Dragon Ball Online - Cain - 08-29-2009

Anyone sure that it's coming to the U.S., Canada, and Europe?

Various trailers on the second one.

Dragon Ball Online - Waffuru - 08-29-2009

Unlikely for now.

Dragon Ball Online - Jonathan Meer - 08-29-2009

Wikipedia lists US as 'TBA'.

I really hope it does.

Dragon Ball Online - Super Buu - 08-29-2009

If obscure Korean MMOs can get English translations, I'm sure DBO will. They'd be missing out on a ton of money if they didn't at least do a half-assed port. More important to wonder is if the game is any fun.

The thing with obscure Korean MMOs is there is no licensing issue, just about anyone can pick up distribution for the english market.

There are many different companies in US/EU/UK market with rights to Dragonball and Dragonball games for just any old publisher to get the game. It would be someone like Atari who might not be willing to spend the money on localization for what would likely be an only moderately successful MMO.

Dragon Ball Online - Rafael - 08-29-2009

I do hope it makes it here, that would be kickass.

Dragon Ball Online - Rem-13 - 08-29-2009

It the DB Movies fault for being a piece of shit. Well, no, allow me to clarify. For not making enough money.

Dragon Ball Online - Cain - 08-30-2009

It's not in open beta yet, so we'll find out in the coming years. The Korean guy working on the project expressed interest in spreading the game worldwide.

Yes, it's still happening.

Full trailer.
Character creation.

Beta supposably out in Korea soon, full game will be released in Korea in November, Japan getting it later, but unannounced yet. No confirmed dates for EU or North America yet.

Example of one of the quests: kidnappingrescuing baby Goku!
Combat: Vs. Vegeta!
Scenery looks pretty nice too.

Another image confirming yes, quests can go all the way back to Dragon Ball.

Also, each class seems to get... something unique.
Majin line
Super Nameks!
And this is practically to be expected, even if they are "humans."

Also, collection of gameplay videos. Includes summoning Shenron and PVP.

Dragon Ball Online - Rafael - 09-12-2009

0.0 Namekians have horns now, do they?

and yeah, of course humans get "Super Saiyan". Massive draw, though I'm going Namek first at least

Dragon Ball Online - Tyr - 09-12-2009

They don't get Super Saiyan. This is just character customization, it's in the FAQ on the English site.

EDIT: Of course they edited their website layout so I can't find it for shit now, got like 3 people on a Skype conver with me who all saw it, so I'm not trying to pull shit here.

Dragon Ball Online - Super Buu - 09-12-2009

Nah humans apparently do get a powerup that's not super saiyan but is basically the same thing. I watched the fight video with Vegeta and it seemed to be missing something. The characters weren't moving around much besides in animation and the occasional knockback, looks too generic an MMO. Champions Online seem to be leading the way in 'action' MMOs.

Dragon Ball Online - Tyr - 09-12-2009

Indeed. Although there are some animations in many other trailers there are just about as equal in action..ity...

Dragon Ball Online - Deo - 09-12-2009

I totally made Deo in CO, by the way. I picked martial arts, which was a horrible idea.

Dragon Ball Online - Deo - 09-14-2009

So...the Saiyans are supposed to be extinct. The humans are now the ones with "Super Saiyan" (seems Goku and Vegeta's kids and grandkids got pretty busy). Also seems that you'd need to be really high-leveled to even get Super, or maybe have completed a quest to get it. And even then, seems the Majins and even Nameks get stuff that'll compensate for "Super Humans."

Also, some things:

Seems Red's become a cyborg.

Also, this site.

Dragon Ball Online - Ashe - 09-15-2009

You totally can't blame them for deciding that Saiyan popularity is unbalanceably high and nixing it. From a game development standpoint, even if they put the race in with zero bonuses and everyone else was stronger, an overwhelming percentage of your user base would still pick it for flavor reasons. And then, you have a pissed off 70% of your user base that is mad because "All the other races are overpowered" and will just insist that the other races be equalized; and they should be balanced. But its not really a doable thing there. In my opinion, anyway.

Also, the Majin chick actually looks kinda cool.

Dragon Ball Online - Deo - 09-15-2009

Surprised no one is talking about Afro-man.
