Ki Question - Alexander Trafford - 03-04-2009
I'm considering having Alex unable to manifest ki in balls or beams to attack, and instead rely on his psychokinesis and require a medium for ki attacks. for example, instead of simply firing a energy ball, he would need to launch a rock imbued with ki for the same effect. I'm considering doing this either permanently, or having him have this quirk temporarily until he fully develops his abilities. The question is, would i be able to use a hand gun and imbue the bullets with energy? I figured i'd ask since you have to purchase energy rifles and augmenting regular, steel bullets with ki seemed like a tricky subject. Firing a handgun and having ki augmented bullets would basically be utilizing a medium to perform 'The Clint Eastwood', but i figured i would check with you guys.

I don't plan on making the medium increase the strength of the attack in any way btw, it would be exactly like i was shooting the bolt out of my finger, the medium is basically just a prop for a character quirk.

I'm on the fence. Since you have psycho, I'm inclined to say yes. However, since we make everybody else purchase a gun, I'm inclined to say no. Gonna think about it and post tonight, or wait till an admin or super mod makes a decision. Whatever comes first.

This isn't a substitute for purchasing the gun, atleast not in my opinion. My shooting 'The Clint Eastwood' out of the barrel of a gun will have the same effect as me shooting it out of my finger, it will tax my energy and progressively become weaker as i run out of energy. And using a medium will be more taxing on my energy and stamina because i'm not only using energy i'm using psycho.
I see the purchaseable gun as a way to fire off unlimited amounts of ki without taxing your own system, and the bolts will be consistently strong no matter what kind of condition you are in.
It's the same thing as, for example, Minoshia firing a energy ball out of his finger in contrast to him firing it out of the XRS -### (i don't remember the numbers?). Except that, for Alex, this is more of a disadvantage because it limits the size of the ki i can manifest and fire to the size of a bullet, rather than a large ball or beam. Where Minoshia could just rocket off a basketball sized energy blast, Alex can only fire bolts the size of bullets - unless he has a basketball sized object around, that is.
