Mafia III - Day Two - Super Buu - 03-23-2011 That night, the townspeople went to bed with high morale. Day one, and they'd already lynched the Godfather! But it wasn't to last. The next morning they awoke to find themselves missing one. Lying face-down on the floor of his house was Waffuru, with one of his own medical needles pinning a note to his back: "REVENGE." A shiver ran through the townspeople. Who was next? 1 Sigfried Hunin 2 Leo 3 Dr. Cringle 4 Shou 5 John Doe, Mafia (Godfather) 6 Whompt 7 Sophia 8 Piper Juunanagou 9 Jarka 10 Rem-13 11 Waffuru, Townsperson (Doctor) 12 Jonathan Meer 13 Kaden 14 Celena 15 Kami 16 Metal Teemer 17 Rafael 18 Ashe You have 24 hours from this post until the day phase ends. Spend your time wisely. AND REMEMBA: IF YOU DEAD, DON'T POST INNA THREAD Mafia III - Day Two - Sigfried Hunin - 03-23-2011 Hey guys! So I investigated Waff last night! Turns out he was the Doctor! ![]() I'll be dead by the morning. Mafia III - Day Two - Piper Juunanagou - 03-23-2011 SUMBISHES Mafia III - Day Two - Jonathan Meer - 03-23-2011 So what do we know? Somehow, we (townspeople) have the power to kill without a majority. That's potentially a huge plus. I can't tell if it's a feature of the game itself (that the no-lynch only overrides a lynch vote if it reaches a majority), or if a person among us has the power to cap a lynch. As long as that person isn't unlucky, or an idiot, we've got a damn good shot at this (probably too good, but hey, en't complainin). What we don't know: How many mafia there are. Properly speaking, there MUST be 4; 5 is really too high for 18 people, 3 is simply too low. 4 - 1 = 3. We can't assume that's the case (Rose may be throwing a curveball, and the balance I'm referring to, of course, assumes the power roles are equally balanced; considering day one, and considering we already lost a doc, we may have quite a few power roles, and may need to be concerned about 5 - 1 = 4 mafia). Of course, none of that really matters jack shit. The game ends when it ends, and we won't know how many there are until that point. Unless Rose slips, or some power role has the ability to know that, or whatever. Unfortunately, we also don't really have any clues from the last day (unless someone picked up on something I missed). It was pretty straightforward; Waff led a charge against Doe. The mafia, in retaliation, killed waff. There's nothing out-of-the-ordinary here. YET. I'd say we should start pressuring. Losing one from each side benefits the majority; we have a bit more breathing room than we did in the first day. And, with the pressure, some tidbit may fall loose that, in conjunction with the previous day, leads to some well-grounded suspicion. IN CONCLUSION, I vote to pressure Rem, for calling a vote against Teemer, following the vote for Doe. And to enact that pressure: Lynch Rem-13 (DEFINITION OF PRESSURE: build-up of non-majority lynch votes to force a person to account for themselves. If they slip, the mechanisms are in place for a speedy lynching. If their account is reasonable, then we can lax off the lynch votes without issue. Of course, the fuck-weirdness of getting a kill on 3/18 votes might murk this up a bit, but as of now it's our only real resource. In other words, as before, don't be idiots while I'm asleep) Mafia III - Day Two - Jarka - 03-23-2011 Uh... lynch... lynch Rem-13. What Meer said. Mafia III - Day Two - Super Buu - 03-23-2011 Just for the record, I'll confirm that voting 'no lynch' and not voting have the same effect, gameplay-wise. So basically it is just a declaration of intent in this game. Mafia III - Day Two - Piper Juunanagou - 03-23-2011 Lynch REM 13 Why you gots to be killing, Waff, manj? Mafia III - Day Two - Kaden - 03-23-2011 I'm not mafia. Rose Wrote:You have 24 hours from this post until the day phase ends. Spend your time wisely. Can we get a clarification of a basic gameplay mechanic? I don't even care about powers or abilities or anything like that. Does the person with the highest number of votes die at the end of a day? I get not wanting to tell us about someone's power, and I'm not, at all, fishing for that kind of information. I just want to know how to play the game I'm in. Mafia III - Day Two - Blue - 03-23-2011 I honestly think that instead of a non-majority lynching, there's some sort of role that can force a lynch. Probably only once. Myself, I might have picked up a few clues from day 1. Nothing definitive just yet, but enough to start working on suspects. Here's what I have, kind of: Sig is either the sheriff as he says, or a Mafia member in a game where we either have no sheriff, or the sheriff is remaining quiet in order to gather more info. It's kind of suspicious for someone to announce what they are on day 1, especially when there's no pressure on them whatsoever. Jon is also a bit suspicious, but in more of a gut feeling kind of way. And I have mixed feelings about the rest of you lot. Maybe I'll start to get a better feel by the end of the Day. Mafia III - Day Two - Kaden - 03-23-2011 I'm not mafia. Whompt Wrote:I honestly think that instead of a non-majority lynching, there's some sort of role that can force a lynch. Probably only once. Would be my assumption, but I, for example, jokingly voted to lynch Kami who had jokingly voted to lynch Jarka. I did so because one vote didn't make a difference at the time, but if the rule is "highest votes gets lynched" then that's the last time I jokingly throw out a vote. All I'm looking for is an answer to the following question: Is the basic rule "highest votes at the end of the day gets lynched" or is the basic rule "whoever has the majority at the end of the day gets lynched"? Mafia III - Day Two - Sigfried Hunin - 03-23-2011 I would assume a special role killed JD. Lynch rem13 Mafia III - Day Two - Kaden - 03-23-2011 I'm not mafia. In other words, as before, don't be idiots while I'm asleep) Pressure, in this case, goes far beyond just a build-up of votes. Assuming it was a role that killed Doe, and that's not just how the game works (which is still a serious assumption until Rose answers my question, if he does) then we have to assume they can lynch anyone who's gotten a vote and that they can do it as many times, over the course of the game, that they want. REM's vote is suspicious to me only in that he made it clear that the "throw up a vote and see if it starts shit" tactic is one that he absolutely does not agree with. Mafia III - Day Two - Jonathan Meer - 03-23-2011 This 'I'm not Mafia' shit is becoming really persuasive. Nice use of human psychology, bro I second Mario's question. @Whompt: The most vocal and least vocal players are always the most suspicious. Mafia III - Day Two - Rafael - 03-23-2011 My guess for the lynch was the someone was the Vigilante or whatever. I remember someone dying last game having a "one-shot derringer" or something like that, so now they'd just be a townie Mafia III - Day Two - Kami - 03-23-2011 They killed the doctor! Those bastards! Mafia III - Day Two - Kole T. Merr - 03-23-2011 As a townsperson, I'm a little suspicious of Sigfried. In a game where the sheriff can help so much, why would you paint such a huge target on yourself on the first day by announcing your sheriffness. Mafia III - Day Two - Sigfried Hunin - 03-23-2011 Cause I FIGURED the Doctor would survive longer than ONE DAY!! Ballsssssss Mafia III - Day Two - Rem-13 - 03-23-2011 All I gots to say is, what are the odds me and Joe are Mafia at the same time twice in a row. Lets not lynch me. Also Lynch Meer, because lynching me is preeeety suspicious and I hold grudges. Other than that there's no reason, so I don't recommend to following me in that yet. I lynched Teemer to shit stir, then I UNlynched him you recall, and nobuddy followed suit. Besides why would Mafia risk a counter lynch at that stage when no-lynch was in the bag and seemed pretty unshakable. Mafia III - Day Two - Ashe - 03-23-2011 I'm very hesitant to push for a lynch vote, again. For one, I still think our odds of killing an innocent are much higher than killing a mafia member. I don't know if a total shot in the dark is worth losing someone with a power role, like perhaps a second Doctor who could just be keeping quiet to avoid getting shot at while protecting the Sheriff. I can't get enough of a feel yet on the current info to take the risk yet. >.< I think I'd prefer to let the Sheriff investigate a bit more before I commit to a vote just yet. That said, I'm also keeping open to watch for suspicious activity. I kind of agree with the claim that the loudest and quietest are the most suspicious. I also find immediately pushing for aggression in a situation where the odds aren't in our favor to be a bit suspicious. I do think Rem's call could be suspicious, but at the same time a lot of joke votes were put forth and retracted. The loudest of us are completely subjective, so I'm not going to list those, but the quietest of us are those that haven't posted at all. People I don't recall posting (and its entirely possible that I just don't remember them, as I'm not going to go back through the threads, so I'm NOT saying I necessarily suspect these guys so much as I want to make note of them): 1 - Leo 2 - Sophia 3 - Rafael 4 - Shou Also, I think very little has been said from Celena although I can't blame anyone for wanting to stay off the radar and be forgotten about. Again, I'm not calling anyone out, I just want to note those people so we don't just forget they are in the game, in case someone is mafia and simply staying invisible. I'm uneasy about this possible "Assassin" role or whatever, even if it helped us get the Godfather. That's a hilarious fucking achievement, but I don't necessarily like the idea of someone being able to take shots in the dark if the majority rule (and yes, 9+ people - to include the nonvotes - voted not to lynch) prefers otherwise. I am hoping that if we DO have the majority vote to lynch someone, that this Assassin/Vigilante can't just cause us to lynch someone else. I kind of suspect that their power is only considered usable on a target when a No Lynch vote would otherwise take effect, or as someone else mentioned, a one time ability that turns them into a Townsperson afterwards, leaving them useless now. Sigfried, out of curiosity, why did you investigate Waffuru, who I didn't really find that suspicious given his normal antics, instead of John Doe, who had been mafia before and was who people were most suspicious of? I'm not calling it a bad move, because its entirely possible that you were actually LOOKING for the Doctor to get them to protect you (though announcing yourself was a way of doing that, imo), but its just confusing to me. He was number ten on your list of investigations, where you had Cringle at the top, and when you were asked by Kaden to investigate John Doe, you said that was who you would (though in this case it wouldn't have mattered). I also think you announcing yourself on day one as a Sheriff and gathering trust is a bit suspicious, but I haven't decided yet. The only results you've given so far are those of someone we have the official ruling on, so I don't even know if I believe you are the Sheriff, at this point. I'm a bit surprised that they went after Waff rather than you, to be honest, given that they should have thought you the threat, but at the same time, the guy you investigated is the guy who caused their Godfather to be lynched. As a curious note, is it possible that the mafia themselves killed their Godfather as some kind of power play to stir the pot? Or are they not allowed to kill their own members? If the mafia does have the ability to kill their own members, then that definitely changes a few variables to keep in mind. Mafia III - Day Two - Kole T. Merr - 03-23-2011 As a townsperson, I did actually take note of who was posting not very much. Shou, Celena, and Rafael posted once each, for no lynch, not really saying much else. Leo chimed in just to say he was reading everything. And Sophia has said nothing (maybe she's the town Helen Keller?). |
