Random Game Concepts - Rem-13 - 09-13-2011

I always think of one, then forget about it, so Ima write this shit down. Plus I'd like to hear others. Maybe if we type hard enough someone will actually make these games or someone has already made it/making it and we can inform each other. So post your concepts, vague or specific.

I want an MMORTS that is linked, maybe through GPS on your phone and google earth or something, to your actual location. You can build a village and a castle and grow and shit, and others near you can either fight over territory or join you and form larger and larger states. Cities would be nuts, and rural areas sparse though, so maybe map size is scaled slightly for population denisty? I don't know. More details as I think about it

This one's vague. I want a Star Trek/-esque sim/rpg game that is more about role-playing as a captain. I want to have to deal with planets and tough decisions and manage a ship.

Chubbs character-based FF Tactics-style game. First thing that popped into my head.
This might steadily grow fairly long through edits as I think about this more.

Stats transfer directly into a number equal to the percentage the character has ( 50% Agi=50 Agility)

Strength: Increases damage of and resistance to physical attacks
Focus: Increases power of and resistance to Ki techniques
Endurance: Multiply times say, ten to get your HP
Agility: Increases your hit and enemy miss chance against you, slight movement range bonuses.

And some abilities, more to come:

Combat Teleport: Essentially doubles move range. You get your move, then one free teleport per turn, possibly able to pay Ki for more.
Regen: Every turn, heals some small amount of health, can pay Ki for more.
Healing: Yep
Foresight: Can be cast on self or ally, and the next attack against them is negated. Free, but with a however many turn cooldown.
Elemental Ki: One basic move from that type in addition to whatever techs the character has because of this ability(Like, everyone with Light gets Solar Flare, etc.)
The one thing where you take less damage and move less: You take 50% less damage, move 50% less, and have an upkeep cost every turn in Ki.
Elastic: Basic attack distance increased by X squares
Psycho: Can be used to move enemies A square or two in any direction + modest damage.
Stealth: Duh
Metal Binding: One turn snare, metally twine stringy things poss with a cooldown.
Ki Spec:One additional Ki tech slot
MS: one additional Physical tech slot
Immaterial: Immune to physical attacks for one turn, one turn of CD after, 50% more Ki damage taken during.
Mimic: Copies one of target's abilities, 4 turn CD
Possession: Gain control of enemy unit for one turn. Heavy Ki Cost, capped at one unit at a time.
Survival:Once per fight Upon taking lethal damage, removes any debuffs and becomes immune to all enemy effects until character's next turn.
Time Stop: Enemy team loses their next turns, your team cannot attack or use abilities until after caster's next turn(allows movement/positioning). 5ish turn CD seems good, moderate Ki cost
Inner Strength: Eh, wtf. Same bonus stats as character in RPG
Dark Ki: All ranged attacks consider character 2 squares further back than he actually is(IE you need to be 2 squares closer than usual to land hits) Kinda eh, but I dunno about scan skills or anything and it sorta fits the harder to track nowness of Dark Ki.

No idea, wtf:
Mediumship

As for the actual Characters, they'd be largely based off the style, skillsets, stats, etc. of their RPG version.

Gonna use Trafford as my example, because he's the first on the roster that's fairly filled out.
4 techs base+Psycho+Ki Spec

Skills:
Psycho
Stunner Smile:Target loses next turn
High Speed Reload Capacity: Adds 3 to movement range when used
CMB: Banshee's Veil, 4 turn CD
The Clint Eastwood: Generic sorta ranged Ki attack
Bakhmrhrhmr madness: Lays an Upshot at target square, up to three(each costs Ki). On Trafford's next turn, they all explode dealing damage to all enemies in their 3x3 area

Random Game Concepts - Tyr - 09-13-2011

Dark Ki: Immunity to analyze-type skills (like Scan, Find Weakness etc.)
Ki Spec: Increased chance of skills hitting
Inner Strength: 10% damage bonus to all basic attacks
MS: 20% increased damage to all unarmed/fist weapons (for monks?)

I always wanted to make an MMO that didn't have levels. Objects would be semi-permanent and you'd have to physically carry all the shit you wanted to carry. You would have to train for strength and agility by carrying rocks and lifting weights, doing agile things, whatever.

You could craft things in little "minigame" windows where you actually, ya know, craft shit by hand. The quality of your craft would be determined by your actual ability. You could craft swords and armor but the difficulty would actually be representative of how hard that shit really is.

Fighting skill would be a fair bit complicated and your skill would actually be bound by your skill in playing the game. You would have to actually learn and craft runes to cast spells that you found after fighting long and hard to the bottom of an ancient dungeon that was far away from your home, that had never been pillaged before you. Swords would break. Armor would wear and shatter from your hide as monsters beat it from your body.

Then, I also thought, WHAT BETTER AN ENEMY THAN YOUR DICKHEAD FELLOW PLAYERS!? You get rewarded for RPing or being good at shit by getting to play as monsters in the world for a certain amount of time or until you die. You could organize raids, gather resources or even just randomly slaughter people.

That's an idea I've had for a while.

Somewhat really close to Darkfall and Mortal Online (I think).

I always thought Chubbs would translate well into a Street Fighter 2 style fighting game. Or an RPG of a sort. Maybe something like CoH or even old school FF.

I"d like to see a game that'd mix Minecraft elements with a zombie survival game. Set in modern times, of course. You'd scour the city/town for tools, items, and such and use a workbench to combine/upgrade them into better weapons. Kind of like how Ash of Evil Dead attached the chainsaw to his arm. You could, say, get a weed-eater and a circular saw blade and make a death machine.

This, but less Dead Rising and more Silent Hill. The zombies should be more than meat bags to kill. At least at the beginning they should scare you shitless and be a real threat.

edit: I'd personally like a good physics engine to make complex traps. Mmm.

There's a big survival/zombie MMO coming out soon that I believe will incorporate a lot of the scavenging/survival parts of the genre in this massive desolate world. Gonna be sick.

I cannot remember the name right now though... Sad

An rtsfps. Think Battlefield with objectives set by a person instead of the game itself, to be accomplished by player controlled units. All you do in an rts is give commands to AI, all you do in objective-based shooters is take commands from AI... someone needs to bridge the gap and stop fucking around.

There is a source mod that has one person control zombie hordes while the rest of the players shoot their way through them.

Zombie Master.

It's fun but most servers aren't balanced. The ZM can at any moment royally take you from the rear, but if you just try to make it fun for them it's a cool experience. Just ask them to have voice chat on so you can hear their trouble and it's actually kind of rewarding.

I had an idea for a team-based MOBA (didn't know the term when I thought of the game; this was before I was playing LoL) where there were three classes with different abilities and two teams of three (one of each class) competing for one objective (CTF or kills or whatever).

Also an idea for a TBS (hadn't thought of putting a Chubbs spin on it, but I like that). Fairly standard stuff. One of the things that I don't like about a lot of TBS games is that they have really cool spells or abilities, but they become common place and fairly marginalized so I wanted to try and do something about that.

Also an RPG. Only really have the story for that, though.

I'm certain there was an FPS coming out a couple years back where this was touted as the big selling feature, but it must've fallen off the map. Anyone remember the name?

It's the space marines versus alien thing right? Where you can play the queen / commander and issue commands?

Natural Selection afaik. It was a mod but it's becoming a real game.

I remember there was this CS mod where you could run around the map and build shit and the buildings would do different things but at the same time it was an FPS. You could chose classes and shit too. Was fun.

I just want Capcom to rerelease Resident Evil: Outbreak for the new consoles. As an online multiplayer of the survival/horror genre it couldn't be better. It had 4-person co-op that used the classic gameplay of Ye Resident Evil of Olde. There was so much going for it: a box full of different "commoner" characters, limited inventory slots incentivizing group strategy for key item collection, the game was broken down into levels that could be completed in a reasonable timeframe, great locations new and old, great monsters new and old...

It had some problems, like long loading times and PSN was unpopulated, which unfairly killed it off. But, with modern systems and online communities it would get the attention it so richly deserved.

^Seconded. I never got to play the original Outbreak, because in the UK it was OFFLINE ONLY. What a jip. I spent ages checking it out, really wanted to play it.

THE REAL REASON FOR THE RIOTS IN LONDON.

Outbreak was hella fun

I played the first one in my early teenage years and enjoyed it. Bought both of them at Kmart for 8 bucks a few years ago, and now they adorn my video game chest gallantly.
