Below, three brick steps rendered unusable by potted plants on every step,
A mother-made barricade, an attempt to keep a vistor from calling.
Above, me, watching through iron bars on a concrete balcony,
Waiting for a car. She loves me enough for a few leafy obstacles.
Arrival, and I escape through the window. Mother will be furious.
But there is no door-defence she can muster
That my dearest's baseball bat can't fix.
