Devil May Cry 4 - Sage - 03-02-2008

What a letdown!

It felt like I beat it in twenty minutes. Seriously, what the hell? This is the revolutionary saviour to the franchise everyone's been babbling about? I'm actually upset I wasted money on it.

Playing as Nero was... neat. And Dante was cool, too, albeit frustrating, since I don't know how to effectively take out those walking suits of armor without the Devil Bringer.

Still... the game feels like you're starting at the ending. As soon as it gets really interesting, it's over.

And yeah, wow. Dante gets to do the same stuff Nero did! Awesome!! I totally didn't think I had enough fun doing it the first time. *Sigh*

I'm starting to think the good games are done for. I haven't played anything new that's been really good in a couple years now.

Yeah, unless you really enjoy challenging yourself by playing on the hardest difficulties, and trying to improve your grades, DMC 4 doesn't have great replay value.

I'm trying to play on the harder difficulties, but after two playthroughs I'm already finding it differcult to motivate myself to play through the game again.

It's a shame, cause the gameplay is great.

Devil May Cry 4 - Sage - 03-03-2008

Yeah... maybe.

The gameplay didn't do much for me, either. The choreography was incredible, and the special moves Nero did with his Demon Arm looked impossibly painful. The visuals were stunning; one of the nicest-looking games I've ever played.

But it felt like I was just doing the same thing over and over again, like the developers just didn't have their hearts in it.

Devil May Cry 4 - Rem-13 - 03-03-2008

Well its my second favorite DMC. I think the reason I liked this game is because I was so ready to hate Nero, and I actually liked his character for some inexplicable reason.

Amen, brah. I was sure that Nero was going to be the next Raiden, but he ended up being almost as badass as Dante.

I had a lot of fun playing DMC4. And I tend not to analyze games that I have a lot of fun with. When I do, I invariably find things that are overdone or mundane or cliche or just kind of stupid. There's not a whole lot that hasn't been done, so when a game comes along and makes "more of the same" fun to play, I just nod along.

Now, if the game hadn't actually been fun, I'd have a whole lot to say about it. I'm just glad that's not the case. Dante's way too cool to bitch about.

Devil May Cry 4 - Sage - 03-05-2008

I thought Nero was really cool, and I, too, was ready to hate him.

...But I... also thought Raiden was a good character, too. <.<;;

Devil May Cry 4 - Kaden - 03-05-2008

Raiden wasn't bad, in and of himself, but you started the game as Snake. There's nowhere to go but down from there.

Devil May Cry 4 - Dr. Cringle - 03-05-2008

I got about halfway through it, then lost interest....... ;>_>

Ok, I lied when I said I lost interest. What really happened was that I accidentally scratched the shit out of it before I got halfway through. ='( /shame

Devil May Cry 4 - Jack - 03-05-2008

I really don't see what the big deal is about this franchise. I gave the demo a shot and it was completely lame, just like all the rest.

Devil May Cry 4 - Kaden - 03-05-2008

What other good action games are there?

That's why its a big deal.

The closest thing to DMC, in my estimation, is Dynasty Warriors. And they're a ways off from each other.

Devil May Cry 4 - Rem-13 - 03-05-2008

Ninja Gaiden.

Devil May Cry 4 - Kaden - 03-05-2008

I stand corrected. Ninja Gaiden would definitely be the next best thing.

Devil May Cry 4 - Sage - 03-06-2008

You remember the SNES side-scroller beat-em-up games?

Those were the height of gaming.

Turtles in Time. You can't beat fucking Turtles in Time. You can't. Just try.

Devil May Cry 4 - Kaden - 03-06-2008

Actually, Viewtiful Joe is my favorite action game. Easily. With VJ2 being the runner up.

Anyway, I found this both amusing and coincidental.

Devil May Cry 4 - Rem-13 - 03-06-2008

yahtzee has yet to disappoint me.

Devil May Cry 4 - Kaden - 03-06-2008

He's pretty awesome. He certainly helps my otherwise incredibly mundane Wednesdays.

Devil May Cry 4 - Sage - 03-09-2008

That was hilarious.

Devil May Cry 4 - Jack - 03-09-2008

Triple cunted hooker?

oh man.
