Where do your moves come from? - Mal Nova - 04-18-2010

I've been meaning to make this thread for a while....

What is your MUSE? Feel like sharing? THen here you go...

Distortion- I was working and saw Mountain Dew Had 3 new flavors you are to vote on. Distortion Taste the BEST IMHO. But I saw the name and the IDEA for it hit me.

Obviously, the naming scheme I'm currently using is credited to Kaden.

Pop was your basic ki beam. I had to decide what I wanted to call it, and the lighthearted word "Pop" just seemed to work. It's a verb that could be used for melee encounters that I've never much used, so I figured that naming my ki blast would allow me to use it more often. It has.

Block and See were from before, and they spawned from me trying to find creative ways to use Possession. You don't always want to fully possess someone (as a matter of fact, fully possessing someone is something I have yet to do).

Ghost came from my desire to do more with Foresight than I have. Previously, it's been a commodity, just there. No Custom Techs formed out of it, or anything. And Ghost is just the first. I've got an idea for another, really cool tech that I hope won't go too far, lol. Teaser? It's called Intercept, though that's still tentative.

Well Kaden helped me with all my static moves, I told him that I wanted moves that worked on static, so he just...made them lol.

Since I like shows like CSI and criminal shows I made vic a kind of gun fighter, so it made sense to have her use her hands like guns. From that I decided to make some moves that go with it, so I made electric bomb and zapper.

I've been watching a lot of naruto and i loved the electricity moves they have, so thats where i got chidori and chidori current.

..I stole Vegeta's moves?

..Oh, and I like fallout. So I made a ability where the world appears slower, so that I could take more time to respond to actions.

Mine are based off metal based terms and sword based combat. Hailstorm is designed after a fragmentation grenade as well.

I just wanted to say that I thought VATS was really cool. I might have to use an adapted version of it sometime in combination with my Foresight and my Ghost Custom Tech.

Not to boast, but it is by far my favorite ability. I really liked the idea behind it, and I was very appreciative that it was approved. I use it all the time, or would, if I fought more. XD.

Most of mine are stolen from Android Seventeen, and all of his moves had very basic names like "Ki this" or "Ki that." The non-Seventeen moves are essentially named for what they do, I suppose. Nothing really complex there.

Mine generally come from my brain.

I'm sure there's an analogue to Annihilation Strike somewhere in anime/comics, but I wasn't aware of any when I made it.

Feral Aura and Awareness are mainly setups for anime-style combats.

It's a staple of animes for the enemy to kind of 'freeze up' when the hero gets super pissed and starts radiating 'killing intent,' so that's where Feral Aura comes from.

Awareness is the shoujo fighting stuff of someone getting better and learning while they fight.

edit: So I guess my moves do come from somewhere, but they're less copies of actual moves than enablers of a stylistic combat.

I got mine from Pokemon. <.<;;

Where do your moves come from? - Kaden - 04-19-2010

Most of my moves I come up with when I'm thinking about situations I want Kaden to be thrown into. Basically they're all just plot devices for stuff I either have planned or was going to use but probably forgot about. The only thing I consciously took a move from was Neji from Naruto (haven't actually purchased that Custom yet, but I priced it).

I don't think I've ever really had a problem coming up with moves for characters. Once I know how I want them to fight, it all just kind of rolls together. Most of it probably comes from having watched too much anime over the years. 90% of the stuff I've come up with I probably saw in some anime at some point. Y'know how it is.

EDIT: Yeah, helping Victoria come up with moves was fun. She fights much differently from Kaden, so it was a nice change of pace. I'm very willing to help out anyone who wants it, also.

Your sight moves remind me of byakugan, from naruto. It's a really cool character design, thats for sure.

Where do your moves come from? - Kaden - 04-19-2010

Yeah, Mal pointed that out, too. Honestly, I completely forgot about Byakugan until he said that. Yeah, it's basically the exact same thing.

Totally forgot about, when I was writing the above post, but Lock was actually inspired by Kingdom Hearts. Specifically, the scene where the main good guy (forgot the names) turns the keyblade on himself and unlocks his... self? I don't remember exactly what happened there, but I remember thinking "man, it would be cool to, like, lock people on Chubbs." And so I did.

After that I just came up with stuff that built on the idea of someone who augments/subverts ki.

I have to say, those 'Combination Custom Techs' are wicked, Kaden. When Juno gets friends good enough to do that, I am definitely making some of my own.

Where do your moves come from? - Kaden - 04-19-2010

XD

Yeah, they should be a blast to actually RP.

Where do your moves come from? - Belle Hibiki - 04-19-2010

I think Kaden and I came up with the idea of them during Shadow Play after the invention of the Biki Rocket.

Kaden was all like "just like Chrono Trigger that would be wicked awesome" and I was all "Hell yeah."

Where do your moves come from? - Kaden - 04-19-2010

That was the first time I ever thought about "Dual Techs," yeah.

Where do your moves come from? - Ashe - 04-19-2010

What moves?

Where do your moves come from? - Kaden - 04-19-2010

One of these days, Ashe. One of the days.

EDIT: You must have thought of some moves you want Ashe to have eventually.

Where do your moves come from? - Sage - 04-19-2010

My head. Mostly. Not entirely sure. I might have stolen them in part or in whole from somewhere, maybe.
