Personal Saga? - Sol - 06-07-2007

What is the official definition of a personal saga? To the best of my knowledge it's just someone (or a group) rping in a very long running thread with a ton of replies and and on going story, but just out of curiosity can someone clarify some things for me?

-Can you receive rewards for your work in a personal saga(if not mistaken I think broli got some stuff for his work on his giant thread on Vegeta)?
-If rewards are possible what are their likelyhood(I know on AD the minimum for TP rewards is like 7,000 words, if chubbs does offer rewards what would their ball parked minimum be)?

and...umm...that's it Big Grin
I thought I had more questions but I guess not.

A personal saga is anything that's not a quest, tournament, staff-run saga, or other "official" event. Its just a special way of RPing your character. I think I would agree that the specific term "personal saga" is usually reserved for longer endeavor.

To answer your questions:

-Yes.
-Not good.

If character development and exploration aren't enough of a reason to do your writing, then work it into a quest or something.

We have given out rewards before, but those were either for very special cases, or cases in which an individual had already earned something. Broli is a good example of the former, with his Vegeta-sei storyline, while Garlic Jr is a good example of the latter.

I've heard from a staff member before that if you want your personal saga to have rewards, then you provide them yourself. Yamu, back when he ran a tournament, made a fee to enter. The total amount collected from entering then became the pot for the winner.

That was a little bit different, since it was a tournament. Just saying "and then Rad found a wallet with a million zeni in it" doesn't mean we'll just let you have a million zeni.

I suppose one could say that a good, well writen, personal saga is like a really delicious cake... And any rewards that you happened to get from it is like some icing on top. It's obvious praise for your hard work, but the cake is already so damn good it doesn't make much difference wether you have the icing or not.

Food metaphor ftw?
