This is primarily meant to be a recommendation thread for good liquor/beer/cigarettes/pipe-tobacco/what-have-you.
For my part, I'm buying my first pack of cigarettes tomorrow (have always just bummed them off people otherwise), and whiskey. I'm thinking Johnnie Walker Black (I've heard nothing but good things about this), but am open to suggestions.

If you tell me how much you want to spend I'll tell you the best whisky you can buy.
Best cheap whisky I think is the Aberlour 12 year. It's a little more than the Johnny Walker Black but it is a single malt instead of a blended scotch and way worth it. Drinks like a $60+ bottle everytime.

Just saying, there will come a day where you think "I was a fucking moron to start smoking." And you'll be right. This coming from someone who has semi-quit smoking (believe me, not starting is considerably easier than stopping). If you're low on money, why the fuck are you STARTING a new addictive habit? Chris I know I'm just starting to flame here, but really, this is like a Mal thread.

Cigs are bad, there's no reason to smoke them. It baffles me when I see people who I know are not smokers, at a party or bar, outside smoking. You don't smoke, but when you're drinking you do...so you're a smoker. Stupid.

That being said I am guilty of the occasional cigar, but that's a slightly different ball game.
If you're drinking your liquor responsibly then you should be looking into investing in the stuff that isn't total shit. If you're doing shots like a jackass and mixing drinks then just buy your handle of Jack and GTFO.
Basil Hayden is a great bourbon, Jameson's Irish Whiskey is quite nice, especially once you get a little into the older stuff. I think most Irish Whiskey is good, and you can always a take a whiskey that might be a little sub par and have it on the rocks. The ice helps make it colder, which reduces the amount of heat (the burn you feel when you drink it) that you're going to experience.

I've been 'smoking' for about a year-and-a-half now. I have roughly a pipe-bowl of tobacco every two weeks or so, and maybe one cigarette a month.
It's not a matter of being classy or cool or hipster. It's a matter of coming in touch with my mortality, coupled with the lovely, lovely feel of the nicotine. Whenever I smoke, I'm reading or writing.
I appreciate the concerns and all, but I'm aware of the risks, and don't plan to smoke any more than I currently do (which is minimal at best). I also don't plan to smoke any less than I currently do.

Another awesome way I suggest for my friends to save money is to learn to play Magic and LoL.
EDIT: That said, I'd throw out a "Don't smoke, its stupid" comment but I don't expect to do more than waste my time with it. I think I don't mind people smoking the occasional cigar due to the fact that a lot of people keep it very occasional. It also, judging by the smells, seems they'd have a bit more point to them. Surprisingly, over the years I've come to a stance that I have less of an issue with weed than cigarettes, partially because there is just more of a point to it. (I've done neither, so its just an objective stance.) What annoys me about cigarettes is that due to their wide acceptance, availability, and mobility, it practically encourages people to do it more often than other things.
An example brought up earlier was the person who "doesn't smoke" but "only" does whenever they are drinking. They also like to go to the bar once or twice a week for "social time" and want to know who's hosting the party each weekend. Its kinda like a stance of "I'm not gay, I just suck dicks a few times a week". Then again, I have a personal issue where if I see a girl that I think is hot start smoking, she doesn't move to "smoking hot" but "a wild Wheezing appears!"
Anyway, a lot of people like to convince themselves that "Its k, I'll just do it occasionally, like when my friends are outside and I want to hang out with them, or when I'm drinking". At the gaming shops I hung out at, people rode that excuse a lot. They also got to the point where they were interrupting my games to pry my friends to go outside to smoke with them but they weren't developing a habit by any means. They can stop whenever they want to, so get off their back about it. Ok, then stop. I don't want to.

Yep. You are only going to buy a few cards to get a deck together and you are done. Except that other deck someone played is cool too. And that one. And I kinda want to do a few booster drafts. There's also a really cool Commander thing that just came out. Oh, the pre-release is coming out too. I need to get ready for that Pro Tour Qualifier coming up so I need to hit Ebay to get some of those expensive cards I need for that deck.
I just want that couple of cool skins for some characters I regularly play. Ok, that Fiddle Me Timbers skin is fucking hot. Holy shit, that Gentleman Cho'gath. I keep making exceptions for this and that for this reason but its totally worth it. RIOT, TAKE ALL THE MONIES.
