Warhammer 40K: DoW II, anyone played? - Rafael - 07-19-2011 Looks sweet, reviews are good, and I need a new game with some RPG in it. Anyone have thoughts on this game? Warhammer 40K: DoW II, anyone played? - Kaden - 07-20-2011 I was really disappointed with it. Played a ton of DoW 1 and the expansions, and really loved it. Then DoW2 came out and it was COMPLETELY different. Nothing at all like DoW other than the camera angle. EDIT: So... that probably wasn't helpful. Sorry. Warhammer 40K: DoW II, anyone played? - Sigfried Hunin - 07-20-2011 So I totally made this a thread a while back. I love the fuck out of DoW II and all of the expansions. They are full of awesome and WAAAGH!!! Warhammer 40K: DoW II, anyone played? - Orion - 07-20-2011 It's different. It's basically taking the "Hero" units (for lack of a better term) from the first game and just giving them to you to use. I don't mind it; it's definitely fun, and I played through the entirety of DoWII, but I haven't had the urge to play the Chaos Rising or whatever expansion yet. I miss the old RTS games like Starcraft where you have buildings and resources. Warhammer 40K: DoW II, anyone played? - Rafael - 07-20-2011 Aren't most RTS games base-building with resources, etc? Anyway, finding this to be pretty fun so far, though I wish I had a beefier 4th squad. Not really a fan of the jetpack guys but the stealth groups seems pretty useless so I'm stuck with them. Pretty much my strat has been to dump tons of points into survivability on everyone and then just outlast, which has worked for so far. My Force Commander is a completely unstoppable, it not exactly high-damage, force of infinite unkillability, so occasionally I'll move the other squads back and send him in alone, go take a break for a few, and when I come back activate the energy shield accessory I've got and he'll heal back to full before it breaks usually. It's hilarious Warhammer 40K: DoW II, anyone played? - Super Buu - 07-20-2011 I never actually played the Single Player, I don't know why, but I have it if anyone wants to play multiplayer on Steam. Eldar 4 lyfe Warhammer 40K: DoW II, anyone played? - Tyr - 07-20-2011 can u teach me the way of multiplayer plz? I've always been interested in learning but I rather dropped the ball on that one and now I'm blowing in it. Warhammer 40K: DoW II, anyone played? - Super Buu - 07-20-2011 I'd love to play with other Chubbsians, but I am no pro myself. I haven't had a chance to play in months. When I do play multiplayer RTS though, it's the one I play. Taking away base-building and focusing purely on units (along with individual squad upgrades as opposed to just 'teching') are all things I prefer to Starcraft-style. It's also built with team battles in mind, which is what I almost always prefer to play. Warhammer 40K: DoW II, anyone played? - Tyr - 07-20-2011 I always thought base building was the least interesting part of any RTS. I love StarCraft 2 for the amazing micro maneuvers you can pull off, not because he hid some buildings somewhere. DoW2 plays on that, but I just never got into it. Warhammer 40K: DoW II, anyone played? - Sigfried Hunin - 07-20-2011 I love that DOW is about like, actual TACTICS and MANEUVERING YOUR FUCKING UNITS. You don't build fuckin buildings or shit, you take your guys and you fight with them controlling points on a map. Which is what makes it a dynamic, tactical game and not just "OMG WHO CAN CLICK FASTER" and shit. I usually rock my Ork army with mostly starting units, a truk, some rokkit boyz and some NOBZ. That's all you fucking need to win, and that's awesome. SM are the same way. Eldar usually need some of their later teir blokes to make it a good game... but meh. I honestly still prefer tabletop though. ELDARRRR (in tabletop.) Warhammer 40K: DoW II, anyone played? - Super Buu - 07-21-2011 I like Eldar because they're more about controlling the map and hit-and-run strikes. Abilities aside, your early units are weak, so you have to make up for it by being smart. I do wanna learn Chaos too though at some point, all-out offense is fun (I tried Ork, but I just took to Chaos much faster). Warhammer 40K: DoW II, anyone played? - Sigfried Hunin - 07-21-2011 kickass lineup for startup chaos: Chaos Lord Heretics (HURR DURR YOU GET THOSE ALREADY, FUCKERS) Chaos marine squad The dev squad... the one with suppression. Whatever the fuck that one is. You just roam around with those fuckers and kill EVERYTHINGGGG Warhammer 40K: DoW II, anyone played? - Super Buu - 07-21-2011 Yeah, Chaos are pretty easy to just up and start kicking ass with. So much destruction. Warhammer 40K: DoW II, anyone played? - Rafael - 07-21-2011 So I take it that means everyone has the expansion where you can use every race? I only have the base game and the first pack so far Warhammer 40K: DoW II, anyone played? - Super Buu - 07-21-2011 I do. Retribution you can actually just buy standalone (they wanted to stop using Games for Windows because it's terrible, and switched to Steam instead). Warhammer 40K: DoW II, anyone played? - Rafael - 07-21-2011 I was wondering about the unusual achievement system I was seeing. Might grab that this weekend Warhammer 40K: DoW II, anyone played? - Sigfried Hunin - 07-27-2011 I just fucking romped with my buddy Jasyn. It was amazing. Warhammer 40K: DoW II, anyone played? - Rafael - 07-27-2011 Finally got the dreadnaught in the campaign today. Holy cow is it retardedly strong. Terminator armor on my FC and that guy=massacre Warhammer 40K: DoW II, anyone played? - Sigfried Hunin - 07-27-2011 "EVEN NOW I SERVE." -the Wraithlord that would stomp any lame old Dread >_> |
