I'm looking(about to go to the library in a few hours and see if they can help me) for other ways the government/world is providing protection for troops, if anyone knows the name of devices used to detect bombs or new body armor let me know. I need a few things to put in the conclusion to my paper so anything posted will be appreciated.

Level Five Dragonskin.
Seriously, that's the real name.
It's like the best body armor ever made and yet for some inexplicable reason the US DoD claims it's unsafe and won't let their troops wear it. This shit is more ergonomic, too. Easier to move in.
I think it has something to do with some kind of falling out they had over a contract for level 4 Dragonskin, which isn't good enough to stop a 7.62mm round. ...But then again, nothing I've ever heard about stops a 7.62mm round. Except level 5 Dragonskin. Or like, a tank. Or bunker. Or whatever. But you can't really wear an M1A1 Abrams.
Speaking of which, the Abrams has outrageous technology to assist the crew's situational awareness. You could write a thesis on the gear in one of those tanks alone.

Thanks, that link helped me out and I remember researching dragon skin for my cousin before the army put a stop to soldiers buying their own body armor.
