I literally can't remember shit about the second film, other than Soundwave was in it, and Optimus Prime does fusion ha with the old dude, and they were in a desert for a while, and robot heaven. Still gonna go see the third. Just gotta know what you're in for. Also, drink more.

All I remember about the second movie is 1) retarded old bot and the stupid, stupid ass jokes around him 2) the insane number of new bots that are never properly introduced, and 3) the horrifyingly racist caricatures of Skids and Mudflap.
I know some people try to argue that Skids and Mud were actually a mockery of wiggers, but I saw no evidence of that. I had the misfortune of seeing the movie multiple times around its release, and believe me, on the second viewing I was desperately trying to find a reason to like them. Maybe Bay was using them (Skids and Mud) as commentary. Maybe there was some sort of subversion of the apparent stereotype that I wasn't seeing. Maybe the whole "uh, we not really big on reading" thing wasn't exactly what it sounded like.
You know, an interesting subversion would've been to keep the racist looks, but keep them pretty intelligent, maybe even slightly exasperated at the look that they've adopted. They scanned earlier media in Earth's culture, maybe, and without context took the shape that they're now stuck in, not realizing how silly it might look. Or maybe you could make one very intellectual, and make the other emotive. The audience's attention is then drawn to the contrast between the two, rather than what they look like.
Hell, even if they hadn't done any of that, I could've maybe forgiven it if these were strictly background characters that you see once or twice - off-color bad taste jokes and nothing more. But no; I guess it's better to cram an offensive stereotype in there and SHOVE IT IN THE AUDIENCE'S FACE FOR TWO HOURS. It's like Jar Jar Binks, only there are two of them.
UGH. God, I hate that movie.

I actually didnt have a problem with Skids and mudflap...a few of my black buddies thought they were hillarious they were compared to ignorant people instead of just being black sterotypes.
And no fear for you skids and muflap haters michael bay confirmed months ago that Skids and Mudflap would NOT be in this movie.

'Hood' folks, be they black or white, 'niggas' or 'wiggas', are easy to laugh at, and laughing at their antics does not make you racist, I don't care what anyone says. That's really a whole 'nother debate, but what they're laughing at is a demographic, not a race. Not all black people act like that. I'd actually say calling them black stereotypes is itself a racist interpretation (I really had to try hard to not say 'coloured interpretation').
Now, I'm not trying to defend the movie as good, but I can't help but think people who took 'offense' to that are just looking for another way to say the movie was shitty. Shitty, ok. Racist? Now you're just being self-righteous.

Just saw it and man am I ever glad that they seem to have realized that trying to do a complicated plot just isn't Bay's style. The more involved he tries to make it the more retarded it ends up being.
Echoing Rose's sentiment there. Also fanservice on the girl = <3 . How many times did she end up changing her clothes again?
e: oh yes I'll get all uppity about perceived racism in Transformers 2 but I don't have a problem at all with sexy girls selling their bodies on the screen as basically their only feature.

On the topic of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, all I will say is DAT ASS.
I thought the plot was just better than the others, in general. It felt more like actual character motivations and moral dilemmas as opposed to simply "a chain of events giving us reasons to blow shit up."

One thing kind of bugs me about the fight scenes with the humans, though.
It's been, what, like 5+ years since the Autobots and Decepticons have come to Earth, right? And we're still using standard weaponry to deal with these assholes? Do the Autobots not want to share their technology or something?
I actually think that was a point brought up in the second movie, and iirc Prime went on some speech about how humanity would just misuse it (weapons technology). But ... considering how the stupid Autobots and Decepticons brought their war to our planet, withholding the means for humanity to effectively defend itself seems like kind of a dick move.
The humans in this movie actually seem to be less effective than they were in the first one. Poor guys.

I was more like "man, they are a super advanced race but they get surprised by guys attacking from above? And none of those humans get killed in the attempt? Don't they have like, detectors or some shit?" For the name 'Decepticons' they sure aren't that smart. It's filled with a lot of those "just kill him" moments, like the obvious Starscream bit, or where Laserbeak seems to be attacking Sam for the longest time without just fucking goring him or just like, dragging him off to get dropped on hard concrete like he did to the other guy. I would say the world was saved by the sheer ineptitude of the Decepticons.

Mudflap and Skids, the idea came from the generation 1 brothers Sunstreaker and Sideswipe. They were 'protoform' brothers. Skids was the name of an indy car type before in a cartoon and I want to say theres a Mudflap that was a roofless 4x4 truck in one of the cartoons as well. They weren't originally brothers. UNless you go looking at comics. All the director did was his best way to make them childish and a young.
Optimus fused with Jet Fire in the series where they started doing fusions, Jet Fire wasn't old and never died when they fused.
Arcee was two bike robots in the part two movie. But in the animated movie and such she was more like a single pink female hover car.

I fucking loved the movie. I liked the first two, but I think this one was definitely the best of the three. MAJOR development for all involved.
Although, I had a few wtf moments throughout. Although the chick was pretty hot, I felt like she was nothing but a damn potential meat shield and distraction for the entirety of the movie. Like, "Come on, Shia, quit thinking with your dick. There's millions of people dying and you're going to go after this dumb bitch who walked out on you, and not only walked out, she savagely tore off the leg of your stuffed bunny and threw it at you?" I mean, at least Megan Fox was totally down and involved majorly with the first two invasions, she didn't just stand there twiddling her god damn toe thumbs, she got in there and got shit done. This chick just was there. At the sake of sounding like a raging feminist, she just did the stereotypical damsel in distress bullshit and didn't do anything to help. The only thing I can really give her credit for is the line at the end where she told Megatron that he was nothing but Sentinel's bitch. I liked that line, but other than that, and being sexy eye candy, I didn't really much care for the character.
Overall, loved the movie. The graphics were hardcore and didn't seem to be there just to be there, but integrated itself as a real part of the story and gave it true meaning other than just being flashy.
And, OMG FIGHT SCENES were amazing!
EDIT: I think some kind of civilian casualty meter should be involved, because this definitely had asstons of carnage in it.
