Character Switch: Zangya --> Crimson - Juno - 06-14-2008 Quote:Name: Crimson Note: I would like to save my four best move slots for later. As far as the -20 goes, I took away two best moves. That's equal to 20 TP. Character Switch: Zangya --> Crimson - Alura - 06-14-2008 You can't just take away best moves. You have to actual take it from your stored TP. You don't just cash in best moves. Character Switch: Zangya --> Crimson - Kaden - 06-14-2008 After all the nonsense you went through to get Zangya back, you're just going to switch? Character Switch: Zangya --> Crimson - Juno - 06-14-2008 @Burter: Alright, I'll redistribute my stats and add those best moves back in. @Raditzu: Honestly, I never saw why that "nonsense" was neccessary. First off, I was under the impression that I had the right to switch back to the canon I was previously with a stat penalty, but secondly, it wasn't even, from my point of view, a switch. Switching to Zangya was meant to be a temporary thing in the first place. I would have simply rejoined as Zangya had I had the password to my old account. But I didn't, so I made a quick little custom named Julius that I could possibly roleplay for a bit till I had one in mind. Rad, I remember sending you a PM on my first day back asking if it would be possible to switch back to Zangya that you never responded to. Julius was an option for a custom, but I didn't like him, so I switched to Zangya, for purposes of having something to RP as while I put work into a custom character. I've put work into that custom, developed him, thought about it, and I've gone back and forth on the decision several times. I've asked for outside help in helping me decide, and the people who I've gone to have been very supportive and helpful. I understand that I have a problem with switching, but that's because previously, I've been impulsive in my switches, which is a problem I'm attempting to heal by putting work into Crimson. I enjoy RP'ing as him. I enjoy RP'ing as Jezebel. I enjoy RP'ing as Zangya. But there's nowhere that I can go with these characters that I can see myself enjoying in the long run. I got bored with Zangya in DA, and I betrayed my team. Sure, I had fun in DA, and it was one of the better experiences I've had in my RPing years, but it wasn't enough to convince me that Zangya was the right character for me, even though for a time, I thought she might be. I may be making that same mistake with Crimson, I may not. But I don't think I am. I think I've built a solid character that I can find pleasure in developing. The problem I found with Zangya was that she couldn't ever change realistically, and realism (to an extent) is something I can't live without in my own writing. The only way I could change her was to completely erase everything that had happened to her. The traumatized girl just wasn't enough, and so I came up with Odd, an NPC that I had never liked anyways, Jezebel, a female Buu who I realized, in the end, would end up like Zangya no matter what I did, and Crimson, a vicious, unique (at least for me) character that I could possibly have fun with. I've designed him to where he suits my interests and can help me in my times of indecision. Androids are easy to convincingly change, and so if I ever get tired of him, I have storylines in my head that will allow me to RP him in a different fashion, that will allow me to get anything I want from him. He's a character that I have worked very hard on creating and learning to RP over the past few weeks, and I believe that he would be a good choice for me. If I'm wrong, oh well -- I'll stick with him anyways and try to work through it in some way. EDIT: If you really think I shouldn't switch, I'll stay as Zangya and try to get her back to my liking. I'll be willing to, if you truly think I have no viable reason to switch. Character Switch: Zangya --> Crimson - Kaden - 06-14-2008 Zangya Wrote:The problem I found with Zangya was that she couldn't ever change realistically That's a cop-out that I never have, and never will, take with any amount of respect. Look at Eighteen. She was tired of her character, she found a way to change her into something she liked. And then she went on to win DA. Not only is it possible to change a character (Rad has been through, at least, four different "incarnations," as I call them), but doing so often brings out more energy, motivation, and creativity than you thought you had. (When I say "you" in this case, I don't mean Zangya, personally, I mean whoever is reading this) It also brings you closer to the actual character. I read your post and see a lot of excuses why you should be justified in giving up on Zangya instead of stretching yourself as a writer and creating something that you didn't have before. The bottom line is that you're free to change if you want to. We won't say "no, you can't switch," but I think you stand to gain a lot more from sticking it out and I think it would really bring out a lot of the potential that you have. But, at the end of the day, it's still your choice no matter what anyone else says. Character Switch: Zangya --> Crimson - Juno - 06-14-2008 I respect you as a writer, Raditzu. I respect you as an administrator, as well. So I'm going to take your advice. I'm going to try this one last time, and if I'm not satisfied, if I can't stretch myself into enjoying Zangya, then I'll switch. I do really enjoy writing as Crimson, though. Can I still post some of my work as him in the Workshop, just to get that urge out to play his story? Bouncing ideas off of someone, coming up with a storyline that works, whatever. I'm happy to help. Character Switch: Zangya --> Crimson - Alura - 06-14-2008 Basically a complete agreement of what Raditzu said. If you switch now, you're taking the easy way out. Then you'll probably do it again. And again. And again. Character Switch: Zangya --> Crimson - Juno - 06-14-2008 Thank you guys. Really, though I may get frustrated with you all at times (I was very flustered with you, Rad, when I posted that gargantuan paragraph, xD) the Chubbs staff and admins are perhaps some of the most helpful staff I've seen. Thanks to both of you, I hope not to see you in one of these types of topics again, xD. Not the first time someone's been flustered with me. Character Switch: Zangya --> Crimson - Juno - 06-14-2008 Thanks =] Character Switch: Zangya --> Crimson - Alura - 06-14-2008 I'd like to point that I was Burter when I joined four years ago. I switched briefly to Burter Jr, and it was the least active few months I've ever had on Chubbs. Ever. |
