Card games on motorcycles! - Nori - 07-03-2011 So I've been building a Yu-G-Oh deck for my little sister, which she will be receiving on my upcoming birthday. I doubt anyone on this forum plays the game, but if so, I'd like some tips on the deck I was building for her. Card games on motorcycles! - John Doe - 07-03-2011 I used to play Yu-Gi-Oh many moons ago. I'm certain that there's been so many new cards and strats that anything I know is useless knowledge. Card games on motorcycles! - Nori - 07-03-2011 She's looking at this so far.. Monster 24 Chaos Sorcerer Super-Nimble Mega Hamster Plaguespreader Doppelwarrior x2 Lonefire Blossom x2 Dandylion Spore Glow-Up Bulb Effect Veiler x2 Sangan Card Trooper x2 Debris Dragon x2 Junk Synchron x3 Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter x3 Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress Spell 14 Tuning Allure of Darkness Pot of Avarice x2 Foolish Burial Monster Reborn Mind Control One for One Charge of the Light Brigade Dark Hole Mystical Space Typhoon x2 Giant Trunade Reinforcement of the Army Trap 4 Solemn Judgement Royal Decree x3 Total: 42 Extra Deck Formula Synchron x2 Armory Arm Frozen Fitzgerald Trishula x2 Colossal Fighter Brionic Stardust Dragon Shooting Star Dragon Black Rose Dragon Scrap Dragon Ancient Fairy Dragon Ally of Justice Catasor Junk Warrior Basically the point is to pump out synchro monsters for their effects, and make more synchro monsters on top of the synchro monster that was just synchroed. It's a very fast deck. Card games on motorcycles! - Kaden - 07-03-2011 While I don't really follow the Yu Gi Oh game (I played some of the DS version of 5Ds... does that count?) the idea of Synchro monsters always struck me as really odd. They're trying to reward a player for putting themselves at a card disadvantage. A synchro monster requires a minimum of two cards to create one. Lets say you drop some sweet Synchro using three monsters to churn out some big bomb. Your opponent then flips over a single spell/trap/flip-monster and kills it. They just used one card to sack four of yours (the tuner, the other two, and the synchro). Its actually more appropriate to say they used one "effect" to sack four of your cards, since if it was a monster's flip-effect, then they still have a monster on the board. How does this relate to your deck? If you don't really care about the competitiveness of a deck, then it doesn't. If you're trying to make something that can hold its own in a competitive setting, though, you'd want to look at using cards that are similarly effective without creating disadvantages for yourself. Card advantage wins games. Card games on motorcycles! - Nori - 07-03-2011 Yeah, on forums there is a big +1, -1 card advantage for the game. Cards like formula, however, make synchro a +1, as does milling your cards to the grave (which this deck does). For instance. Foolish Burial + Dandy + Debris Dragon. First draw you draw foolish, which allows you to search your deck and send a monster to the grave. When dandy is sent to the grave you get two level 1 tokens. Now you use your summon to play debris, which can grab a level 4 or lower from the grave and put it on the field (can't make level 8 synchro, nor can the monster use it's effect.) With the two tokens and a dandy, plus the debris, you can make a trish. You summon that with either good timing or a royal decree (makes it so no traps can be played). This gives you a trish, as well as two more dandy tokens (as the effect goes in the graveyard, not from the field). When Trish comes on the field it removes one card on the field from play, one from the hand, and one from the grave. Then your left with two tokens as well which could be manipulated with graveyard monsters (Plague, a level 2 tuner that can bring himself back once would make a armory arm with the tokens, or you could bring back glow by milling a card for a formula, which would draw one card. Or a spore with a lonefire in the grave for a level 3 spore which could then make a 4 or 5. Foolish -1 Dandy -1 Tokens +2 Debris -1 Trishula +3 That play is a +2. Now if you have the spore, and make a formula, that's another +2. That's without attacking, as well. Basically the whole point was that for a synchro to be effective you have to build a deck around it. Combo and stuff. While all decks HAVE synchro monsters, it's crazy when they are used in decks that are made to use them. This is also just from my perspective. XD Card games on motorcycles! - John Doe - 07-03-2011 I stopped playing Yugioh right around when synchro monsters were introduced. However, I looked up all the monster effects as well as the spell cards I wasn't familiar with. From my limited knowledge, it's a pretty solid deck. I would remove two spell cards (one being Tuning, the other I don't know) to keep it at 40 as well as giving you an even better monster:non-monster ratio. A lot of your deck focuses on getting your monster cards to the grave so you can summon them, then summon your synchros right? Well, the more monster cards you have, the more likely they'll be sent to the grave through effects like your Lightsworn or Card Trooper monsters. Other than that, I think it's a pretty beast deck if I'm reading these effects right. Card games on motorcycles! - Tyr - 07-03-2011 Is that what you actually have in hand? It seems much more synchronized than anything I ever bloody managed to put together. fucking token cards. Card games on motorcycles! - Nori - 07-03-2011 XD. I've got those cards. I'm worried about the lack of traps. While Royal Decree is awesome for my personal defense, if I go against someone who has the same strategy as me (spam powerful monsters), I have little to no defense except to one up them. I can't figure out a way to fix that without scraping the royal decree. But then I have a much harder time performing synchro summons safely. I also really want to put in a second chaos sorcerer. However I *cannot* find room for him. My deck has a good light to dark ratio, and his effect is beast. Plus he is easy synchro fodder. Card games on motorcycles! - John Doe - 07-03-2011 Well, you can always make a side deck to add traps and the like. I honestly have no idea how you'd switch it up, though, considering I have little to no knowledge of like, the last three years of Yugioh cards. I don't think your deck needs another Chaos Sorcerer. It's a good monster, but you don't want to remove all your monsters from play when your deck centers around it. One is good enough, giving you a nice effect and perhaps fodder to summon one of the bigger synchros you have stashed away. Card games on motorcycles! - Kaden - 07-04-2011 Nori Wrote:For instance. Foolish Burial + Dandy + Debris Dragon. If you're relying on three-card combos to win the game (really it should be considered a four-card combo, since not using Royal Decree can cost you your win condition) you have to be running minimum numbers. Even then, I'd say it's a very fragile combo you're trying to win with. Card games on motorcycles! - Kole T. Merr - 07-04-2011 It's like Exodia-style. Man was that a pain in the ass, but if you ever won that way, it was so hilarious. Even then, I'd say it's a very fragile combo you're trying to win with. That was just one example. One for one + dandy = 2 tokens and a free spore on the field. Summon hamster in face down position. Synchro for a black rose dragon and use it's effect to wipe the field clear as well as gaining a free rkyo on field from hamster's effect. When rkyo is flipped kill any card on the field. Junk Synchron + doppel in the grave = junk warrior synchro. This makes two tokens. Since junk warrior get's the attack of all level 2 or lower monsters on the field junk warrior now has 3100 attack. Just a beatstick, of course, but that's a one monster play. Junk Synchron + Ryko in the grave = frozen fitzgerald who is immune to traps/spells during the battle phase and has 2500 attack. Of course by bringing spore back from the grave, or glow-up bulb, or plague, I can just synchro the synchro while I synchro. These are just examples of what the deck does. Also Chaos Sorcerer as a free summon, remove a opponets monster from play, then synchro it to a stardust (negates spells/traps/monsters effect) is sexy. While chaos cannot attack during the turn he uses the effect, by synchroing to a 8 (could be scrap, who would then destroy a card on the field to destroying a card on my side, or could be colossal who cannot die by battle), i can then attack regardless. I like the deck, but I worry about it's defenses if derailed. Maybe that's the problem though. Should most likely just go 100% offensive and screw defense. A handful of cards aren't going to provide a reliable defense, at which point, you're better served putting in more cards that work to the strengths of the deck. EDIT: Though I maintain you should be running at min if you want it to be at all competitive. Card games on motorcycles! - Nori - 07-04-2011 So prob the 4 traps should stay the same then. Royal Decree's to prevent traps from messing with synchro, as well as judgement to stop fuck everything. I mean, the royal decree is a huge target (mystical space typhoon, seven tools, fuck anything really) but still Card games on motorcycles! - John Doe - 07-04-2011 Can a trap be used to stop a trap that stops traps? Also, I think the deck is pretty offensive as is, besides taking out Tuning and maybe an Avarice Pot. Card games on motorcycles! - Jonathan Meer - 07-04-2011 Seven Tools of the Bandit. Can be chained 'indefinitely' (limited, obv, by the hard-cap of 3 cards). EDIT: I love Yugioh sooo much, totes fun. Haven't been into it for a year or two now, though. So easy to troll. Soon as peeps see the Needle Worm and Morphing Jar, they get all red and shit. I had an Exodia deck that was extremely boring for the other person, and was actually pretty reliable. I used to play Jack (from here) with it sometimes, and he eventually refused to play with me anymore over it, because it was so godawful boring. EDIT2: YVD me. Let's play this shit. http://www.xerocreative.com/?goto=downloads Card games on motorcycles! - Psyren - 07-04-2011 Whoever has an xbox360 in here you can download yugioh 5Ds...Im actually considering downloading it just to get back into yugioh.
