Belle Hibiki Wrote:Yeah. Belated point here, but I quit when my T2 ice miner got locked down and blown up by a pirate in low sec space. I'd looked away from the game for one minute, came back, found myself warp-jammed and being torn to pieces, and just had to sit there and watch as 100+ million of ISK went swiftly down the drain, with no real way to get it back (T2 insurance is garbage).

Permanently lost. Gone. Why? Because some chucklehead wanted to play a pirate for a night and get his rocks off destroying other people's hard-earned work. The only way to avoid this thing is to RABIDLY watch Local for anyone and run like a pussy to a station the second a portrait (that is not your own lovely mug) shows up.

I don't care how in depth your game is. When you punish players for not playing like a paranoid schizophrenic, you can't legitimately call it fun. If the ONLY way for me to be secure is to roll around in a 10+ player fleet, the pain is somewhat mollified by my contact with people over Vent, but that doesn't change how shitty and unforgiving a "game" EVE is. It's a game for "hardcore" players and griefers who enjoy high-stakes e-peen contests and little else.

Yahtzee did a review on EVE Online a while back that was pretty spot on, at least with regards to player corporations: "But then there are apparently people who can stay awake long enough to join and run player corporations. Either they're all bizarro people that wear shoes on their heads or I'm underestimating the appeal of having a second job that you have to pay for."

The end game content looks so amazing, imo, but fuck a) the commitment needed, and b) the schizophrenia aspect. I absolutely hate losing shit I worked hard on, it's enough to make me never play a game again.

How hard is it to accumulate 100 million isk?

It's kind of disgraceful that as a wrestling fanatic, I still haven't seen it. I guess I'll go see it tonight.

Depended on you, really. I was a highly trained miner. I was flying around in a Covetor (the highest T1 stage mining barge, a ship specialized for mining ore), using top-of-the line, modular mining lasers that were augmented by crystals to help them specifically mine things like Hemorphite and Jaspet (were the best mats where I was), and it would still take me over an hour to mine enough mats = to 100 million.

That's not too bad.

Still not gonna play it though.

I liked There will be blood. Daniel Day Lewis is a fucking amazing actor. The only thing that was a bit iffy, was the last 20 minutes. It didn't really feel in-synch with the rest of the film. But overall an enjoyable movie.

I like Philip Glass.

In my Humanities class, like 2 years ago, Philip Glass was one of the people on this page our teacher gave us of famous Buddhists. I didn't know who the fuck he was, didn't recognize the picture, but I was drawn to him somehow. Maybe it was just because his name is awesome, our maybe it was... destiny.

My music teacher would always look at my "compositions", which were nothing but bars and bars of arpeggios, and write stuff like "Philip Glass gheyness" or just "Philip Glass" because that's apparently Mr. Glass's style. (lol, Mr. Glass.) But, I had no idea who this guy was during the time, so the reference went over my head.

And I've been looking him up, he's apparently made an opera that was 5 fucking hours long (the album with the songs is a wopping 3 hours), and he's composed the score to some of my favorite movies, THE ONES THAT I REMEMBER BECAUSE I LOVED THE MUSIC SO MUCH.

See: Secret Window

Also see: The Illusionist

One of his songs was featured in a trailer for Watchmen, which I felt was twice as awesome because of the music. Pruit-Igoe is the name of it, and it was also featured in the GTA-IV soundtrack.

It's like I just found a huge piece of some puzzle that I was never out to solve.

Music is awesome.

I wondered what the music in the Watchmen trailer was. Awesome.
