My laptop screen is dirty. How can I clean this without damaging anything? I assume soap and water are unwise.

Depending on your screen either LCD wipes or just plain water and a paper towel and then dry with a paper towel

Soft cloth with water is probably alright.

Rubbing alcohol might be better.

Depending on the level of filth, just a soft cloth can do wonders. For anything stuck on, spray either water or window cleaner into the cloth then wipe the screen until it comes clean. Keep a portion of the cloth dry to remove any excess moisture.

Bodily fluids.

EDIT: General scuzz; eating ramen noodles and having some of the shit splash onto the screen, sneezing, that sort of thing.

EDIT2: I've heard bad things about alcohol on an LCD screen.

Throw acid on it. Melts away all those nasty fluids.

Dirty Laptop Screen - Nori - 05-08-2011

..That's more disgusting then the bodily fluids. =o

You are fine to wipe the screen, just don't spray directly onto the screen itself.

or

For a computer screen, a quick dusting with a clean soft dry cloth will remove dust particles. If the screen is dirty, use either a commercial cleaner made for your screen type, or an ammonia free glass cleaner, or isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) mixed with water.

i like using alcohol pads, like the kind diabetics use to clean injection areas. Real cheap from the drug store, couple bucks and the box will last a while. Also, really good for deep face cleaning too. Sure, it stings for a few minutes but your skin will be grease free. Smile
