D-D-D-D-DUELLING thread - Super Buu - 08-26-2011 To avoid cluttering up the rage thread with this nonsense spinoff anymore, because duels are fun and I plan on doing more sometime. Set up duels, discuss rules, and so on. With Malz-offs I like to avoid picking spells, items and such moreso to eliminate any divergence so that a win could be put down to anything other than pure skill. Kaden suggested having each person grab a Tear or something so that there's less mana-conservation and it's more about actively using and dodging abilities. Granted, I think Malzahar is ALL about mana conservation to stay in the lane whilst getting creep kills and harassing where you can, so I really liked the pure duels I've had so far without masteries, items or summoner spells. Would definitely like to try it with a mana regen item sometime to see how that changes things, though. My challenge remains open to try against other champions as Malz though, should be interesting even if it's less 'fair'. D-D-D-D-DUELLING thread - Waffuru - 08-26-2011 I can beat you. D-D-D-D-DUELLING thread - Super Buu - 08-26-2011 You talk the talk, Waffuru, but can you walk the walk? D-D-D-D-DUELLING thread - Anzekay - 08-26-2011 Just a mid vs mid like a standard game. Take the spells you would normally take, masteries you would normally take, get the items you feel will help you the most. Probably even better to do it in an in-house game, but ban ganking mid until one player wins the mid battle. But when I'm back home I'll Kog'maw vs you. D-D-D-D-DUELLING thread - Super Buu - 08-26-2011 Ben you be trippin balls if you think you can outmid me with Kog'maw. Trippin. Balls. D-D-D-D-DUELLING thread - Anzekay - 08-26-2011 I'm Kog'maw, you bastard, don't you ever forget. D-D-D-D-DUELLING thread - Super Buu - 08-26-2011 Son, I been playing Malzahar every day of my life. EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE. How can you presume to step? D-D-D-D-DUELLING thread - Jonathan Meer - 08-26-2011 I'll Akali your shit UP D-D-D-D-DUELLING thread - Rafael - 08-26-2011 I'm totally down for all kinds of variations on this with anyone as well, laning is by far my favorite part of the game. D-D-D-D-DUELLING thread - Kaden - 08-26-2011 I'll openly accept any duel. -All champs -Runes/items/masteries all allowed -First to take a tower or get three kills wins D-D-D-D-DUELLING thread - Super Buu - 08-26-2011 I definitely disagree with using runes. D= Well, unless both players have multiple rune pages already. D-D-D-D-DUELLING thread - Ashe - 08-27-2011 I don't. Part of skill with a character is knowing which Mastery and Rune tweaks will make your character situationally stronger than their character. D-D-D-D-DUELLING thread - Anzekay - 08-27-2011 I think Greg's point is that not everyone has been playing long enough to afford rune pages for any given champion they would want to duel on. For instance, I only have a rune page for my junglers, and even then only a full page for one of them. I have no runes for Kog'maw. Whether this is fair or not is subjective, of course. D-D-D-D-DUELLING thread - Super Buu - 08-27-2011 Yeah but runes are collectibles. Some people have lots of runes, others don't. The person with more runes has an advantage before the game even begins. Edit: @Ashe D-D-D-D-DUELLING thread - Kole T. Merr - 08-27-2011 Rose Wrote:Yeah but runes are collectibles. They could have bought runes. If they didn't, it's really their own fault if they are not playing up to full potential. D-D-D-D-DUELLING thread - Ashe - 08-27-2011 I can agree with a "have runes or don't have runes" argument. I wouldn't expect someone to duel Malz with "AttSpeed reds, HP Quints, Armor yellows, CD blues". But I think I'd also be annoyed if they said "I don't want to duel because for Malz I would have to use '9x MPen reds, HP Quints, MP5 Yellows, and AP blues' and I'd rather use AP Quints instead and can't afford them". I guess its a situational thing. "Do the runes I have for this champ make it playable in a Normal or Ranked game, even if they aren't as tuned as I would prefer?" D-D-D-D-DUELLING thread - Anzekay - 08-27-2011 I'd assume that if two people are going to duel, they'd discuss it beforehand and agree on rules. If I was to duel, say, Kaden but I have no runes at all for my mid duel champion, I'd ask if he's ok with neither of us using runes. If he agrees, there we go! If he doesn't, I can either suck it up or just no duel him until I have a rune page for it. It's as simple as that. This isn't particularly fair. When people are choosing between making certain types of champs more competitive or having more champs to play, of course we're all going to make different decisions. To say that it's someone's fault they don't have runes and they should be at a disadvantage in a duel because of that is a bit silly. Like I've just said, obviously rune usage should be decided on by the two players, but to make a sweeping claim that you are just not playing 'properly' if you choose to buy champs over runes is a bit silly IMHO. I didn't say they were playing "wrong". I said that they made a choice, and their choice has consequences. It's the same the other way. If you do nothing but buy runes, you'll never unlock new champions to use them with. EDIT: I do agree that it should be discussed by the duelers beforehand what is and isn't allowed, but justifying that runes shouldn't be allowed because people "haven't gotten them yet" is a bit silly...IMHO. |
