I looked through the thread, Mal, and you are correct in that there was never any indication of a signup limit, neither through explicitly stating a maximum number of participants nor by making 16 spaces for signups in advance as opposed to adding a new line per signup. We had discussed beforehand and 16 participants felt like the appropriate number in order to allow for even brackets (the next allowable scaling would have to go to 32 people) and apparently overlooked actually stating as much in the post.
I apologize for any inconvenience that may cause anyone and appreciate it being pointed out. Hopefully we'll be clearer in the future to avoid such miscommunications. It is planned to have more events such as this, on a similar scale, so don't worry that you may have missed something like a Dante's Abyss, because that is not the intention.
