Jonathan Meer Wrote:Designing programs requires significant creative ability.

Meer is right, but it is a significantly different sort of creative ability to say, designing something of a visual or aural artistic form, or designing something as an engineer, or designing a game.

Creative ability is really a very varied term these days.

That said I think Sage was referring to a less abstract form of creativeness (I.E something more directly tangible than code -> form), which is accurate enough and a totally fair reason to find the idea of learning code difficult/uninteresting.

I am in a similar boat. I have a very strong math/science background, and a solid grasp on at least the function of programming. But the process of writing code itself is something that I am unlikely to ever get my head to any useful degree. Code and I just don't agree.

I'm just glad that my line of study is something that is mostly arts-focused, but with a solid lump of the sciences in there too. A nice share of both technical skill and applied theory. It's fun, satisfying and has loads of applications (but I do want to go into game design and animation, of course, if I can).

If I could I'd rather design weapons.

The Like/Hate Thread - Anzekay - 05-29-2013

You mean weapons for real life use?

Both fiction and real life.

I think Vad just wants to be Ironman. Start out as a weapons developer, get blown up and kidnapped, make a new heart for himself and a super suit, fight crime, and profit. S'good plan.

No I'd like not to be lonely and depressed on my birthday, but we can't all get what we want.

The Like/Hate Thread - Jonathan Meer - 05-30-2013

Use OkCupid and http://www.meetup.com

If they both turn up empty, consider moving to a city

I have a girlfriend.

I've met a good number of platonic friends via OkC, and meetup has all sorts of cool stuff in my area

Fuck spanish. Fuck it. Fuck it. FUCK IT! Why must this be the single class I need before I can get my degree? Why the fuck do they have this ridiculous fucking piece of shit on the requirement list?

Fuck it.

The Like/Hate Thread - King B - 06-25-2013

You only need a language credit right? Why take Spanish?

The Like/Hate Thread - Super Buu - 06-25-2013

That's pretty fuckin' weird if your degree has nothing to do with Spanish. That's what I hated about SCHOOL, that I had to do a bunch of shit I had no interest in (guess what: years later, I've forgotten everything about the french language). But a degree? That's fucked.

The Like/Hate Thread - Dehan - 06-26-2013

Yeah. It was either spanish or German. At the time I was like '...you guys are also offering Japanese and Chinese. I'm interested in both, can't I take one of those?' 'Oh no, those would only count as electives.' '...shit. Spanish than I guess...shit.' 'Oh great, trust me it's easy.' Four and a half years later, four spanish classes because I needed 101, 102, 203 and the last one 204(which I'm taking now). I've only retained maybe four percent of what I've learned. Fuck. Just fuck. I just want to teach. ENGLISH! I want to write. IN ENGLISH.

Why must a guy take Spanish. Shit.

Like that it's an online class but fuck, I can't find anyone to partner up with to do my assignments or to give me a helping hand. The professor is a douche who savored tormenting me in class last year along with others who weren't confident and needed help and now I'm stuck with him yet again. I just hope he doesn't remember me.

Fuck Spanish. And I want to write. You butts need to rp too!

I like venting here Smile nice and quiet.
Now I get why some just go an easier route just to avoid this shit.

If he's teaching in English it could make him an eligible candidate in teaching minorities. It is after all America's second most common language. Not to mention in some places being bi-lingual can mean the difference in career locations and sometimes even opportunity.

Dehan, if you really want to RP I'm down. Lets get something in the works.

The Like/Hate Thread - Vad - 06-29-2013

I want to learn Russian.

The Like/Hate Thread - Dehan - 06-30-2013

Long story short, fuck Spanish. Love Spanish chicks and tacos. But fuck the language. Shun, check your inbox.

Vad let me be Turles. Canons still exist...nobody rps...lemme be heeeeeeeeeeeiiiiim.

If I'm not mistaken that's been ok'd already. Earlier this year in the Red Stallions thread members were allowed to use their old characters. I don't think it would be an issue really.

I think this is the thread: http://www.cdbzrpg.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29732
