Images in Rpz - Jack - 01-14-2009
With the new character county thinga-ma-jig, what's the policy on posting images in-character? I'm assuming the system would count them towards XP. The average photobucket image url is like 60-70 characters, but I can shorten them down to like 20-30 with TinyUrl (would the system still count the 60-70?).

I did twice in the last DA. John Wayne made an appearance, and then Bigfoot later on. Just some humorous randomness.
Kurt Vonnegut usually doodles in his books. It's just something for added effect.
As for now, BBJ will be a frequent acid tripper. And I figure it'll be fun to sometimes throw in random cameos, or even make doodles myself and post them.

Sadly, the text in the url counts for XP. There might be a solution so for now the answer is no, but I'll see if I can't make it work.

Uh. What about other VBcode? Like [i], [b], and such? I assume those count too.
Just speaking as a player, I don't see the issue. I mean, barring him having a link that's like 100+ characters or using 5 images in a single post or some shit, it shouldn't be that big a deal, right?

Characters within code brackets do not count towards xp counts, so things like I, B, U, etc are fine.
With IMG, the entire code is not enclosed by the brackets. It is "IMG"http://www.randomurlimg.com"/IMG", which has that URL between the code, thus it would count.
As much as I'd use it myself, we can't actually allow it for that reason.

And it sucks. But we can't officially ignore what technically counts as a rules violation, even though it's clear you aren't doing it for the sake of XP. Maybe post the accompanying pics in an RPG Discussion thread?

Don't mean to jump in if I'm not supposed to, but couldn't you just as easily just make a word a link to that said picture.
"It looked kinda like THIS[have pic link there]"
That way you'd still have the image available within the post and the url would be inside the brackets so they wouldn't affect your XP...

Yeah, that would work. As long as the url was contained in the brackets [url=http://blabhalbhalbhablha.com/blah.jpg]words here[url]
Also you can use the attachment system (I just set it up again so it should be working for everyone) and attach your images to the bottom of your posts. It's under additional options.

In this case I'd probably just be best off putting it in RPG Discussion. It's all good.
This wasn't that big a deal, I just get frustrated when any roadblocks get in the way of me being inspired. Considering I'm inspired like, 3 times a year?
