Drawrering - Jack - 06-17-2009

I wanted to get back into sketching/drawing (been a good 10 years), but I have no idea where to start. I'd rather not get any of those cheesy "How to Drawr Spiderman!" books or anything, but I'd learn best with a book or something if you guys know any good ones.

I never used to trace things because I felt that was gay/cheating. But is that how people learn? I DID used to draw other people's stuff, but I'd recreate it by drawing side by side, not by tracing.

Not a fan of teh manga style.

Go.

In art class we learned to just pick up a pencil and draw. We would draw anything around us. You could start by drawing your hand, or by drawing a bowel of fruit. My brother bought those mini maniquins that you can move around and position how you want so that you can draw bodies properly.

Yeah, art books have never done it for me, I've learned what I learned from just drawing. Started out with teh manganations, then comics, and later real life (which is of course where I should have STARTED). Of course I am not that good so take it with salt.

Here's something I had laying around.
