpreted something I said and turned it around to say that I am somehow in favor of endorsed genocide? Because calling people idiots is apparently unjustified, but that's totally okay. Leo Wrote:Justifying it by saying it's "just another nine to five" job is bullshit. So is pickpocketing. So is burglary (except for the time frame). Crime is a job too and most people who are criminals tend to work for it as well. What a ludicrous reasoning. "The darkest hour never comes at night" and down to it it's your decision whether or not you would do it. I'm unsure what you're trying to say, here. I never said it was okay or not wrong. I just said I don't hate them for it. Which you would get if you read what I was saying at all, instead of knee-jerk reactionarily posting to what you think I'm posting. Leo Wrote:"You can avoid it if you know what you're doing", christ, it's nearly impossible to guarantee that you wont get hacked in your lifetime. No security if completely absolute. That is absolutely true. But WoW account hackers (which is what this is about) are by and large creatures of opportunity; they are not going to attempt to scale more than bare-bones security, because it's simply not an efficient use of time. Why spend longer than ten minutes trying to break into someone's account when they can just put a fake link on the official forums and snag a few people? I'm not versed in cookies, that's true. And you two may be right, on that particular score. The Like/Hate Thread - Rebekah - 01-14-2011 When it comes to Belle's argument. He's pretty accurate. Most of the WoW account hacks are caused by operator error. Stupidity by the end user or client. There are simple measures listed on the website on how to avoid phishing and fake blizzard sites. The problem is, that blizzard email I got was using my old email address. That was the only thing wrong with it at face value. The hackers correctly spoofed the Blizzard.com domain. Like Leo said if I hadn't traced it back I wouldn't have found the bounce and it's originating IP. China and Liguria(sp). EDIT: I apologize if I'm making this more complex than it needs to be. I'm not really arguing about what Leo had a problem with. I'm trying to support my side and your side at the same time. EDIT 2: My fast paced mind makes me miss words and use the wrong version of words. The Like/Hate Thread - Belle Hibiki - 01-14-2011 I've kinda made it a habit not to open the e-mails. Usually you can tell just from the language and use of improper english that it's not Blizzard ("please to be putting you're Blizzard Game account name and password or we will be canceling your Warcraft Game account"), but definitely if they start asking for username/passwords. (There's been ONE exception to that that I've seen, and I think that was in Runes of Magic for European users. At that time, the devs went in game and broadcasted "yes it's a real e-mail, sorry" for like three days.) The Like/Hate Thread - Belle Hibiki - 01-14-2011 I'm like ten minutes into Amnesia: Dark Descent. Like: Amnesia. Hate: AMNESIA. WHY ARE YOU SO MUCH LIKE FATAL FRAME. The Like/Hate Thread - John Doe - 01-14-2011 All that I got from these last few post was that I hate technology even more than I already do. The Like/Hate Thread - Rebekah - 01-14-2011 Belle Hibiki Wrote:I've kinda made it a habit not to open the e-mails. Good. It's not even just a virus or Trojan that can get your information. Malicious cookies and such can do it as well. For those of you following this and aren't aware of what a cookie is, you've encountered them all the time. Quote:A cookie, also known as a web cookie, browser cookie, and HTTP cookie, is a piece of text stored on a user's computer by their web browser. A cookie can be used for authentication, storing site preferences, shopping cart contents, the identifier for a server-based session, or anything else that can be accomplished through storing text data. Bolded section. Bam. Plain text. Not even encrypted. See where I'm going? lol The Like/Hate Thread - Alexander Trafford - 01-14-2011 Who plays WoW anyways? The Like/Hate Thread - Jarka - 01-14-2011 Simone Wrote:For those of you following this and aren't aware of what a cookie is, you've encountered them all the time. You're right, I do encounter cookies all the time! I plan on making a dozen or so after work tonight. Hate: That I couldn't stop myself from making such a ridiculously unfunny and out of date joke. Hi, I'm from 1996, I hear you have this thing called Netscape Navigator? You use it to surf the World Wide Web? Also, Bill Clinton, LOL. Like: I was serious about those cookies. yumyum The Like/Hate Thread - Tyr - 01-14-2011 @Belle I actually lost my train of thought in this discussion and decided not to bother anymore. Just posting this post to say I've read the response but the train of thought I was in while writing seems lost to me. Might have been too distracted. The Like/Hate Thread - Super Buu - 01-14-2011 Hate: being unemployed again. Like: being unemployed again. The Like/Hate Thread - Kaden - 01-14-2011 lol @ blaming victims. EDIT: Obvious troll is obvious. I apologize. The Like/Hate Thread - Kazuya - 01-14-2011 Alexander Trafford Wrote:Who plays WoW anyways? Me <.< I'm working on a fourth and fifth 80. (85). The Like/Hate Thread - Kaden - 01-14-2011 It's not really a hate, but it sucks when shit happens that ruins your plans for the day. Well... it sucks when it's something that you can't really be mad about. Then you just have all that... irritation, I guess? Just sitting there, stewing. Like a jerk. And they pay you to do it instead of the other way around. I'm balls deep in this Retail MMO right now, but as much as I grind I'm still level 2 or something shitty. =( But for reals that Old Republic Shit should be cool...if you wanted to be a Jedi (see: everyone) The Like/Hate Thread - Juno - 01-15-2011 Kami Wrote:Jobs are good for that too. The Like/Hate Thread - Dehan - 01-15-2011 If I had a computer that could run TOR I would go bounty hunter or something. I think they would have the best skills to take down a jedi or sith ingame PVP wise. Like/Hate: That my sister is now even more obsessed with the Iron Man films, Hulk and the upcoming Thor and Captain America films. Hate: that my mother's sister has stolen from our great aunt who has cancer and some other foul shit. It's just fucked up.
