There is. Tryg's server isn't set up that way, but other servers are PvP, with varying rules regarding confrontation. As in, for some of them, you have full ability and rights to fuck the shit out of someone's base and steal their stuff.

I'm actually considering saving the map I have now of the server, and switching it to a PvP server for a month or so to see how it is. With some varying rules and such, maybe even do this periodically. I'll post on the minecraft forum about it and gauge interest that way.
