Post some anime/manga! - Milk Bubble - 08-21-2009 I found the coolest manga ever, I'm torrenting it right now but I'm thinking about buying it instead. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lady_Snowblood It's pretty much the inspiration behind Kill Bill, apparently. Anyways, post some moar! Post some anime/manga! - Pinky - 08-21-2009 girls saurus and girls saurus dx http://www.onemanga.com/Girls_Saurus/1/ http://www.onemanga.com/Girls_Saurus_DX/1/ high school kid gets hospitalized by a monstrous naked fat girl. he then gets panic attacks when he sees any female, but since it's embarrassing he doesn't tell anybody about it, which causes girls to think of him as mysterious and manly. comedy ensues. occasional nudity, usually when he has vietnam-style flashbacks of getting beaten to a pulp. Post some anime/manga! - Chase - 08-21-2009 Shijo Saikyo no Deshi. Or History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi. http://www.onemanga.com/Historys_Strongest_Disciple_Kenichi/ Also has an anime with 50 or so episodes which are awesome, however the real awesomeness starts after the anime ends. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZRa7D4dnas&feature=fvw Episode 49, basically the end battle of the anime. Probably filled with spoilers, but you get to see all the different martial art styles involved in there. Heck, at the end he does a Jujutsu hold that is real and very practical. Post some anime/manga! - Kaden - 08-21-2009 I've read a bunch of Kenichi, and it's definitely awesome. I also enjoyed the Soul Eater manga a lot more than I was expecting to. Very shonen, but still fun stuff. I also recommend Zero In. Its kind of a cop/action manga that's pretty good. There are half a dozen other series I'm reading on One Manga, but most aren't that far along. I managed to catch the first two episodes of Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple on On Demand, but the rest they had on their cost bank that I didn't have. =( It looked good so far though, if a little cliche'. Post some anime/manga! - Kaden - 08-21-2009 Oh Kenichi is totally cliche. All "shonen" series are. Sometimes that's boring, but sometimes all I want is to see the good guy pull some complete bullshit and strike cool poses. I basically skipped from 100ish to 240 without telling, because they didn't have 100-240 scanlated yet, and the 'next' button linked me to after the gap. Which wasn't bad, because spoilers in Kenichi are pretty tiny, but he got a new suit or something, and I was wondering what the hell he was doing in his Karate Gi when new chapters got released. Luckily some group speed-scanlated them. For more Shonen types: http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/ One Piece - No introduction needed. Probably my most liked manga or anime so far. http://www.onemanga.com/Katekyo_Hitman_Reborn/ Hitman Reborn - Another one I like. The anime started out like Dragonball, rather silly, more comedy than anything, then made its way up to DBZ, serious tone, lots of effects in fighting, a teenage blowing through several blocks with his internal 'power'. Lots of fun. Also baby mafiosos, always interesting. http://www.onemanga.com/Veritas/ Veritas - Basically, cliche-riffic, but really neat art, and even a cool basic idea. http://www.onemanga.com/Hajime_no_Ippo/ Hajime no Ippo - I don't think I could do this manga justice, but yeah. There's also a new season of this anime out which just finished, and they're working on another season. http://www.onemanga.com/Fairy_Tail/ Fairy Tail - Graphical style similar to One Piece because the artist and OP's Oda Eiichiro worked under the same master or something. It'll be getting its own anime soon. http://www.onemanga.com/AIKI/ AIKI - Pretty fun. Unique graphical style from what I've seen. Lately got kind of boring though. Others: http://www.onemanga.com/12_Prince/ 1/2 Prince - MMORPG meets manga, all this based on a novel. Incredibly fun, cool art, and gender bending. http://www.onemanga.com/No_Bra/ No Bra - Guy meets girl, only girl is actually a guy, and the girl-guy thinks guy is someone who guy doesn't remember being because it was in his childhood, or something along the lines. Gender bender fun. That's off the top of my head. I would be interested in things like drama, deep character decisions, character development, etc. I don't care for the silly comedy I see in some anime. Except for Hamtaro. I fucking love Hamtaro. Post some anime/manga! - Tyr - 08-22-2009 A serious anime? Are you not too much for gory things? Elfen Lied has some of the elements you describe, however it is very gory at times. In particular the first episode. Post some anime/manga! - Jonathan Meer - 08-22-2009 I'm not too concerned about gore. Post some anime/manga! - Sage - 08-22-2009 I'm actually in Meer's situation. Anime/manga's always been a point of idle interest that I never got into. Post some anime/manga! - Tyr - 08-22-2009 Elfen Lied could be worth a shot, Meer. It's relatively serious, within anime's boundaries, and is a lot about personal choices, drama and plot twists. Post some anime/manga! - Jonathan Meer - 08-22-2009 Yeah. Some of my friends are, and they always talk about, and are like, Chris, check it out, and I watch it, and it's just kinda like, 'Meh.' The silly stuff bugs the hell out of me. The 'serious' stuff I've watched moves pretty slow. Seems like there is lag in every word spoken, and in every action, etc etc. EDIT: That's two; I'll check out Elfen Lied then. What's it like? Post some anime/manga! - Tyr - 08-22-2009 Uhm. The bits I remember (I didn't watch much of it), it's like watching a very violent parenting series. Just the 'baby' is a psychotic experiment and the 'parents' have no clue about this. Post some anime/manga! - Josh - 08-22-2009 Jonathan Meer Wrote:What would you all recommend to someone who doesn't indulge in anime/manga too often? Liar Game is a manga requiring deep thought, it deals a lot with human psyche since most of the time the main characters are attempting to manipulate others to reach their goals. Besides Rod's a fag and wouldn't know a good manga if it bit him in the ass, you should read it just because he said it sucked. http://www.onemanga.com/Liar_Game/ Or you might like Monster, it's psychological thriller- very good. http://www.onemanga.com/Monster/ Post some anime/manga! - Jonathan Meer - 08-22-2009 Elfen Lied, Liar Game, and Monster. I'll check them out. Post some anime/manga! - Pinky - 08-22-2009 Josh admitted that he enjoys stupid things (thats why u talk 2 me rite lolololol) so anybody that listens to him deserves what they get. |
