Poetry - Sage - 03-03-2010 inb4ahahagay So, for this Creative Writing course at my university, my final portfolio was comprised of a short story called Insolvent Earth, along with a poetry collection of three poems, one called Avarice, one Softly Spoken Lies, and one called Section 249.2. Somehow I managed a B+ on this assignment. The following is a poem about zombies. Avarice Sullen eyes and bloody fingernails, Shuffling footsteps and inconsolable wails, Cold, around an unbeating heart, Mottled flesh, grey and dark. Attention piqued, a spark of life in a soft, warm cage, Sudden awareness, curiosity bathed in rage, From the blackness, an inhuman shriek, Voracious flurry, renders the formidable weak. Screams and madness and fury and blood, Flesh and bone and body break beneath the unliving flood, Masses of dead-but-not-dead swarming the living, No quarter or solace or refuge from these creatures unforgiving. The fallen have risen and they hunt the living spark, Industries gone silent and cities gone dark, Hope a myth lost in seas of blood and gore, The zombies ate your friends, and they’re looking for more. Poetry - Sullivan - 03-03-2010 Not bad! I write poems sometimes. The Puppeteer You test my wits with tempting guile Trembling lips and wily smiles Pull a string, I'll walk a mile One more time, I'll die a child Lifting weight and treading tiles Step by step without much style Blood is flowing like the nile Bleeding river filled with bile Test the ground on every aisle Cry once more then seal the vial Throw it out into the pile Makes you wonder - why the trial? Puppeteer then stack my file It'll gather dust awhile Dump the puppets on an isle Anything to see you smile Maybe you can stay awhile? Then pull a string for one more mile Then I'll rest upon that isle and you can gather up my vials Filled with tears from all your trials Puppeteer - is that your style? Poetry - Vad - 04-29-2010 Thread already existed. Might as well save space. I enjoy poetic statements that make it seem like the person talking is a protector. I tend to write these at weak moments in my day where my emotions can leak through. One was written while driving, one while talking to someone, and one in the last few minutes... Quote:Life cut you down and left you to suffer. I picked you up and aided you back to health. Take your sword and your shield and fight your way to the top. With me by your side nothing is impossible. Quote:You are safe with me. Let me hold you in my arms and keep you warm. I'll shield you from life's cruel jokes. Quote:Ye who bears arms against you shall not be safe. I shall shield you from the volley of arrows that life launches at you. May your battles be easier. Poetry - Psyren - 04-29-2010 This Is a song I have been working on for a few days. Let's All Watch Progress Burn Dusty roads and long forgotten trails that time has simply forgot. Tales left untold and songs left unsung could this be where we started from? A simply hello to a tragic goodbye , one more good tear and a thousand more cry's. Building our bridges simply to burn and stacking our buildings to high. We watch our world crumble without a regret we salute as we all watch it die.- Song in progress Poetry - Victoria - 04-29-2010 I like those poems, Vad, they remind me of fantasy and knights. They're actually kind of like quotes. Poetry - Vad - 04-29-2010 On a roll tonight. Quote:When those around you push to harm you I'll be there. When you need help in your moment of greatest need I'll be there. I got your back. Just push forward and keep your head held high. Poetry - Vad - 05-05-2010 Quote:Never touch the seed of deceit spread by those who wish you harm. In the truth lies the path to happiness and only those who spread it's aura may you seek refuge with. Never forget those who have guided you. Poetry - Sigfried Hunin - 05-09-2010 Neptune’s Remorse Not high enough to touch her But she’s always moving me Push and pull in the rising sea I feel the rivers rushing But I also feel it’s not to be So at night, when dolphins play And frigates fight I swing my waves at young sailor men and show Poseidon’s might With the fury of a tribal god Krakens whip, and sharks do gnaw Waves drag children into the gasping maw So fear the foaming, frothing tide Because even as my strength so broad My girth do wide Never shall I have my bride Shimmer brightly down She does shine Dancing reflections amongst the brine And sad I am as she does fall Listen careful, you will hear my killer’s call As the sun does shine again And so do I thrash and throw Little men across the bow and blow Tearing sails and sinking slow So fear my wrath Fear my tides As even as my strength so broad My girth so wide Never shall I have my bride Shimmer softly in my mind For never shall I have you by my side. --- This is a poem about the sea and the moon. Also, love. Poetry - Indigo Towers - 06-25-2010 Sad Stars Suddenly the sad stars were gone, The closing of your eyes. And in it's place an ocean, A torrential wave of emotion. A strike of sadness, of creation. Of what few men will find, And no woman will know. But the one who felt it, Who saw it come to be. Can vouch for its beauty, And say within reason, That it should always be. Be what people know, Be what the sad stars hide. Hide from all but he who knows, That is your secret to share. One that will always chill the air. Just know for the future, Should those stars disappear again, You do not have to hide it. For you will be loved regardless. (And a second one! :O) Unnamed If a kiss could ignite those fires again, And if simply holding you would rush me to love, I would grab you and kiss you, hold you like you held me. The nape of my neck tingling with the broken wall, Your hands touching me, pulling me beyond and above, Above those crumbled walls of guilt and regret, Back to those lips, with no similar refrain. It can’t simply be lost, forgot. No possibility of letting go of that wonder. Wonder laced with a kiss to taboo for whispers to spread. And memory of our bodies in that second long euphoria, Our bodies, for a moment gods, ripping lands asunder, And sending across life’s sky, calamitous thunder. But destruction meaning nothing in the eyes of the man, Seeking your comfort and passion still. Yet with the evanescence of the god like high, And the advent of the devils below, I will not lose grasp of the one blaze I long. Of hope that there is more within broken hearts than memory. And that memory lives to live again. That this is no fool’s errand, but a heartfelt quest. For feelings long past, and for vehemence yet to be known. Hope, that a first kiss, perfect, is not the last. And that something so perfect is not empty… and meaningless. Poetry - Sage - 06-29-2010 Ah, what the hell: Section 249.2
(The Highway Traffic Amendment and Manitoba Public Insurance Corporation Amendment Act) Knuckles whiten, exhaust notes burble, Uncomfortably quiet, hushed voices and engines hum, Anticipation mounting, adrenaline surging, Arms and legs are shaking, fingertips gone numb. Hands drop, clutches pop, tires shriek and scream in protest, Machinated monsters roar and growl and hiss, Rubber grips and claws at pavement, needles swing right, Trepidation discarded, substituted, incoherent bliss. Clutch is kicked, upshift, tires howl once again, Building furious crescendos, mechanical art, An eight-cylinder Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Pinpricks of light bound ahead, a four-wheeled dart, A lack of alternative venues lamentable, Improvisation inevitable, Cross the line, sense of victory bracing, (Dangerous operation while street racing). Poetry - Aecor - 11-15-2010 Not to grand for mine, though I enjoy it. Love all of yours, so I decided to add one of mine. Here it goes. ----- That Beast of Betrayal
On the last day of that Frigid winter The coldest day of my life Which placed itself in the mid of harvest That cold day when the only part of you that Would be perceived by any was the fleeting Shadow that connected to your feet Only loss was able to take last sense away Fore once my heart was shattered, So too did the bones in my body You held my key, yet you locked me away The Beast that took my shape was only the one of scorn The screams that issued forth from that damp corpse That you so recklessly left were of pain not betrayal For how else would the Monster burst forth From my flesh and take form The lives that these hands had taken could have been staved If only, if only you had stayed For even had they managed to flee, More yet would have fallen This feral hair that covers this body Is but a response to your betrayal These gruesome teeth that have feast on Many a heart are because you stole mine All the souls lost to the Creature could Never fill the void you ripped in mine For this Beast is just a mirror of What you have done and become I now live as the Animal you made yourself to be, Yet this life may be unwrought by the silver with which you feast Fore truly ones love must be extinguished by true loves cold kiss |
